Is June a good time to visit NYC?
June is a great month to visit New York City because it marks the start of the summer season, meaning that the weather is excellent and there are tonnes of great outdoor activities to enjoy!
However, as it makes the start of the summer season, it also means that the city is entering one of its busiest times of the year, with tourists from all over the world descending on the city to enjoy the glorious summer sunshine.
New York in June weather

The weather in June is great for enjoying plenty of outdoor activities as temperatures range between 24°C and 28°C (75.2°F and 82.4°F). However, there is still a high chance of rain, with an expected 32% chance of rain throughout the entire month, making it one of the wettest months of the year!
However, as the temperatures will be much warmer in June, any rainfall that occurs will likely dry up within a few hours, so you won’t likely experience a full day of consistent rainfall.
Is New York hot in June?
June isn’t quite as hot as July and August in New York City, but you can still expect to experience highs of 32°C (89.6°F), especially towards the end of the month. The lowest temperatures that will likely occur in June will be around 18°C (64.4°F), which is still very pleasant and won’t likely require a jacket!

Packing list for June in NYC
Temperatures are much warmer in June, so you don’t need to worry about packing a heavy winter coat or chunky boots. However, as June can be quite a rainy month, it’s a good idea to pack a light, waterproof jacket to keep you dry. You may also want to pack an umbrella for good measure!
Comfortable walking shoes or trainers are an absolute must when visiting New York at any time of year as you’ll likely be doing a fair amount of walking. I would also recommend a bumbag/fanny pack to keep all your essentials such as your phone, wallet, hotel keys etc safe (I’ve had my Eastpak bumbag for over six years now and I take it on every single trip with me all around the world!).
