I’m kicking off my Indonesia content with a photo-heavy post all about our luxury stay at the stunning Trinity Gardens Ubud accommodation. We were very kindly gifted our two nights at Trinity Gardens and it was a beautiful retreat where we did very little apart from relax, binge-watch Netflix and watched in fascination at all the geckos in and around the house!
I’ll be sharing all my thoughts and opinions on our stay at Trinity Gardens; including the incredible, the good and the slight downsides, as well as all the details you need to know about booking a stay there!
Here’s everything you need to know about enjoying a luxury retreat in Bali at Trinity Gardens Ubud!
Location and how to get there – Trinity Gardens Ubud

Trinity Gardens is set upon beatific rice paddies, just 900 metres from the main road of Ubud.
Despite its relatively close proximity to the bustling centre of Ubud, the Gardens remain peaceful, quiet and ever-so-serene; in fact, it’s the quietest and most peaceful place we’ve stayed in Indonesia so far!
You can access Trinity Gardens via the small road next to Abangan Bungalow. There’s no car access however, so you’ll either have to walk, use a scooter or ask the staff at Trinity to come and collect you from the main road next to Abangan Bungalow.
While the no car access thing wasn’t too much of an issue, and the staff very kindly came to collect us on two scooters, we had to carry our enormous 16kg backpacks while trying to hold on to the scooter while winding up and down incredibly bumpy roads to get to the accommodation. I’m relieved we didn’t have to walk almost a kilometre with our bags on our backs, but the scooter journey was still a pretty uncomfortable experience in itself!

Once you get close to Trinity Gardens however, it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful location to spend your time in Ubud.
Surrounded by lush rice paddies, numerous warungs (small restaurants and cafes) and friendly locals, you really can’t picture a more stunning setting for the 6 accommodations at Trinity Gardens.

Accommodation options

Trinity Gardens is home to six different accommodation options, all offering their own unique and bespoke luxury touches.
Check them out below and carry on reading for my extensive and detailed review of our stay in The Tower!
Where we stayed – The Tower

We stayed in the serene surroundings of The Tower; aptly named due to its charming tower bedroom and workspace loft.
The house is big enough for a sizeable family or a group of at least 3 friends; each bed is a double so it would happily accommodate up to 6 people.
There’s so much beauty in and around The Tower, it was hard to find just one significant selling point; I could have quite happily spent hours finding new things to photograph!
As well as the luxury of staying in such a beautiful house, you also get the privilege of enjoying the surrounding gardens, the lush pool area and the sunset veranda rooftop.
Bedrooms

There are three bedrooms nestled within The Tower complex; one ground floor bedroom, one open-plan space above the living area and one bedroom residing outside in the treehouse space.
If you stay here as a large group, you’ll be hard pressed to determine who should stay where; each room offers something entirely different and so unique.
Matt and I opted to stay in the loft space in the main area of the house, it’s entirely open plan so you’d be able to hear any noise coming from the living area below but as it was just us two, this really wasn’t an issue.
We were greeted with a few geckos, flies and bees throughout the day and night, which made me a little uneasy at first but once I got used to them, they were just like part of the furniture!

All the beds are surrounded by fly nets which is a great touch on Trinity Gardens’ behalf as there are so many bugs and flies in and around the house.
We slept with the net curtains around the bed every night and we also left them down during the day, which prevented bugs (expect for one irritating ant) getting into the bed!
Living areas

The reception area of The Tower is without a doubt one of the most visually stunning living areas I’ve ever seen.
The simple yet stunning combination of elegant wood, bright whites and marbled concrete creates a sublime area for relaxation. The elongated sofa was remarkably comfortable and is incredibly roomy; perfect for hosting numerous slumber parties!
Unfortunately, we did find that a few ants kept crawling onto the sofa (this was actually a fairly regular theme throughout the house; there were plenty of bugs to be found everywhere, but when you’re staying in a jungle retreat, this really can’t be helped!). We did have some bug repellent spray which helped the matter somewhat, and the geckos definitely helped to eliminate the bigger insects too!

As well as the remarkable inside living area, The Tower is also home to a tranquil outdoor living space, accompanied by bar stools, a small seating area, a floor-to-ceiling length fridge and freezer and even a hammock!

