Cosy Club York – The Best Places To Eat In York

Have you ever been to a place that’s just SO good you want to go back there every single day? Well, that’s how I feel about Cosy Club York. I loved everything about the restaurant so much that I once ate there twice in nine days and it’s definitely become my favourite place to eat in York.

Since my first dining experience at Cosy Club York way back in 2018, I’ve now eaten there approximately a dozen times and it still remains one of my absolute favourite restaurants in York!

Cosy Club menu York

The atmosphere at Cosy Club is wonderful, the staff are so lovely and accommodating and the food is literally out of this world.

There’s plenty to choose from on the Cosy Club menu, from burgers to salads to steaks but my absolute favourite is the tapas menu that they offer. There are usually around 10 different dishes to choose from on the tapas menu and it’s pretty difficult to narrow it down to just six (they have an offer where you can get 3 dishes for £11.95 so Matt and I shared six).

The pigs in blankets are one of my go-to dishes on the Cosy Club menu and they’re coated in a delicious, sticky honey and cider glaze that’s both sweet and salty and oh-so-wonderful.

We also had the buttermilk chicken which comes with a yummy chipotle mayo dip; the batter was cooked to perfection and the mayo was the perfect accompaniment that was teeming with flavour.

Matt and I were both a bit sceptical to order the squid as the last time we had it we both had severe food poisoning but squid is one of our absolute favourite dishes so we decided to go for it and we certainly weren’t disappointed.

Matt was still a little nervous about eating it so he didn’t have too much but I ate every last bit and it was SO good. The batter was light and crispy and the squid was perfectly cooked. The mayo that was served with it made the perfect partner and it was just so yummy.

The patatas bravas are another one of the best things on the tapas menu at Cosy Club York. They’re crispy on the outside but so light and fluffy on the inside. They’re coated in aïoli which is incredibly tasty and the dish pairs perfectly with the rest of the meal.

The pulled chicken and chorizo was Matt’s favourite dish and he loved it so much that he said he’s going to try and recreate it at home! The flavours worked so well together and the potatoes that came with it were delicious and crispy.

The pork and beef meatballs are another highlight on the Cosy Club menu. The meatballs are covered in a rich tomato sauce that has just a slight kick to it and they’re so flavoursome and so incredibly tasty that I could literally eat them every single day.

Cosy Club is one of my favourite places to eat in York and I would highly recommend adding it to your York itinerary when visiting the city.

The service we received was absolutely exceptional (the waiter even offered to take our picture and didn’t think it was *too* weird that I was taking pictures of my food!).

After raving about this awesome restaurant for months, I was very kindly invited back to try the new menu at Cosy Club and I took my friend Katie along with me as she was the person who introduced me to this institution in the first place!

Before we headed to the restaurant on Fossgate, I’d already extensively checked out the new menu to see what they had to offer.

The first thing I noticed, however, was that they’d removed my beloved pigs in blankets and beef and pork meatballs so I was a bit gutted about that, but still intrigued to see the new things they had to offer…

The pulled Spanish chicken and chorizo with crispy potatoes weren’t a new addition to the new menu at Cosy Club but my goodness, they were even better than I remembered. The chicken and chorizo went perfectly together and the crispy potatoes complimented the meat beautifully. If you order one dish from the tapas menu, it has to be this!

The popcorn bacon was a new addition to the menu and while I was a little apprehensive at first, after a few more bites, I was surprised to discover that they were delicious. A crunchy, battered exterior with a juicy bacon interior; they’re certainly an unusual dish, but they somehow work! The chipotle mayo that accompanied the popcorn bacon was also incredible and I’d really love to recreate these at home one day.

The final dish that I ordered was the garlic mushrooms on sourdough toast which were unbelievably tasty. I have a love/hate relationship with mushrooms so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this dish but I’m so glad that I ordered it because it was divine!

My friend Katie also ordered the popcorn bacon and she also opted for the halloumi sticks and the goat’s cheese and spinach croquettes. I didn’t actually try those two dishes but I know that Katie thoroughly enjoyed them. I’d definitely like to try out the halloumi sticks on my next visit to Cosy Club.

We also ordered two dishes to share; the Mediterranean platter which consisted of hummus with pomegranate, carrot, and red cabbage plus a few other nibbles all accompanied by soft, warm pitta bread. It was remarkably tasty but I’m not sure if I’d order this particular dish again; it was definitely my least favourite dish that we ordered.

The side of bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil also went down a treat as it was the perfect addition to the meal.

We also decided to indulge in the cocktail menu at Cosy Club and we both went for the English Garden cocktail which was a beautiful blend of gin, apple juice and elderflower served in a stunning crystal glass. I’d definitely recommend this cocktail if you’re ever at Cosy Club in York as it’s not too overpowering with alcohol but it tastes absolutely scrumptious.

I’m not usually one for desserts as I tend to prefer savoury foods but on this particular occasion, I decided to indulge in a dessert at Cosy Club.

The newest additions to the dessert menu included this amazing concoction of Nutella and vanilla cream doughnut with candy floss and raspberry dust. I very rarely eat anything with nuts in now as Matt is severely allergic to them but as he was working late on the evening we attended Cosy Club, I knew I just had to try this incredible-sounding doughnut.

The chocolate-stuffed doughnut was so, so yummy and the candy floss was such an amazing addition to the dessert; I would 100% order it again.

Katie’s dessert of choice was the salted caramel cheesecake accompanied by a butterscotch sauce and sweet and salty popcorn. This dessert was absolutely heavenly and it really was the perfect dessert to end a delicious meal.
