- Are at least a 3* hotel.
- Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel/in the room.
- Private bathroom in all rooms.

*Please note that prices for all the following hotels are subject to change based on demand, season, availability etc. I will endeavour to keep this post as up-to-date and accurate as possible based on current prices for each hotel. Rates for each hotel below will be much higher in the peak summer and winter months when demand is much higher. The prices below are based on a stay in January to show you the most affordable prices.

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square South (4*) 8.4
The Marriott Hotel brand is one of my favourite hotel chains in the world and there are numerous Marriott hotels in New York, especially in/near Times Square and the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square South is one of the best in the area.

Our stay at LUMA Hotel New York was one of the most memorable trips I’ve had in NYC. Not only was the view of the Times Square Ball Drop from our room utterly remarkable, our dinner at AperiBar, the onsite bar and restaurant, was exceptional.
For an extortionate surcharge on New Year’s Eve, you can also book a room with a view of the Times Square ball drop; it’s crazy expensive but so worth it!
Hampton Inn Times Square Central (3*) 8.6
Just around the corner from the iconic One Times Square Building, the Hampton Inn Times Square Central Hotel is also right next to the 42nd Street subway station, so you can easily get to other parts of New York City from its doorstep.
All rooms come with a private bathroom, a coffee maker, a flat-screen TV, a hairdryer, a desk and more. A complimentary breakfast is also included with the room rate.

New York Marriott Marquis (4*) 8.5
If you’re wondering where to see the ball drop in NYC, you need to check out the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel as it’s one of the best hotels to stay at on New Year’s Eve.
I was lucky enough to stay at the New York Marriott Marquis in 2018 with my mum and sister (although not on New Year’s Eve!) and it still remains one of my favourite hotels to this day!
We were lucky enough to be provided with a room overlooking the Red Steps and Times Square and if you’re willing to spend at least £200 a night on a hotel room in New York (and as much as £700 a night on NYE), I would highly recommend the New York Marriott Marquis!
Hard Rock Hotel (4.5*) 8.7
Just four blocks from the iconic Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square resides the Hard Rock Hotel, where rooms start between £200 and £250 a night for a standard king room.
Continental, American and vegetarian breakfast options are available every morning and every room is decorated with stunning blue, gold and white marble accents, making it one of the best hotels in Times Square for couples looking to experience opulence and elegance during their time in NYC.
The Knickerbocker (5*) 8.5
If you’re looking for another one of the best places to see the ball drop in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, consider booking a stay at The Knickerbocker!
Rooms at The Knickerbocker can cost upwards of £800 a night on New Year’s Eve as it’s one of the best hotels to watch the famous ball drop from the incredible rooftop, but it’s guaranteed to be an epic, once-in-a-lifetime experience that might just be worth every penny!
For a cheaper stay, consider staying at The Knickerbocker in January or February when rooms are priced slightly more reasonably at £250 to £300 a night.

Is Times Square a good area to stay in New York?
Times Square is one of the best areas to stay in New York for first-time visitors. Sure, it’s a little chaotic and loud and can often be expensive depending on the time of year you visit, but it’s so close to the heart of New York City, making it one of the best places to stay in order to easily explore NYC.
Is it better to stay in Times Square or Midtown?
Times Square is technically a part of Midtown Manhattan, so you’ll be in both areas if you stay in Times Square!
If you don’t want to stay right in the very heart of the action of New York City, I’d suggest staying elsewhere in Midtown, such as Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea or Murray Hill.
