Things I Want To Do Next Time I’m In New York

new york

I’m so incredibly lucky to have been to New York three times now, and yet I always leave wanting more. It’s my absolute favourite city in the entire world and I can’t even begin to explain how much it means to me.

Despite my three different adventures in the Big Apple, there’s still so much of the city I haven’t yet seen. I definitely think that it’s a place that you could spend a lifetime exploring and still not manage to see everything it has to offer. The countless restaurants, the abundance of rooftop bars and the vast offering of cool and quirky museums always leave me wanting to tick everything off my list!

So that’s what today’s post is all about; my bucket list of the things I want to do next time I’m in New York.

new york

Spend more time in Central Park

Central Park is an absolutely beautiful oasis right in the middle of Manhattan; it’s around 2.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide and you could honestly spend hours getting lost in everything it has to offer. I’ve been for leisurely walks through the park before but I’ve never really spent an awful lot of time there; next time I go to New York I’d definitely like to indulge in a picnic and tick off some of the incredible things to do there. Central Park Zoo is definitely high up on my to-do list, as well as maybe watching a street performer, band or busker at one of the bandstands. As I’ve already done ice skating at The Rockefeller Center (but would happily do it again) I would love to try out the skating rink in Central Park.

Go to more museums

The only museum I’ve ever been to in New York is the 9/11 Memorial and while that was such an overwhelming experience, it’s a crying shame that I haven’t been to any others considering there are so many to see. I’d love to explore the Met and live out the Gossip Girl dream, I’d love to see the museum of National History as well as any others I get the opportunity to visit! It’s actually remarkably impressive and surprising just how many different museums there are in New York and I feel like a terrible tourist for not having ticked more of my bucket list!

Explore more of Brooklyn

My experience in Brooklyn has been very limited and considering it’s such a thrilling and thriving place in New York, I can’t believe I haven’t spent more time there. There’s so many cute neighbourhoods to discover and a plethora of eateries to enjoy; next time I’m in New York, I definitely want to spend much more time in Brooklyn. I’ve eaten at the Shake Shack in Brooklyn but there are so many eateries, diners and restaurants in Brooklyn to explore that my mouth is already drooling at the prospective of all the food to be eaten!

Go to at least one rooftop bar

The reason I’ve never done this before is because I’ve always been under the legal drinking age in America whenever I’ve been to New York so the next time I go I’ll be at least 21 which means prime-time cocktail drinking time! After reading Sophie’s blog for many years now and hearing all about her recommendations for the best rooftop bars in the city, I’ve made it my goal to go to at least one on my next trip to New York.

Eat at some of the best NY restaurants

In the last few years, my love for food has really increased and now there’s so many incredible restaurants that I want to try in New York. From Italian restaurants to pizzerias to an abundance of ice cream shops and bakeries; there’s just so much choice.

Go up the Empire State Building

The only reason I’ve never been up to the top of the Empire State is because the Top of the Rock is my one true love and I honestly think the best views of the whole city can be seen from the Rockefeller Center. However, I feel like taking in the view from the top of the Empire State Building is a truly iconic New York thing to do so I definitely want to do it at least once.

Spend an afternoon on Coney Island

Coney Island is a place in New York that I’ve wanted to visit for such a long time now but on all my previous visits to the city, I’ve never managed to fit it in. It’s an island that’s home to a plethora of rides, attractions and beaches and I bet it’s so much fun in the summer! I definitely want to spend an afternoon here on my next trip to New York.

Watch a basketball or baseball game

While I’m not the biggest sports fan, I think there’s something so quintessentially New York about watching the Knicks or the Yankees. I bet the atmosphere at a sports game in NYC is just amazing and it’s certainly something that I’d love to tick off my bucket list.

View a taping of the Late Night Show at NBC Studios

Whenever I’ve been to the Rockefeller Center, I’ve always seen advertisements for live recordings of various American TV shows that are filmed in New York and I definitely think that’s something I’d like to see being recorded. I’m pretty sure you can obtain free tickets to some showings which would just be awesome and such a cool thing to do while in the city.

Take a helicopter ride over the city

I think one of the most incredible and overwhelming magical experiences to do in New York would be to take a helicopter ride over the city. The views must be truly out of this world and it’s certainly something that I’d love to do at least once on a trip to New York; I’m pretty sure I’d cry my eyes out with emotion for the city but it’d be damn worth it for those views!

We are on the same page! I’ve been to NYC twice but for such a short time and I feel like there’s so much stuff I want to do. I also want to go to the MET and checkout a rooftop bar at night, I’m pretty sure the views will be lovely.

I’m in love with this city! I agree with everything in this post – omg, a helicopter ride to see the city from a different perspective would be incredible! Make sure to take plenty of photos when you get to tick off these activities some day – I look forward to reading that post!

    Sending you good vibes!
