Ever since I was incredibly young, I’ve always had a bucket list of all the things that I want to accomplish during my lifetime. From writing a book (a dream of mine since I was about 6 years old), to making my family incredibly proud all the way to making enough money to live a happy and comfortable life, there’s many things I’ve always wanted to achieve.
However, I’m sure it won’t come as a surprise to most of you that the majority of items on my bucket list are travel related. I’ve written many travel wish lists on my blog before, from all the places I want to see in Europe, Asia and the USA, it’s safe to say that there’s so many places I want to visit in my life.
In this post I want to highlight all the things on my ultimate travel bucket list that I haven’t mentioned before. From finally climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower to a hot air balloon ride, here are all the things on my ultimate travel bucket list!
Hot air balloon ride
I’ve wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride for SO many years now but I’ve still never got around to it.
While there are many hot air balloon riding opportunities from the York Racecourse a couple of times a year, I think I would prefer to do it somewhere much more picturesque. Turkey, Switzerland or Australia look like truly idyllic places to enjoy a hot air balloon ride.
Helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon
I’ve also never been on a helicopter but I’m a huge fan of flying in an aeroplane so I’d definitely love to go in a helicopter one day too.
To make the experience even better, I’d love to take a ride over the Grand Canyon to take in the incredible views. My mum and dad have done this before and my mum said it was so nerve-wracking but it’s 100% something I’d love to do one day!
Take in the views from the top of the Eiffel Tower
I have actually been to Paris a number of times before, but I’ve still never been to the top of the Eiffel Tower! It’s such an iconic thing to experience while in Paris and I definitely need to head back there one day to take in the views for myself.
In case you hadn’t already guessed, I’m a big fan of heights. While I was always slightly put off the idea of bungee jumping as I’d be terrified in case the rope snapped, it’s still something that sits high up on my ultimate travel bucket list.
I don’t really have any preference as to where I’d bungee jump as of yet but I’m sure there are some truly incredible locations all over the world for experiencing the thrill of jumping off a bridge!
Embark on a road trip across America
I think a road trip across America is something that’s on a lot of people’s travel bucket lists, and it’s certainly made its way on to mine too!
I’d love to embark upon both an East Coast and West Coast road trip, and probably even driving all the way through the middle too. Matt and I were planning on doing some kind of American road trip when we travel around the world but I think we’re gonna make a separate trip out of it one day.
Go skiing in the Alps
When we were in Morzine a couple of months ago, we got to see the stunning mountains that are snow-covered during the winter months that make for the perfect skiing opportunity. I really want to go back one day in the winter and enjoy skiing down the mountains.
The Alps also look like one of the most beautiful and idyllic places during winter so I’d love to spend some time practicing skiing while taking in the gorgeous views!
Visit Canada and see Niagara Falls
I’d never really thought too much about Niagara Falls until recently when I watched the episode of The Office where Jim and Pam get married there (lol).
They looked so magical and mysterious and I’d really love to experience them for myself one day.
See the Great Barrier Reef and get over my fear of sea creatures
I recently discovered that I have an extremely irrational (but equally serious) fear of whales.
Insane I know.
However, I would love to try and get over my fears of sea creatures and experience some of the incredible sights in the Great Barrier Reef.
I truly think it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity so no matter how much I’m terrified of what lies within the sea, I really want to be able to scuba dive and snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef.
Cross the Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is arguably one of the most iconic sights in the whole of North America so it’s definitely something I want to tick off my ultimate travel bucket list.
I think it would be truly magical to cycle or leisurely walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, especially at sunrise or sunset as I imagine it’s such a beautiful sight to behold.
Eat authentic Asian cuisine on the streets of China
I’ve been a huge fan of Chinese takeaway for many years now but I’m sure nothing compares to true authentic Chinese dishes.
I can’t wait to visit Asia and try some of the most weird and wonderful dishes on offer.
See the Berlin Wall
I still haven’t managed to tick Germany off my bucket list due to our cancelled trip earlier this year but one place that’s still high up on my places to visit in Germany is the Berlin Wall.
Home to so much history and emotional stories, the Berlin Wall is an integral piece of European history.
Similarly to bungee jumping, I also want to go skydiving but I really don’t have a particular preference as to where I do it. I think I’d love to give it a go in Fiji, France or Dubai though as I imagine the views as you descend are just out of this world.
