The best cheap eats in Paphos

The best cheap eats in Paphos

One thing that pleasantly surprised me about Paphos was how cheap it was to eat out at cafes and restaurants.

Food and produce in local supermarkets seemed to be really quite expensive, but there were so many cheap places to eat in Paphos with some genuinely incredible food; check them out below!

1. Souvlaki Livadias – best Paphos Old Town restaurants

Souvlaki Livadias - best Paphos Old Town restaurants

The pitta gyros we had at Souvlaki Livadias were the best food we had in Paphos and some of the best food we’ve had on our travels ever.

Matt and I are huge fans of Greek and Cypriot food but these pittas were on another level and if there’s just one place I can recommend to eat in Paphos, it has to be Souvlaki Livadias!

It’s located in the Old Town, about half an hour’s walk from Paphos Harbour, but it’s very much worth the trek to eat at this wonderful traditional Greek taverna. We ate at Souvlaki Livadias three times during our one-month stay in Cyprus and I would honestly eat there at least once a week if I lived there permanently!

  • Chicken kebab wrapped in bacon in pitta bread €4
  • Pork minced meat and kebab in pitta bread €4.50

2. Pinguino – best breakfast in Paphos Harbour

Pinguino is one of the most aesthetically beautiful cafes/restaurants in Paphos Harbour, but it’s also one of the most affordable places to eat in the city, especially for breakfast and brunch.

They often have various deals on offer, such as a cup of coffee and a slice of cake for €5 and you can also get a Full English Breakfast for less than €5! The pancakes were also utterly delicious and it’s just such a lovely place to eat in Paphos.

  • English breakfast €4.90
  • Lemon iced tea €3.50
  • Orange juice €3.50
  • Pancakes €6.90

3. Paninis Sandwich Cafe

If you’re looking for a super cheap lunch or snack place, Paninis Sandwich Cafe is the perfect cafe to add to your list of places to eat in Paphos.

The menu is vast and extensive and you can tailor your sandwich to suit your preferences. The standard paninis are pretty good, but the King of Mykonos chicken wrap was the real winner for me.

  • Porky Pig panini €3.50
  • Pulp Fiction panini €5.50
  • King of Mykonos wrap €6.20

4. E Cosi Gelateria

E Cosi Gelateria

E Cosi Gelateria serves up the nicest ice cream in Paphos for just €1.50 a scoop!

There are dozens of flavours to choose from and you can also make your own “gelato creations” with lots of different flavours and toppings. It’s located just metres from the harbour, so you can grab a scoop or two and enjoy your ice cream with lovely views of the sea.

  • 1 scoop of ice cream €1.50

5. Alexander’s Pub

Alexander's Pub Paphos

Our one month in Cyprus was timed perfectly with the 2022 World Cup and even though England didn’t get quite as far as we would have liked, we still managed to watch most of their games at Alexander’s Pub as it was just a couple of hundred metres from our apartment.

Alexander’s is very much a ‘Brits Abroad’ pub, but it has some of the cheapest drinks we found in Paphos and the bar staff are so lovely and welcoming. I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way just to have a drink at Alexander’s, but if you’re a sports fan, you’ll find a great place to hang out at Alexander’s.

  • €12 for 3 beers and 2 wines

6. Moorings

Moorings Paphos

We didn’t eat at Moorings, but we did happen to catch their happy hour deal one evening while watching the sunset near the harbour and with glasses of wine for less than €3, it would have been rude not to oblige in one or two!

They also have a huge kids’ area at the back of the restaurant with ample seating for families, so it’s a great place to eat and drink in Paphos if you’re travelling with children.

  • Wine at happy hour €2.95

7. Oasen Italian Greek restaurant

Oasen Italian Greek restaurant

Oasen was probably my least favourite place that we ate and drank at in Paphos but they have a crazy cheap breakfast deal for just €2.60 and a pint of beer is just €1.89 during happy hour on an evening, so if you’re looking for somewhere ridiculously cheap to eat and drink, you might want to add Oasen to your list of places to eat in Paphos.

  • White wine €4.95
  • Pint of beer at happy hour €1.89
  • Full English breakfast €2.60

8. Caffè Nero (harbour) – Paphos restaurants with a view

I don’t usually like to promote chain restaurants or cafes in these kinds of food posts, but the two Caffè Nero in Paphos are worth mentioning for their location and views alone.

The first Caffè Nero on this list is one of the best restaurants in Paphos Harbour with a view as it boasts the most incredible vistas of the sunset and it’s a multi-level cafe with tonnes of places to sit and work, so it’s also a great location for digital nomads in Paphos.

9. Caffè Nero at King’s Avenue Mall

Caffè Nero at King's Avenue Mall

The Caffè Nero inside King’s Avenue Mall is also an excellent cafe for nomads in the city as it’s a pretty sizeable place with plenty of plug sockets and tables to work from.

10. Tea for Two

Tea for Two is located on a corner overlooking the harbour, so it’s in such a great location to grab a bite to eat. The restaurant serves many different types of food, including English, Greek and traditional Cypriot cuisine.

The food isn’t necessarily anything fancy or particularly special, but the portion sizes are huge and it’s such great value for money! We actually ate at Tea for Two on several occasions during our month in Cyprus as it was just a few minutes from our apartment and we always enjoyed the food and service.

