One Week In Palma de Mallorca – The Best Mallorca Itinerary

During our one week in Palma de Mallorca, we stayed in the little town of Can Pastilla which is just a 15-minute drive or a 30-minute bike ride from the idyllic capital of Palma. One week in the sun drinking cocktails, relaxing by the pool and exploring a new city was exactly what we needed and it was absolutely perfect.

While a sunny holiday to Mallorca is usually more synonymous with spending days on the beach, eating scrumptious seafood and swimming in the glorious ocean, you should also consider spending plenty of time in the beautiful city of Palma.

Where to stay in Palma for 7 days

We stayed at the BQ Amfora Beach hotel and it was absolutely stunning. The staff were incredibly attentive, the food was delicious and the room was wonderful, albeit maybe a tad on the small side.

It’s a beautiful hotel and as it was only a three-minute walk from the beach with plenty of local restaurants, it really was a perfect place to stay. It’s also an adults-only hotel so it was the ultimate holiday destination for couples without kids.

Our stay at BQ Amfora Beach hotel included bed and breakfast and it was the biggest and best selection of breakfast food I’ve ever seen. There were the usual full English breakfast options, plenty of fresh fruit, a million different pastries and a chef who was whipping up delicious pancakes and omelettes.

The best things to do in one week in Palma

If you’re planning your next summer holiday and you’re wondering how many days you should spend in Palma de Mallorca, I’ve got you covered with my ultimate travel guide below about how to spend one week in Palma!

Day 1 – Palma de Mallorca itinerary

Our first evening in Mallorca was spent chilling by the pool, drinking cheap vodka that we bought from the local shop (€15 for a bottle of Smirnoff!) and then eating delicious pizza at a restaurant called Soul for only €6.50! Mallorca’s prices were extremely weird; some things were ridiculously low priced and some things were pretty pricey (like €100 for a meal one night!).

Day 2

Our first full day was spent lounging on the beach and swimming in the sea and while it wasn’t quite as sunny as we’d have hoped, it was still incredibly warm and it was so lovely to just soak up the tranquillity of everything.

We stopped at a bar on the beachfront for a cocktail and some fries before heading back to our hotel for yet more chill-out time.

We also had the most amazing burgers for dinner at a restaurant called Arxi which had a great menu and beautiful sea views as we ate.

Day 3 – one week in Palma de Mallorca itinerary

We spent the day at Aqualand; a waterpark that was located just 10 minutes away from our hotel. It was so much fun and we had a whole day enjoying the sun and frolicking in the water.

Obviously, I couldn’t really take any pictures while we were there but make sure you check out the website to see all the awesome rides! Tickets to Aqualand cost less than £30 per person, which is great value for money!

If you’re planning a one-week holiday in Palma de Mallorca, I’d definitely recommend spending a day at Aqualand el Arenal as it was one of the best things we did in Palma!

Day 4

On the fourth day of your one-week holiday in Palma, I’d recommend taking a tour of the city via the Hop on Hop off bus which takes you around all the top sights of Palma.

You can choose from the 24-hour ticket or 48-hour ticket which gives you more time and flexibility to tour the city at your own pace. While I’m always a huge advocate for walking in any new city that I’m visiting, I also love taking a bus tour, especially if I’ve never visited the place before, as you learn so much about the city while being transported to the all top sights.

Once you’re in the city, you can explore the beautiful Cathedral, Bellver Castle, Placa Mercat, Plaza Gomila and much more. It’s the perfect way to explore Palma!

Day 5

We spent the fifth day of our 1 week in Palma doing very little apart from lounging by the pool, drinking cocktails, reading books and generally just unwinding.

If you fancy something a little bit more adventurous on your holiday, I’d highly recommend taking this Half-Day Catamaran Tour around the Bay of Palma. You’ll get the chance to swim and snorkel in Cala Vella, enjoy a delicious buffet meal and sail around the stunning bay.

Day 6 – Palma de Mallorca itinerary

This was probably one of the best days of the holiday as we did so much and it was so much fun! We hired push bikes from a local shop for only €7 for the day (we couldn’t believe how cheap it was!) and biked into Palma to spend the day soaking up a little bit of culture and a lot of sun.

The bike ride was absolutely beautiful; it was along the coast the whole way and with the sea right next to us and the sun beating down, it truly was incredibly stunning and romantic.

Palma Cathedral is a must-visit while in the city as it dates back hundreds of years and is one of the most famous sites in the whole of Palma.

You can take a tour of the inside of the cathedral and it’s usually best to purchase a skip-the-line entry ticket, especially if you’re spending one week in Palma during the busy summer months as visits to the cathedral are incredibly popular!

The whole city of Palma is so beautiful and there are so many wonderful places to eat. We enjoyed the most delicious ice creams from an adorable little ice cream shop (that I can’t remember the name of, unfortunately!). I had a chocolate orange ice cream which was so scrumptious and Matt had strawberry and vanilla which was also super yummy.

If you have time, I’d also recommend checking out a City Walking Tour in Palma de Mallorca as you’ll get to learn even more about this magnificent city and its incredible history.

In the evening, we headed to the remarkable Pirates Adventure Reloaded Show which was so much fun and it’s undoubtedly one of the best things to do in Palma!

The tickets were less than £30 each and included unlimited Sangria and beer; it was immense. You should go and check out some of the clips of the show because I literally can’t put into words just how unbelievable it was!

Day 7

As it was our last full day in Palma, we decided to make the most of the summer sun and spent a good portion of the day relaxing by the pool, reading and eating yummy snacks.

We decided to have a lovely last meal as it was our final night in Mallorca so we headed to a restaurant called Marisqueria Internacional where we ate delicious calamari, steak, cheesecake and ice cream. We had a little walk along the beach after and then headed back to the room for the evening; it was a lovely way to spend our last night in Mallorca.

Our one-week holiday in Palma was so much fun and the perfect combination of ultimate relaxation and plenty of action-packed activities!

When is the best time to visit Palma?

We spent one week in Palma at the end of August/beginning of September and I think this was a really good time to visit! It was towards the end of the school holidays, so flight prices were cheaper than at the height of the summer months and as we stayed in an adults-only hotel, we didn’t find it to be too busy anyway.

The shoulder months of April/May and September are usually the best times to visit Palma as you’ll still get to enjoy good weather and all the top sights, but with much fewer crowds.

How long should I spend in Palma de Mallorca?

Of course, this guide is all about spending 1 week in Palma de Mallorca and I think that 7 days is the perfect amount of time to spend in Palma as it gives you plenty of opportunities to relax, explore the city and old town and also enjoy fun-filled adventures such as a full day at Aqualand and an evening at Pirates Reloaded in Magaluf.

I think you could just spend one day in the city of Palma de Mallorca, especially if you booked the Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour or a Walking Tour of Palma, but I think 5-7 days is the perfect amount of time to ensure that you get to visit all the top sights and attractions in the city, as well as enjoy plenty of relaxing days, too.

Is Palma worth visiting?

Palma de Mallorca is definitely worth visiting! It’s the perfect combination of sandy beaches, luxury hotels with swimming pools, divine Spanish cuisine, city sights and fun-filled activities!