Hike up to Machu Picchu
Residing in Peru, Macchu Piccu is one of the most renowned sites in the world. It’s got such an incredible air of mystery about it and I bet the views from the top are absolutely phenomenal.
Go on a safari in Africa
As I previously mentioned about my fear of sea creatures, I’m also not the biggest fan of wild animals in general. However, I still think I would love the opportunity to go on a safari in Africa.
It would be truly amazing to see lions, tigers and elephants in their natural habitats.
See the Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is one of the most grand buildings in the entire world and something that I would absolutely love to see one day. It’s so effortlessly elegant and a truly magnificent feat to behold and I can’t wait to see it for myself one day.
Stay in an Igloo in Norway
I think I’d love to stay in an igloo, even just for one night, but perhaps I’d have to see just how cold it was first!
Hike around New Zealand
After living in New Zealand for eight months, I’m determined to go back and experience even more that it has to offer. There’s so much there that I didn’t get to see, and I didn’t even make a start on the South Island so hiking around New Zealand is definitely something that I really want to do.
Admire the Pyramids of Giza
Known as one of the classic seven wonders of the world, the Pyramids of Giza are famous all over the world.
They hold so much mystery and superstition but they also look absolutely fascinating and I think they’d make for a great photo opportunity!
Climb to the top of Christ the Redeemer
Rio de Janeiro is yet another place that’s been high up on my ultimate travel bucket list for many years now, with the statue of Christ the Redeemer residing at the top of my list of things to see there.
The iconic statue towers beatifically over the city and it would be absolutely incredible to see it for myself one day.
Visit as many cathedrals as possible
I have a huge obsession with beautiful buildings whenever I visit somewhere new. Whether it’s in Budapest, Paris or Amsterdam or even as far as New York and Washington D.C, beautiful architecture truly makes my heart very happy so I’m on a mission to see as many stunning cathedrals, monasteries and churches as possible during my travels.
Eat tapas in a quintessentially Spanish town
Tapas is probably my favourite cuisine at the moment but I’m yet to experience a true tapas meal in a lovely little Spanish town. I’ve been to Spain many times and yet I’ve somehow always bypassed this experience but I’m determined to rectify that very soon!
See the Northern Lights
The Northern Lights are yet another experience considered to be a once in a lifetime occurrence (unless you’re incredibly lucky) so I definitely want the opportunity to see them for myself one day.
It would be even more amazing to be able to capture them on camera so I can relive the experience forever!
See all 7 wonders of the world
There are now the classic seven wonders of the world as well as the New7Wonders of the world and if possible, I’d love to be able to see each and every one of them for myself.
They’re named ‘wonders’ for a reason and it’s extremely clear to see how and why – they really are fascinating.
Spend a week at Walt Disney World, Florida
As much as I enjoy watching Disney films, I’ve never been a hardcore fan. However, I would still love the chance to tick off a week in Walt Disney World from my ultimate travel bucket list.
I would love to visit Warner Bros Studios and see all the Harry Potter rides an buildings, as well as enjoying the numerous theme parks and rides.
Experience the cherry blossom in Japan
Japan seems like such an intriguing country and I think it’s one that’s not talked about often enough.
The cherry blossom in Japan is yet another breathtaking spectacle that I’d love to see one day. There are often streets laden with blooming blossom trees, as well as a plethora of parks smothered in the gorgeous trees.
Visit Santa at the North Pole
I may be a fully fledged adult now (ew) but one ultimate travel bucket list item that I’d love to experience would be to see Santa at the North Pole. Perhaps this one would be better done with kids in tow but either way, I still love to meet the big man for myself one day.
Luxuriate in the lush islands of the Maldives
The likes of Em Sheldon and Victoria have instilled a deep passion and wanderlust within me to travel to the Maldives one day. It looks like one of the most magical and breathtaking places on the planet and I can only imagine how dreamy it actually is in real life.
Live in another country for at least three months
I have already technically ticked this off my ultimate travel bucket list but it’s an experience that I’d love to do all over again one day.
I’ve always wanted to live in New York for a little while and I’m hoping that our trip around the world will give me even more inspiration of places that I can live in for a little while during my lifetime.
