For those of you who follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ll know that Matt and I headed off to the gorgeous Mediterranean Spanish island that is Mallorca (or Majorca). We stayed in Can Pastilla which is just a 15 minute drive from the idyllic capital of Palma de Mallorca. A week in the sun doing nothing but drinking cocktails and relaxing by the pool was exactly what we needed and it was utterly perfect.
We stayed in the fabulous BQ Amfora Beach hotel and it was absolutely stunning. The staff were incredibly attentive, the food was delicious and the room was wonderful, albeit maybe a *tad* on the small side. I couldn’t recommend it enough however, it was a beautiful hotel and as it was only a three minute walk from the beach with plenty of local restaurants, it really was a perfect place to stay. Oh – it was also an adults only hotel so it really was the ultimate destination for couples without kids.
Here’s what we got up to during our week in Palma de Mallorca!
We got bed and breakfast at the hotel and it was honestly the biggest and best selection of breakfast food I’d ever seen. There was the usual full English breakfast, plenty of fresh fruit, a million different pastries and a chef who was whipping up delicious pancakes and omelettes. It was by far the best breakfast I’ve ever had!
Whenever I’m on holiday I always love treating myself when it comes to breakfast so I was ecstatic to see the vast selection of hot and cool foods, as well as dishes being made to order for those who fancied something slightly off-kilter.
Our first evening on holiday was spent chilling by the pool, drinking cheap vodka that we bought from the local shop (€15 for a bottle of Smirnoff!) and then eating delicious pizza at a restaurant called Soul for only €6.50! Mallorca’s prices were extremely weird; some things were ridiculously low priced and some things were pretty pricey (like €100 for a meal one night!).
We headed back to the hotel for an early night in preparation for the next day (which was also incidentally spent relaxing…).
Monday was spent lounging on the beach and swimming in the sea and while it wasn’t quite as sunny as we’d have hoped, it was incredibly warm and it was lush to just soak up the tranquility of everything. We stopped at a bar on the beach front for a cocktail and some fries before heading back to the hotel for yet more chill out time (this post may not be the most enthralling btw as we spent a good portion of the holiday just relaxing).
We also had the most AMAZING burgers on Monday night for dinner at a restaurant called Arxi and omfg I seriously think I died and went to heaven; they were SO good!
We spent the day at Aqualand on Tuesday, a waterpark that was located just 10 minutes away from our hotel. It was so much fun and we had a whole day enjoying the sun and frolicking in the water. Obviously, I couldn’t really take any pictures while we were there but make sure you check out the website to see all the awesome rides! It was only €36 for the ticket with a fast pass, which I probably wouldn’t recommend in hindsight as it wasn’t entirely worth it; the waterpark was awesome though!
Wednesday was spent doing absolutely sweet F.A and it was lush. Well, it was actually spent preparing for a big night in Magaluf. We had such an incredible night dancing and drinking in Maga and we met a lovely couple from Edinburgh who we spent ages chatting to!
Thursday was an absolute write-off after the antics of Wednesday night and I literally couldn’t get out of bed for the entire day. We ordered pizza, kebab and garlic bread and watched hours of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Don’t Tell The Bride in bed. Despite being in a beautiful, sunny place and spending pretty much the entire day in bed, it was absolutely wonderful to have such a lazy day.
I think Friday was probably the best day of the holiday as we did so much and it was so much fun! We hired push bikes for only €7 for the day (we couldn’t believe how cheap it was!) and biked into Palma to spend the day soaking up a little bit of culture and a lot of sun.
The bike ride was absolutely beautiful; it was along the coast the whole way and with the sea right next to us and the sun beating down, it truly was incredibly stunning and romantic.
While in Palma we visited the Palma Cathedral which was insanely beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the cute little boutique shops. Everything was so pretty and the fact that it was by the sea just made everything even more wonderful. We enjoyed the most delicious ice creams – I had a chocolate orange one which was TO DIE FOR – and Matt just had strawberry and vanilla which was also yummy.
We spent a good few hours in Palma and then we biked back to Can Pastilla for dinner and to get ready for the evening.
We ate at a small restaurant on the seafront and then headed back to our hotel room to get all dolled up for another night in Maga. However, instead of having a crazy night out, we headed to Pirates Reloaded to watch the most amazing show I’ve ever seen! The tickets were around €30 each and included unlimited Sangria and beer; it was immense. You should definitely go and check out some of the clips of the show because I literally can’t put into words just how unbelievable it was!
As it was our last full day we decided to make the most of the summer sun and spent a good portion of the day relaxing by the pool, reading and eating yummy snacks. We decided to have a lovely last meal as it was our last night in Mallorca so we headed to a restaurant called Marisqueria Internacional where we ate delicious calamari, steak, cheesecake and ice cream. We had a little walk along the beach after and then headed back to the room for the evening; it was a lovely way to spend our last night in Mallorca.
Unfortunately, Matt got really ill on the Saturday night (which I then got on the Monday when we came home *all the eye roll emojis*) so Sunday morning was pretty much a write-off until we flew home.
Despite getting ill on the last night, we literally had the most amazing holiday and it was the perfect break we needed to recoup and rejuvenate.
