My concluding post in my Morzine series of what to do and where to stay is about the best restaurants in Morzine. Trying out new cuisines and dishes whenever I visit somewhere new is one of my absolute favourite things about travelling and the food and drink in Morzine were no different.
We ate incredibly well during our time in Morzine and I’ve put together an extensive list of all the places that I’d recommend.
If you’re looking for the ultimate list of the best restaurants in Morzine, check out my guide below!

For our first night in Morzine, we didn’t actually go out to eat as when we arrived at our hotel, there was already a delicious BBQ in full swing. We tucked into scrumptious burgers and sausages, accompanied by fresh salads and potatoes.
Lunch the next day was spent at the top of Le Pleney mountain, once we had taken the chairlift all the way up to the top. The spacious restaurant right at the top offers a wide selection of dishes including various meats, burgers, fries, omelettes and salads.
I opted for a simple dish of ham and fries and it was wonderfully cooked, incredibly tasty and remarkably filling. The view from our table was also out of this world (see the above picture of my wine glass!) and it was actually quite surreal to be surrounded by such panoramic beauty.
We ordered several glasses of wine and my younger siblings enjoyed causing chaos in the restaurant; thankfully it was relatively quiet when we were there but in the winter it’s known to be absolutely heaving with skiers popping in for an after-ski beverage to warm their cockles.
L’Étale – best restaurants in Morzine

For dinner that evening we paid a visit to the ever-popular Restaurant L’Étale which served a vast range of exquisite dishes. My dad went for the omelette which was cooked to perfection and was an incredibly hearty size, while my younger brothers and sister opted for the pizzas which all looked divine.
My mum and I decided to share the Royal Hot Stone dish which consisted of an eclectic combination of chicken, steak, duck and smokey bacon served with an enormous portion of fries and salad. The meat was brought out on a slate along with a hot stone plate whereby guests cook their own meat to their desired preferences; leaving you completely in charge of exactly how you want your food to be cooked.
I thought this was such an unusual but incredibly cool idea as it allows you to enjoy the cooking process as well as eat the delicious finished goods!
While the meat wasn’t necessarily the best cuts I’ve ever tasted, it certainly was still yummy and I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again; the bacon and duck were probably my favourite cuts of meat and when paired with the crispy fries and crunchy salad, it made for a wonderful meal and experience.
The whole time we were in Morzine, my mum and I only drank wine as our alcoholic beverage of choice and I can safely say that we didn’t experience one bad glass while we were there. The French certainly know how to do their wine!
The glass of wine above is what we drank at L’Étale; it was refreshingly fruity and crisp and it paired perfectly with our meat dish. We ordered the whole bottle – Apremont Vieilles Vignes – and it went down an absolute treat.

Our next day (and my final full day) in Morzine began with a light breakfast at our hotel before we headed off to Lac de Montriond for a day of water-based activities. Before we headed into the water, however, we stopped for a spot of lunch at one of the tiny diners located around the lake and were presented with the largest baguettes ever!
We naively ordered one sandwich each and it was an impressive feat trying to devour the substantial sandwich! A choice of ham and cheese fillings was available as well as a large portion of chips to share; the place we ate only offered little snacks but there was a restaurant next door that offered a full menu of various dishes.
Le Grillon

Our choice of restaurant that evening was Le Grillon, an incredibly warm and welcoming establishment that was very quintessentially appropriate for a well-known ski resort. There were plenty of seats available, both upstairs and downstairs, with long tables providing ample space for larger parties.
Le Grillon specialises in archetypal French food, including pizzas, steaks and fish dishes. I indulged in an incredibly decadent concoction of sour cream, bacon, onion and mozzarella toppings for my pizza and it was absolutely divine. The ingredients paired wonderfully together and the flavours were truly exquisite; I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to order it again if I ever head back there.
My mum opted for the lamb shank which she claimed was very tasty but slightly too fatty and my dad went for one of the substantial salads that he really struggled to finish as the portion sizes were just so immense. I’d definitely recommend dining at Le Grillon if you’re ever in Morzine and I imagine that it’s appropriately busy during the winter months as it’s such a quirky and cosy place, perfect for the colder climates.
Le Crepu Bar

After a gentle stroll around Morzine town after our dinner, we stumbled across Le Crepu Bar and decided to pop in for a (yet another) glass of wine and some delectable French crêpes.
Whenever I’m at home or with Matt, I never eat Nutella or anything remotely nutty as Matt’s severely allergic, so considering he was hundreds of miles away, I knew I had to take that opportunity and stuff my face with that sweet, chocolatey goodness.
The crêpe itself was relatively standard and everything you’d usually expect from a crêpe but the addition of the Nutella transformed it from a fairly nondescript dessert to something truly sensational to the taste buds.

My mum’s crêpe of choice consisted of swirls of thick cream and lashings of dark chocolate sauce. While it was sublime in taste, it was just a tad too heavy for me and I think I’d definitely struggle to finish a whole one by myself; it was ideal for sharing though and I would thoroughly recommend ordering a few different ones to share if you ever visit Le Crepu.
I think it’s fair to say that we ate magnificently during our time in Morzine, and while there are still a number of places that I’d like to visit and try out, I’m glad I’ve managed to tick some of the best off my list.