The hammock was arguably one of our favourite parts of the entire house; it was an idyllic place to spend 15 minutes away from any chores, work or stress that we felt and it was utterly peaceful to lay back and listen to the sounds of nature outside.
I always think that hammocks look much cooler and more comfortable than they actually are but the one at The Tower at Trinity Gardens completely exceeded my expectations and now I firmly believe that I need one in my future house!
The views from this little outdoor space are unreal; you can see right into the paddy fields, where local workers will always be pottering about throughout the day. There’s also the occasional chicken and rooster who will pootle past; and the rooster will certainly let you know that he’s there!
Again, there’s a lot of ants and bugs to contend with in the outdoor space, which was quite frustrating but after all, we are in their natural habitat so I couldn’t really complain too much!
The beauty of the place essentially eradicated any discrepancies with regards to the bugs; after a while, you forget all about them and you can truly immerse yourself in some of the most quintessentially Balinese surroundings you’ll ever find yourself in!
Bathroom

The bathroom at The Tower was another first experience for me in that I’d never been in an outdoors bathroom before!
While I don’t think I’m quite a convert when it comes to showering outside just yet, I did enjoy the liberating feeling of showering right next to nature.

The shower has two heads and while I couldn’t necessarily describe them as “power showers” (although let’s face it, I don’t think I’ve had a proper power shower since leaving the UK in April!), they did the job just right.
I particularly love the authentic feel to the outdoor bathroom; with the concrete marble, the lush green plants and the disjointed wooden panels, it feels so cosy, yet otherworldly.
The kitchen
Outside

The outside area of Trinity Gardens is just as beautiful as the interior of The Tower.
Encompassing the property is lush paddy fields, towering palm trees, bountiful plants and flowers as well as intense greenery; it’s an outdoor oasis that is perfect for nature lovers.
Everywhere you look in the vicinity of the Gardens, you’ll be blown away by the rich greens, pinks, blues and yellows that encircle the properties.
I never really used to be much of an outdoors lover, but our time in New Zealand thoroughly changed my opinion on the great outdoors. Now, I can’t get enough of it and I loved that Trinity Gardens provided me with the opportunity to immerse myself in the beauty and tranquility of its vast open spaces.
The garden areas are the perfect place for a peaceful wander around; the staff at Trinity are also remarkably friendly and you’ll likely bump into Esa (the manager) as well as the gardening staff who will be more than happy to chat to you and help you with any questions you might have.
There’s also a herbs and veggies garden where you can have a wander around and help yourself (with permission!) to some fresh and delicious goodies to make dinner with!
Treehouse

As well as the bedroom that’s situated outside in “the tower”, there’s also a treehouse that’s home to a workspace, with plentiful views over the rich rice paddies.
The ascent up into the treehouse is no mean feat and definitely isn’t suitable for young children or disabled access as the stairs are incredibly steep, but the view from the top is so wonderful.
The desk area looks out on to the rice fields and beyond and it’s the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely afternoon of ~work~ while appreciating the romantic surroundings of your “office”.
The pool area

We didn’t actually get the chance to use the pool too much while we were there as the weather wasn’t that great, but it really is the perfect place to relax and unwind with a deliciously cold drink during the day.
The pool itself is pretty cold, but it’s actually a refreshing haven from the intense Bali sun on a hot day.

There’s ample sun loungers and seats to relax in around the pool area, which makes it suitable for hosting many people at a time.
Everything feels so incredibly luxurious and peaceful and it really is an idyllic haven where you could happily spend days unwinding in the calming surroundings.
Creatures at Trinity Gardens
As I’ve mentioned numerous times throughout this post, Trinity Gardens Ubud is home to a plethora of creatures, bugs and animals.
You’ll likely see various cats wondering around the gardens or sunbathing near the pool; sometimes they even come inside the houses but they’re incredibly friendly!
We also saw an abundance of geckos while we were in The Tower at Trinity Gardens which are absolutely terrified of humans and won’t dare to come close to you. Despite that, I’m still not the biggest fan of them, but I did appreciate them eating as many pesky little bugs and flies as they could!
Special touches

The accommodations at Trinity Gardens are home to some many wonderful touches throughout all the houses, gardens and surrounding areas.
You’ll be treated to fresh fruit in your house (including these vibrantly pink dragonfruits!), fresh drinking water that’s suitable for non-Indonesians (I particularly loved this touch as I was so sick of having to buy bottled water all the time!) as well as housekeeping and fresh flowers in your house everyday.
Nearby, you’ll also find numerous restaurants and warungs, as well as Ubud Yoga House and Cantika Alami Spa, all just a couple of minutes walk from Trinity Gardens.

Our time at Trinity Gardens Ubud was truly memorable and it really is the most idyllic place to relax, unwind and enjoy being surrounded by nature; despite all the bugs!
Thank you so much to Esa and the team for looking after us and providing us with a beautiful, luxury stay in Bali!