If you’re looking for yummy, no-frills food in Paphos, definitely check out Tea for Two.

  • Chicken kebab with salad, chips and pitta €7.95
  • Steak and kidney pie €8.25
  • Mojito €4.40
  • Sex and the beach €4.40
  • Bangers and mash €7.45
  • Gammon steak and chips €8.60

11. Alea – best places to eat in Paphos harbour

Alea - best places to eat in Paphos harbour

Alea is located right on the waterfront, so it’s an excellent place to enjoy sundowners in Paphos. The food and drink aren’t remarkably cheap, but I think it’s worth the money for the views of the sunset, making it one of the best Paphos restaurants by the sea.

Matt and I shared the club sandwich when we met friends at Alea one afternoon and it was a great dish to share between two people as it was pretty sizeable.

  • Club sandwich €10.80
  • Carlsberg pint €4.50
  • White wine €5

12. T&J’s fish and chips

T&J's fish and chips

T&J’s is the best fish restaurant in Paphos if you’re looking for excellent seafood, with that classic British fish and chip shop vibe.

The food at T&J’s was wonderful, but unfortunately, we found the service to be a little slow and we had three separate issues with our order. The staff were very friendly and helpful, however, but I would have just liked to have received the correct food that we ordered!

  • Cod and chips €10
  • Jumbo sausage €4
  • Curry sauce €2
  • Medium chips €2.50
  • Pint of Heineken €2.50

The best restaurants in Paphos Harbour Cyprus – luxury

The best restaurants in Paphos - luxury

The great thing about the “luxury” restaurants in Paphos is that they’re still pretty affordable, especially compared to some of the “luxury” restaurants you’ll find in the UK, for example.

13. Curry House Indian Tandoori

Curry House Indian Tandoori

Curry House Indian Tandoori is the best Indian restaurant in Paphos. I wish we had eaten there sooner during our month in Cyprus so that we could have revisited it numerous times because I absolutely loved it!

My chicken dopiaza was one of the best curries I’ve had outside of Asia and the garlic naan bread was the best we’ve ever had anywhere in the world! The staff were also tremendously accommodating and our whole dining experience at Curry House Indian Tandoori was one of the best we had in Paphos.

If you love Indian food, I would highly recommend adding this awesome restaurant to your list of places to eat in Paphos!

  • Chicken Dopiaza €10.95
  • Lamb Rogan Josh €12.95
  • A bottle of rose wine €15.95
  • Plain rice €2.95
  • Garlic naan €2.95
  • Chips €3

14. The Lodge

If you’re looking for one of the best fine dining restaurants in Paphos, look no further than The Lodge; a fantastic South African restaurant set inside a beautiful location, serving some of the best food we ate in Cyprus!

It’s certainly not the cheapest place to eat in Paphos, but it does serve some of the best food in the form of steak and seafood dishes and the interior of the restaurant is also absolutely beautiful.

We shared the African mezze platter which consisted of dishes such as pork chops, ribs, fried mushrooms, chicken wings and a huge bowl of salad. You get so much food for €20 each, so I’d recommend ordering the mezze platter if you like to try a variety of different dishes in one sitting.

I’d also recommend booking in advance if you want to eat at The Lodge, especially on a weekend as it can get super busy.

  • African mezze platter €20 per person
  • House white wine €5
  • House beer €3.50

15. Imperial Chinese – best Paphos Chinese restaurants

Imperial Chinese - best Paphos Chinese restaurants

Imperial Chinese was recommended to us by numerous people during our time in Cyprus and I’m glad we dined there as it was so delicious!

It would make an excellent restaurant for date night in Paphos and while the food isn’t the cheapest you’ll find in the city, it was super yummy and the staff were wonderful.

  • Pampela rose wine €20
  • Sweet chilli crispy beef €12
  • Garlic chicken €11
  • Chicken chow mien €7.50

16. Τα Μπάνια

Τα Μπάνια

We paid a visit to Τα Μπάνια one late evening with friends and it was still super busy when we arrived after 10 PM. We shared the mixed platter which consisted of a variety of cheese, meats and seasonal fruits. We thought it was pretty pricey for the amount of food that we got, but it’s a lovely place to eat right on the water, so I’d definitely recommend it for drinks.

  • Mixed platter €20
  • Bottle of wine €21

17. Suite48 bar

Suite48 was another place we visited with friends for drinks and it’s one of the best places to enjoy spectacular views of the sunset.

It’s located within the Amphora Resort Hotel, but luckily you don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to enjoy drinks there!

  • Bottle of rose €22

18. Mar Bianco – best restaurants in Paphos Harbour

Matt ate at Mar Bianco one afternoon while I was having a massage and while I can’t recommend it from my own personal experience, I trusted Matt’s opinion when he said that his steak sandwich was super yummy and such a huge portion size!

Mar Bianco is another restaurant in Paphos that’s located right on the harbour, so you can enjoy lovely views while you eat.

  • Steak sandwich €12.50
  • Beer €3.50

19. Mr Tippler

best places to eat in Paphos

Mr Tippler is a bar located in the Old Town (the picture above is not relevant!) which we visited on our second night in Paphos when we met our friends for the first time.

It’s definitely not the cheapest bar in the city, but it’s a cool place to visit while you’re in the Old Town as it’s near numerous other bars and restaurants.

  • Bottle of rose wine €26
