Inconspicuously hidden away on the rooftop of Jayleen 1918 Hotel above the bustling streets of Chinatown, this open-air rooftop bar is one of my new go-to spots in the city for unbeatable skyline views, creative cocktails, delicious home cooked food, and an effortlessly chic and cool vibe.

LVLR Rooftop Bar Singapore

Chloe at a rooftop

I’m an absolute sucker for a rooftop bar with epic city views (in fact, I once went to 16 different rooftops in NYC in just eight days!), so when I heard about LVLR in Singapore, I couldn’t wait to head to this little hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Downtown Singapore, just a few hundred metres from Chinatown, Clarke Quay, and Boat Quay.

Upon arriving at the address for LVLR, you’d be forgiven for thinking that you’re at the wrong place, as you’ll enter the rooftop bar via the elevator next to the reception of Jayleen 1918 Hotel. It certainly doesn’t look like the kind of place that you’d find a super stylish and sophisticated rooftop bar, but as soon as you enter “Level R” (hence the name: LVLR!) in the elevator, you’ll be transported to a chic rooftop oasis overlooking the Singapore River, Marina Bay, and the Central Business District.

The rooftop’s owner, Isaiah, greeted us upon arrival and we immediately knew we were going to have a good time at LVLR Rooftop; he’s such a fun and dynamic guy and spent a lot of time talking to us about the concept of the rooftop, as well as his many other business ventures!

We definitely chose the best seats in the house for our visit, as we were treated to stunning, unobstructed views of the city skyline, and as Marina Bay Sands is one of my favourite hotels/buildings in the world, it was absolutely fascinating to enjoy such incredible views of it from a relaxed, yet fun atmosphere.

LVLR Rooftop Singapore also hosts live music nights, open mic events, and an epic playlist at all other times! It makes for the perfect place for company events as it’s such a great, private spot, but it would also be a lovely place to host a birthday dinner or special occasion.

Rooftop views from LVLR

I’ve already mentioned the views from LVLR Bar multiple times throughout this review, but I really can’t stress enough just how awesome they are! While you’re not actually in the heart of Marina Bay at LVLR Rooftop, you do get a fantastic vantage point of the Marina, as well as the Singapore Flyer, Central Business District skyline, and the Singapore River.

I love how you can enjoy the views of the city skyline without feeling like you’re in the super busy, touristy areas. In fact, when we visited LVLR Bar, we were the only tourists there; everyone else was a local, which actually made our experience even more enjoyable!

LVLR Rooftop Bar Singapore menu

As part of our visit to LVLR Singapore, we were treated to multiple glasses of the most delicious New Zealand sauvignon blanc, and we also go to try the rooftop’s signature beer can chicken, which was an absolute delight to behold (and to eat!).

The beer can chicken is cooked with Asahi beer on the barbecue on the rooftop itself, and is then presented by pouring a vodka shot over the whole thing and setting it on fire! I wasn’t expecting such a theatrical show as part of our visit, but it made the whole experience even more enjoyable! The chicken itself was absolutely scrumptious and so incredibly juicy from being cooked in beer juices on the barbecue!

While we were more than happy to stick to wine on our visit, the rooftop also offers a bespoke signature cocktail menu, with fun and creative concoctions, as well as a sizeable spirits, beer, wine, and soft drinks menu.

Is LVLR Rooftop worth visiting?

LVLR Rooftop Singapore is 100% worth visiting if you’re looking for a hidden gem rooftop in Singapore with incredible Marina Bay views, yummy food, and an awesome selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. The food is a little on the pricey side, but it’s no more expensive than most other rooftops in Singapore, and I would happily pay the prices again and again to enjoy unobstructed views from a relaxed and sophisticated vantage point!
