New York City is home to some truly incredible rooftops that boast brilliant views across the city skyline and one of the very best rooftop bars in NYC for exquisite views right from the heart of Times Square is Bar 54 at the Hyatt Centric Times Square hotel.

This epic New York rooftop bar resides on the 54th floor of the hotel, making it the tallest rooftop bar in Times Square (and considered to be the highest rooftop bar in NYC as a whole!).

In my guide below, I’m sharing everything you need to know about visiting Bar 54 rooftop in Times Square, including the Bar 54 menu, opening hours, reservations, dress code and more!

I also just want to preface this Bar 54 NYC review by saying that the pictures throughout this guide of the rooftop bar and its views are not the best! Unfortunately, we had terrible weather during our visit to the rooftop bar, so much so, that the outdoor terrace was actually closed due for most of our visit! We were able to pop outside and snap a picture just before we left when the rain had cleared up a bit, but it’s such a shame that we didn’t get to enjoy the views from the tallest rooftop in Times Square as I know just how incredible the views can be on a clear day! At least it gives us an excuse to go back and see the views on a clearer day!

Bar 54 NYC review – tallest rooftop bar in Times Square

Bar 54 NYC - tallest rooftop bar in NYC

Located on the 54th floor of the Hyatt Centric Times Square hotel (making it the tallest rooftop bar in Times Square!), on West 45th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, Bar 54 simply oozes elegance and luxury.

Bar 54 is home to a spacious outdoor terrace that boasts astonishing views of Midtown Manhattan, and all the way Downtown to One World Trade, as well as an expansive indoor dining/drinking area with multiple seating options.

The bar is open daily from 4 PM until 12 AM or 1 AM (depending on the day), so it’s an ideal place to visit for spectacular sunset views over Manhattan, or for a nightcap after a busy day exploring the city.

Bar 54 is also open year-round thanks to it being an indoor/outdoor establishment, so while the outdoor terrace can sometimes close due to bad weather conditions, you can still enjoy the food, drinks, and views from its cosy indoor lounge.

With fanciful cocktails, trusty bar snacks, and some of the best rooftop views in Midtown Manhattan, Bar 54 is certainly one of the best Times Square rooftop bars if you’re looking for a more opulent rooftop experience in NYC.

Bar 54 NYC menu

The menu at Bar 54 isn’t exactly extensive, with only a dozen or so creative cocktails on the menu and a dozen bar snacks to choose from, but what the rooftop lacks in choices, it more than makes up for in quality and style.

Cocktails at Bar 54 will set you back at least $25, while beers are priced at $10-$12, wine at $16-$20 a glass, spirits around $17-$20, and bar snacks ranging from $11 to $42! As you can see from these prices, Bar 54 certainly isn’t a cheap place to eat or drink in New York City, in fact, I think it’s by far the most expensive rooftop bar I’ve been to in NYC so far!

However, while the prices may be extortionate, the food, drinks, and views are pretty spectacular.

The menu changes seasonally, so while some of the classic cocktails will always be available, you’ll also get to try the rooftop’s mixologists’ latest cocktail creations!

During our visit to Bar 54, we were lucky enough to sample two cocktails each and an item from the bar snack menu.

The Wagyu beef sliders with camembert, arugula, dill aioli, and pickles were absolutely delicious; they were by far one of the best bar snacks I’ve had at an NYC rooftop! I would have also loved to try the charcuterie board and the chicken empanada, but we had other dinner plans after we visited Bar 54, so we didn’t want to overindulge in bar snacks at the rooftop!

For our cocktails, we tried some of Bar 54’s classic concoctions to celebrate their 10 year anniversary in 2024. Every single cocktail we had was outrageously strong and teeming with alcohol, so while the $25 price tag might seem a little steep, I definitely think you’re well catered for with the amount of booze in each cocktail!

The Bar 54 at Hyatt Centric Times Square New Years Eve celebration is one of the most hotly-anticipated New Year’s Eve events in Times Square, running from 9 PM on the 31st of December until the small hours of the 1st of January.

As its name suggests, Bar 54 is located on the 54th floor of the Hyatt Centric Times Square hotel in Midtown Manhattan, NYC.

Does Bar 54 have good views of Manhattan?

On a clear, sunny day (not like the day we experienced, unfortunately!), you can enjoy remarkable vistas of some of NYC’s most iconic landmarks, including the Chrysler Building, the H&M tower (4 Times Square), Summit One Vanderbilt, One World Trade Center, and Times Square itself.

Do you have to be 21+ to enter Bar 54 Times Square?

Bar 54 is strictly a 21+ venue at all times, so no children are permitted at any time, meaning that while it’s not ideal for families, it is an ideal rooftop for couples looking to enjoy an adults-only atmosphere.

Is there a dress code for the Hyatt Centric Times Square rooftop?

While there is no strict dress code enforced at the tallest rooftop bar in Times Square, Bar 54 does suggest “appropriate attire” and no athletic wear.

For reference, I wore a simple black-and-white striped dress with plain black boots and tights, while Matt wore a checked shirt, jeans and navy blue smart trainers. It’s definitely the kind of place that you could get dressed up if you wanted to, but it’s not essential.

Do you need a reservation for Bar 54 rooftop bar Times Square NYC?

As well as being a 21+ venue only, Bar 54 rooftop also requires reservations to be made in advance of your visit, which you can do via the Bar 54 website.
