It’s no secret that I’m an incredibly girly girl, which is obviously why chick flicks and rom-coms are my favourite films to watch. They’re my favourite type of movie to watch either on my own or with the girls over a glass (or three) of prosecco.

In today’s post, I want to introduce you to my all-time favourite romantic comedies that can be found on Netflix UK so you’ll never have a dull Friday night again! While some of the best chick flicks of all time have somehow been cast aside by Netflix, there’s still plenty of girly goodness to choose from.

Whether you’re looking to watch something that will make you cry into your popcorn (like P.S. I Love You), or you want something downright hilarious (like Bridesmaids), I’ve got you covered with this ultimate list of the best chick flicks on UK Netflix right now.

1. Just Go With It – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Just Go With It is one of my all-time favourite movies so it had to be listed as number one on this list of the best chick flicks on Netflix in the UK!

Starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston (one of my absolute favourite actresses), this cutesy rom-com is hilarious, adorable and most importantly, totally the reason why I want to go to Hawaii!

2. She’s The Man

This noughties classic starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Bynes will transport you straight back to your high school days!

It’s loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”, but it’s much funnier, sillier and all-around ridiculous, but so much fun!

3. Wild Child

Wild Child used to be one of my favourite films when I was a teenager and I’m so happy that it’s on Netflix so that I get to live my teen years all over again.

With Emma Roberts starring as the protagonist high school brat, this rom-com shows that people can change if they really want to.

4. Legally Blonde (1 & 2)

There’s no doubt that Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde is one of the best chick flick stars of all time and these movies never fail to make me happy when I watch them.

The first movie is definitely much better than the sequel, but as they’re both on Netflix UK, you might as well have an afternoon watching them both!

5. What’s Your Number? – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

What’s Your Number? is another one of my absolute favourite movies and I’m so glad that it’s back on Netflix!

I’ve watched it far too many times to remember, but it will always be one of my top go-to chick flicks on Netflix whenever I need something easy and lovely to watch. It also has a topless Chris Evans scene halfway through the movie as well, if you needed even more of a reason to watch ;).

6. How To Be Single

This is definitely a chick flick that you need to watch with the girls, especially if one of the group is feeling a little lonely about being single as it’s the perfect pick-me-up film to watch as a group.

It’s also set in New York City, and you can never go wrong with a movie based in my favourite city in the world!

7. The Kissing Booth (and the sequels)

The Kissing Booth movie franchise is one of Netflix’s own chick flicks series and while they’re not my favourite rom-coms ever, I do still think they make for a great easy watch.

These are the perfect films to watch with the girls, so organise a sleepover and enjoy the hilarities that ensue across all three movies.

8. The Perfect Man

Starring one of the noughties’ most iconic rom-com actresses, Hilary Duff, this movie is a super easy watch if you need a bit of a distraction from daily life.

It’s not one of my absolute favourites, but it’s perfectly harmless and very sweet.

9. The Notebook

Arguably one of the best and most iconic romantic comedies of all time, I couldn’t write an ultimate guide to the best chick flicks on Netflix and not include The Notebook.

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams play the characters of Noah and Allie perfectly and even those with the coldest hearts can’t help but love this adorable adaptation of one of Nicholas Sparks’ most famous novels.

10. Just Friends – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Just Friends is one of Ryan Reynolds’ earliest rom-com movies and he executes the role to perfection.

He’s fun and loveable, just like he always is in his movies, and his role in Just Friends is no exception.

11. Dear John

Dear John is another Nicholas Sparks adaptation and while it might not be quite as popular and beloved as The Notebook, it’s still one of the best chick flick movies on Netflix.

Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried star in this adorable film that will have you laughing and crying throughout.

12. Fifty Shades of Grey

A much more grown-up and risque chick flick to watch on Netflix is Fifty Shades of Grey. I totally appreciate that this movie isn’t to everyone’s taste, but I thought it would be a good idea to include it in this round-up anyway in case you fancy watching something a bit more daring!

13. Eat Pray Love

Based on the book by Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat Pray Love is one of my favourite chick flicks to watch on Netflix whenever I need some inspiration for travel and writing.

