Manahatta York - The Best Places For Bottomless Brunch In York

If you’ve been following my blog for a little while now, you’ll know that after the Covid-19 restrictions began to ease in the UK back in the summer, I developed a new love affair with bottomless brunch, despite having never properly experienced it before.

So far, my bottomless brunch adventures have taken me to the likes of Mans Market in Leeds, Slug and Lettuce in York and Las Iguanas as well and I’m on a mission to try out all the best bottomless brunch places in York as soon as I can! My latest venture into the world of BB was to Manahatta York to try out their bottomless brunch menu with my friend (who’s become quite my sidekick when it comes to all things brunchin’).

Our experience of bottomless brunch at Manahatta York was awesome; the food was divine, the drinks were (mostly) delicious and the whole atmosphere and vibe make for an incredible few hours of drinking and eating. Manahatta York is situated right in the centre of the city, down one of the best streets for food and drink in York; Little Stonegate. It’s set on three floors, as well as a basement for the toilets, and it’s a huge area perfect for parties and cocktail evenings.

Bottomless brunch at Manahatta York is served on the third floor of the restaurant, which makes it pretty private and cosy, but also gives you a great view over the lower floor so you can people-watch as they get progressively drunker throughout the day!

The only trouble with being seated on the third floor is that you have multiple flights of stairs to tackle each way to get to the bathrooms which is not only unwanted exercise when you’re out eating and drinking for the day, but also a little dangerous after one too many cocktails!

Our bottomless brunch was booked for 1.30 pm and at Manahatta, you get a 90-minute window of unlimited drinks accompanied by one food dish. The brunch menu at Manahatta is fab and you can choose from a range of brunch classics such as pancakes, poached egg and avocado dishes, as well as wraps and a breakfast hash.

The drinks include unlimited prosecco or pints of Coors, plus numerous cocktails to choose from such as Aperol Spritz, Bloody Mary and more.

We found that the service was a little slow when we arrived at bottomless brunch and it took a good 10 minutes for the staff to come and take our order for food and drinks. This isn’t something that usually bothers me too much, but when you’re paying almost £30 for unlimited alcohol, you sure want to make the most out of it!

When our drinks order was taken, we both went for the Wild Berry Spritz because it sounded utterly delicious and summery and thankfully, it more than lived up to our expectations; it was bloody scrumptious!

As you can chop and change between the drinks you have throughout the 90 minutes, I decided to order an Orange Blush Spritz for my next drink as it sounded just as good as the Wild Berry offering. Unfortunately, I really wasn’t keen on this at all and even though it had a great orangey taste at first and was really fruity and refreshing, it left an awful washing-up liquid aftertaste in my mouth which really put me off.

Thankfully, the staff were very lovely and swapped it back for another Wild Berry Spritz which I was immensely grateful for!

For food, I ordered the breakfast hash which consisted of bacon, chorizo, poached eggs, onions, sweet potato chunks, wilted spinach, chipotle ketchup and avocado (although I ordered without avocado because I can’t stand the stuff #badblogger!).

I didn’t actually properly read the list of ingredients at first so I didn’t realise that it was sweet potato instead of normal potato as I’d never usually go for the sweet potato kind but I was delighted to find that it was absolutely divine, especially paired with the juicy chorizo, bacon and onions. To my surprise, I even ate all the spinach which isn’t something I’d normally have, but this dish was honestly wonderful.

At first, I didn’t think it looked like the biggest portion size and I was worried that I’d end up eating it all and still be left feeling hungry, but it was actually more than enough for me, especially paired with the countless cocktails we had; it was the perfect dish to line my stomach with for an afternoon of drinking!

My friend went for the Manahatta club wrap which included chargrilled chicken, pancetta, tomato, cheese and mayo and was served with skin-on fries. I didn’t actually try this but after the breakfast hash, this was my second choice for food and my friend said that it was really yummy so I have it on good authority that it’s a winner for the next time I visit Manahatta!

Overall, the food and drink at Manahatta York are absolutely amazing; my breakfast hash was one of the best brunch dishes I’ve had in a long time and despite my little mishap with the Orange Blush Spritz, the Wild Berry variety more than made up for it!

Unfortunately, we found that the staff seemed to be a little rushed off their feet so we didn’t quite get the level of service we’ve experienced in other places for bottomless brunch, but the entire restaurant was absolutely heaving and it was a busy Saturday afternoon anyway, so that’s understandable.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend bottomless brunch at Manahatta York to you guys, but I’d probably suggest booking during the week if possible when it’s a little quieter.
