1. Wollman Rink Central Park

Located in the southeast corner of Central Park, just a few hundred metres from Gapstow Bridge, The Pond and Central Park Zoo, Wollman Rink is perhaps the most famous and iconic ice skating rink in New York City.

It has featured in many famous films and TV shows over the years, including Serendipity, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Gossip Girl and not only is it one of the best places to go ice skating in the city, it’s also one of the most picturesque places thanks to its spectacular New York City skyline backdrop.

As well as the breathtakingly beautiful Central Park ice skating rink, Wollman Rink also boasts its very own on-site cafe where you can enjoy a variety of snacks and hot beverages to warm up after gliding around the ice!

Wollman Rink is usually open for the ice skating season between October and March every year and offers both public skating sessions, as well as private figure skating lessons. Tickets can cost as little as $15 during off-peak days/hours (such as the beginning of November and in February/March), but you can expect to pay around $38 for adults in the peak season during the holidays.

Ice skating at Central Park is undoubtedly one of the best things to do at Christmas in New York and Wollman Rink provides the perfect place to live out your festive ice skating fantasies!

The Rink at the Rockefeller Center might just be one of the most beautiful and iconic skating rinks in the whole world! It’s famous for playing host to many proposals over the holidays, but even if you’re visiting New York solo or with friends and family, The Rink is still 100% worth adding to your NYC Christmas bucket list!

It might be one of the most picturesque places to go ice skating in New York, but it’s also one of the most expensive, with tickets costing as much as $114 on peak days over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.

In addition to the beautiful rink that sits underneath the emblematic Rockefeller Christmas Tree, you can also book a spectacular rink side chalet, where you can enjoy a variety of food and beverages while watching the skaters glide across the ice.

If you’re looking for one of the most romantic places in New York in winter, you need to visit The Rink at the Rockefeller Center!

Comprising an area of 17,000 square feet, The Rink at Bryant Park’s Bank of America Winter Village is the best ice skating rink in NY for families, couples, friends and solo skaters looking to glide across the ice while admiring the impressive views of New York’s skyline!

It’s one of the biggest ice rinks in NYC and thanks to its incredible location in Midtown Manhattan, it’s also one of the most popular.

Similarly to the chalets at the Rockefeller Center ice rink, Bryant Park’s Winter Village also boasts various places to eat and drink before or after your skating session. Here you’ll find cosy igloos, the Curling Café and The Lodge where you can indulge in festive-themed cocktails, hot chocolate and scrumptious food in a stunning après skate setting.

The Rink at Bryant Park offers free admission public skating hours, providing that you have your own ice skates and you don’t require the use of the on-site lockers. However, if you need to hire skates, you can expect to pay up to $34 for admission and skate rental at peak times.

The Rink at Brookfield Place is another one of my personal favourite NYC ice rinks thanks to its stunning location in the southwest corner of Manhattan, just metres from the One World Observatory and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.

This wonderful public skating rink is open from October to March every year and it’s one of the more affordable ice rinks in New York City, with public skating sessions starting at just $15 (plus $5 skate rental).

Brookfield Place itself is also a gorgeous place to visit during the festive season in New York as it’s home to an incredible shopping centre, plus various bars and restaurants such as PJ Clarke’s on the Hudson where you can enjoy stunning sunset views all the way down to the Statue of Liberty!

If you’re looking for one of the best ice skating rinks in Manhattan that boasts lovely views and doesn’t cost a small fortune for admission, you definitely need to check out The Rink at Brookfield Place!

5. Chelsea Piers Sky Rink

The Chelsea Piers Sky Rink is the only rink in New York that’s open year round for ice skating, hockey and figure skating!

They also offer excellent private classes and beginner lessons for ice skating, but you can also visit the Sky Rink and enjoy general admission skating all year round, as well!

General public skating sessions usually last for 60 minutes and start at $22.50 per person. While Chelsea Piers Sky Rink might not be the most festive rink in the city, it is one of the best ice rinks in NYC open all year round, so you don’t have to wait for the festive months to get your skates on!

6. Roebling Rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park

Located at Emily Warren Roebling Plaza in Brooklyn Bridge Park, just minutes from Time Out Market New York and the world-famous DUMBO Manhattan Bridge viewpoint, Roebling Rink is an excellent ice rink in NYC that can be enjoyed from November to the beginning of March.

The Roebling Rink ice skating rink is located directly underneath the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and it boasts remarkable views of the Manhattan skyline, making it one of the most scenic ice rinks in New York City. As well as the remarkable rink, you can also enjoy plenty of delicious rink side food and drink options, such as sandwiches, salads and charcuterie boards, as well as plenty of refreshing and warming beverages.

If you have your own ice skates, you can enjoy an ice skating session at Roebling Rink from just $10 for children and $15 for adults, but if you need to hire skates as well, you can expect to pay an additional $7 for skate hire.

7. Industry City Ice Rink, Brooklyn

The IC Ice Rink is located in Industry City, Brooklyn, approximately 45 minutes by subway from Times Square, so it’s not necessarily the easiest ice rink in New York to get to.

However, it is one of the best open-air ice rinks in Brooklyn that’s pretty affordable at just $15 for admission, plus $10 for skate rentals. It’s open from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday and Friday and from 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday, so it’s a great winter activity to enjoy on a weekend in New York.

There are also multiple places to eat around the Ice Rink, including Reggae Town Cafe, where you can enjoy a delicious revolving menu each day.

It’s a pretty small ice rink in New York and as it’s quite far away from the main attractions in Manhattan and Brooklyn, it might be a bit of a trek to get to for some people, but I wanted to include it in this round-up of the best ice rinks in NYC to give you plenty of options!

8. LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park

Transforming from a roller skating rink in the summer months to an open air public ice skating rink from November until early spring, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Brooklyn is another one of the most affordable rinks in NYC, with admission starting at just $10.60.

The rink is typically open from 11 AM to 7 PM Sunday to Thursday and from 11 AM to 8.30 PM on Friday and Saturday; visit the website link below to double-check opening times on the day of your intended visit.

This rink is one of the cheapest in New York, with admission starting at just $10 (plus $5 skate rental fee). As it’s located in Coney Island, it will take around an hour and 15 minutes to get there from Times Square, so it’s definitely not the easiest or most convenient rink to get to in NYC, but it is a good option to consider if you want to experience some of the lesser frequented ice rinks in the city.