I watched it the week we returned back to the UK after travelling for 11 months, right at the start of the pandemic and it fuelled my soul in such a fantastic way.

14. P.S. I Love You

P.S. I Love You isn’t a film that you can easily watch on a whim (not in my opinion, at least!) as it’s incredibly sad and makes you feel very emotional.

It is a beautiful film, however, and the magic of Gerard Butler on your screen, even if it’s only supposed to be in memory form, is utter bliss!

15. Easy A – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

If you’re looking for a good chick flick on Netflix that’s easy (pun intended!) watching, Easy A is the perfect solution.

It stars Emma Stone as a high school student who is the subject of a horrible lie which she decides to own and embrace, rather than fall victim to nasty high school students.

16. Love & Other Drugs

Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and a fair bit of nudity, Love & Other Drugs is the perfect movie to watch on a Friday night at home.

It’s not my number one favourite chick flick, but the delicious Jake Gyllenhaal certainly makes it very easy to watch ;).

17. Dirty Dancing

A chick flick on Netflix that is one of my all-time favourite films ever; Dirty Dancing is the epitome of romance on screen.

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey were perfectly cast when they took on the roles of Johnny and Baby and I could happily watch Dirty Dancing as my go-to chick flick forever.

18. Safe Haven

Starring the dreamy Josh Duhamel and the beautiful Julianne Hough, this is yet another rom-com on Netflix that’s based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks.

I personally don’t think any romantic comedy by Nicholas Sparks will compare to The Notebook, but Safe Haven is still remarkably cute and sweet and definitely worth adding to your list of Netflix chick flicks.

19. Can You Keep A Secret?

Based on a book by one of my favourite authors of all time, Sophie Kinsella, the movie adaptation of Can You Keep A Secret? is a great chick flick if you just want something super cute and easy to watch in the background.

It’s not my favourite book-to-movie adaptation, but it serves its purpose as a girly rom-com and it certainly deserves a spot on this ultimate list of the best chick flicks on Netflix.

20. Love, Guaranteed- best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Love, Guaranteed is one of Netflix’s original movies starring Damon Wayans Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook. It’s insanely cheesy and very predictable, but it’s also very loveable and you can’t help but root for the protagonists.

It’s a fairly recent addition to Netflix’s rom-com scene as it was only released in 2020, so it’s good to watch if you’re a bit fed up with watching the same chick flicks over and over again.

21. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (and the sequels)

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is now a three-film franchise based on the series of novels by Jenny Han.

When I first watched To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I wasn’t particularly overwhelmed by it, but I can totally appreciate that it’s a film series that I would have loved as a teenager due to its incredibly sweet and naive protagonists.

22. When We First Met

It felt very strange to see Adam Devine star in a romantic comedy after years of watching him in Workaholics, but I actually think that he played the role pretty well.

It’s super cheesy and the theme around time travel is obviously a tad unrealistic but it’s a brilliant film to watch if you need to inject a little romance into your life and you’re a bit fed up with watching all the classic rom-coms.

23. Someone Great – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

I first watched Someone Great in 2020 on a 12-hour bus journey in Vietnam and I’ve watched it twice since and still really love it.

It’s definitely more of a “grown-up” rom-com and it stars an incredible cast including Gina Rodriguez, Brittany Snow and DeWanda Wise. It’s truly laugh-out-loud, very silly at times and it’s a chick flick that makes you feel super warm and fuzzy. It’s a great movie to watch with friends as well.

24. Along Came Polly

Along Came Polly stars Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston and while Jen An is one of my absolute favourite actresses, I have to say that this isn’t necessarily one of my favourite movies of hers.

It is still a very lovely chick flick on Netflix and it’s the perfect film to watch on a Friday night when there’s nothing else on the TV.

25. Endless Love – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

This romantic comedy portrays intense teenage love, so if you prefer your chick flicks to be a bit more lighthearted, this one might be a little too much for you.

Starring Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde, Endless Love is just about as cheesy as it gets when it comes to rom-coms, but if you enjoy that pining endless love kind of movie, this will almost certainly be right up your street!

26. A Cinderella Story

A Cinderella Story was one of my very favourite films as a teenager, so I was truly delighted when I discovered that it was listed as one of the best chick flicks on Netflix!

It’s a very typical noughties chick flick, but the characters are all perfectly cast and the relationship between Hilary Duff and Jennifer Coolidge is absolute gold.

27. Bratz The Movie

I’m kind of ashamed to admit how much I used to be obsessed with Bratz when I was a kid and when they released Bratz The Movie, I was literally beside myself.

While I’ve grown out of that obsession somewhat since I was eight years old, I still love to watch Bratz The Movie every few years or so to rekindle my childhood love for all things girly!

28. Wine Country

Wine Country boasts an all-star female cast, including Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch and many more.

It’s such a great film to watch with the girls and it makes for a perfect sleepover movie, even if you are in your twenties, thirties, forties or older; you’re never too old to have fun with the girls!

29. Blended

Blended is one of the absolute must-watch chick flicks on Netflix, especially if you love Adam Sandler movies. I know that he’s very much a love-him or hate-him kind of actor, but I personally fall into the former camp and I’m a huge fan of most of Adam Sandler’s romantic comedies.

This movie also provides awesome safari inspiration and my whole family loved it so much that they actually booked a holiday to South Africa where the movie was filmed (I was away in Southeast Asia at the time, so I didn’t go with them!).

30. Love Happens – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Yet another Jennifer Aniston chick flick on Netflix, Love Happens also stars Martin Sheen and Aaron Eckhart.

The film has an initial sad theme to it, but then it really turns into an official romantic comedy and if you’re looking for a movie that pulls on your heartstrings, this should definitely be on your must-watch chick flicks list.

31. Isn’t It Romantic

The plot of Isn’t It Romantic is very silly, but it wouldn’t be a rom-com with Rebel Wilson and Adam Devine if it didn’t have an utterly ridiculous plot.

When the protagonist (Rebel Wilson) becomes unconscious and wakes up in an alternate world that resembles that of a romantic comedy, hilarity ensues. It’s a great feel-good movie if you need a bit of a pick-me-up.

32. 17 Again

I was literally obsessed with 17 Again as a teenager and even now that I’m (supposedly!) a fully-fledged adult woman, I can still never resist a bit of Zac Efron on TV!

17 Again is a fab chick flick on Netflix that you absolutely need to add to your watch list if you haven’t already seen it!

33. I Give It A Year

With a bit of a twist on the classic romantic comedy, I Give It A Year is a hilarious chick flick that you need to watch.

The premise of the film is slightly different to most other rom-coms featured on this list of the best Netflix chick flicks as it shows what happens when temptation and incompatibility are thrown into the mix of a relationship.

34. Love Hard

Love Hard is a Netflix original chick flick starring Nina Dobrev and Jimmy O. Yang that has a typical “girl meets boy” vibe with a very significant twist; she’s been catfished!

It’s incredibly warm and fuzzy and as it’s set at Christmas, it feels even more cheesy and romantic.

35. Holidate – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Holidate is another Christmas-based chick flick produced by Netflix themselves and I think that I might actually prefer it to Love Hard.

The plot is super predictable in that the protagonists obviously end up falling for each other, even though they agreed that they wouldn’t, but it’s still definitely worth a watch, especially around the holiday season.

36. The Princess Switch (and the sequels)

I personally wasn’t particularly overwhelmed by The Princess Switch and the two sequels, but I know how much other people enjoyed these movies so I thought it was only fair to include them in this list of the best chick flicks on Netflix UK.

Starring Vanessa Hudgens who plays three different characters at one time by the time the third movie rolls around, The Princess Switch is suitably silly for the rom-com genre, but it makes for a super easy watch if you want something that doesn’t require too much thinking.

37. What Happens In Vegas

I remember watching What Happens In Vegas when I was probably far too young to do so and I still love it to this day.

It stars Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz who get too drunk in Las Vegas and end up getting married, alongside winning 3 million dollars. It’s a lot of fun to watch and I’m really happy that it’s a part of Netflix’s chick flicks lineup.

38. The Heartbreak Kid – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Hilarity ensues in this Ben Stiller rom-com when his character decides that he’s married the wrong woman as soon as they depart for their honeymoon.

It’s a true Ben Stiller classic and one that you’re sure to love if you enjoy his other silly romantic movies!

39. The Switch

I’ve lost count of how many chick flicks Jennifer Aniston features in on this list so far, but she’s one of my favourite actresses for a reason!

The plot is a bit daft and pretty unrealistic, but it’s an incredibly easy movie to watch and while I think Jennifer Aniston has starred in better rom-coms, The Switch is still funny and lighthearted, making it a suitable film to watch when you just need to switch (pun intended!) off.

40. Just Like Heaven – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

I haven’t actually watched Just Like Heaven for so many years, so I’m definitely due a re-watch at some point!

The plot is a little unusual, but it reminds me somewhat of P.S. I Love You in that one of the main characters (Reese Witherspoon) is essentially a ghost. It’s incredibly cute and romantic and it’s sure to make you feel all the feels!

41. Me Before You

I remember balling my eyes out the first time I ever watched Me Before You, so don’t expect lots of belly laughs from this film!

Despite its sad premise, this film is incredibly moving and really makes you feel grateful for life and health in general; just don’t watch it if you’re feeling particularly emotional as it will almost certainly make you cry!

42. Knight and Day – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Knight and Day has a very James Bond vibe to it and even though I haven’t seen it in a number of years, I do remember thoroughly enjoying this easy-watch chick flick.

It stars Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, with Cruise as a lethal operative and Diaz as his unwilling accomplice.

43. Bridget Jones’s Baby

The Bridget Jones film franchise is undoubtedly one of the greatest chick flicks of all time and Bridget Jones’s Baby is no exception.

I really expected to dislike the third film in the franchise, but I 100% loved it just as much as the first two films and while, unfortunately, they’re not currently on Netflix, Bridget Jones’s Baby is and it’s definitely worth watching!

44. It’s Complicated

It’s Complicated showcases a love triangle at its best (or worst, depending on how you look at it!) and the story of a divorced couple with seriously complicated love lives makes for great entertainment.

Meryl Streep proffers a stellar performance as always and with an all-star cast by her side, it’s hard not to love It’s Complicated.

45. Letters To Juliet – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

Starring Amanda Seyfried as Sophie, the premise of Letters To Juliet is remarkably sweet and very cutesy, with just the right amount of comedy to slot it into the genre of one of the best chick flicks on Netflix.

It’s a film I personally love due to the main character being an aspiring writer and as a writer myself, I always love movies like this as it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

46. Bride Wars

I used to watch Bride Wars so many times with my best friend when we were at school and it’s still a film that holds so much nostalgia for me as an adult.

Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson play lifelong best friends who are both due to get married at the same time. The quest for the ultimate wedding venue, The Plaza Hotel, means that their friendship is truly put to the test and even though there are many bumps in the road along the way, they still find a way of rekindling their friendship. This is definitely a must-watch chick flick on Netflix!

47. Mr & Mrs Smith

While it pains me to admit it due to the way that my beloved Jennifer Aniston was treated, you can totally see why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ended up together after filming Mr & Mrs Smith as their on-screen chemistry is positively tangible!

They star as a married couple whose relationship is seemingly boring and mundane until they realise that they’re both assassins who’ve been instructed to kill each other!

48. The Ugly Truth – best chick flicks on Netflix UK

The Ugly Truth stars two of my favourite actors; Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler and they make the perfect pair in this lovely romantic comedy.

Katherine Heigl always plays these kinds of roles beautifully and with Gerard Butler as her potential (and very much inevitable) love interest, this film depicts the genre of rom-com at its best.

49. Hairspray

When I was a teenager, Hairspray was the absolute epitome of a chick flick and my friends and I watched it countless times during the school holidays, largely because we fancied the pants off Zac Efron!

It’s very much a musical at its heart, so if you’re not a big fan of sing-along movies, you might not love Hairspray, but you can’t deny that it’s a super feel-good film with important messages throughout.

50. Couples Retreat

Picture a gorgeous tropical island setting and four sets of married couples and you’ve got a recipe for a hilarious rom-com with Couples Retreat.

If you’ve ever seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall, it almost feels like it could be a sequel to that movie, just with different actors and characters.
