Before we visited Singapore, I’d only ever been on a Hop on Hop off bus twice before – and both of those times were in New York.

However, once the opportunity arose to work with Isango! and experience one of their incredible attractions in Singapore, we jumped at the chance to go on their Hop on Hop off Bus Tour!

The bus tour was with FunVee who specialise in taking you all around the city of Singapore where you’ll visit almost every top landmark, tourist attraction and notable sight!

Despite the fact that I felt pretty ill all day, we had an awesome time on the Hop on Hop off Bus in Singapore with FunVee and Isango! and I can’t wait to share what we got up to!

Collecting your tickets

On the day of our bus tour around Singapore with Isango! and FunVee, we arrived at the nearest bus stop to our apartment opposite Great World City shopping centre and waited patiently for the bus to arrive.

The bus runs everyday between 9am and 5pm and arrives at each bus stop every 20-60 minutes, depending on the bus route you take (more on that below).

As per the terms and conditions on the booking website, we were of the understanding that we could simply just show our e-voucher on our phone to the bus driver and then be well on our way.

However, the bus driver told us that while he would take us to the redemption point at the City Tourist Hub information desk in Marina Square, we would have to get our tickets redeemed for the whole day before we jumped on another bus.

Thankfully, this wasn’t too much of an issue as we’d planned to ride all of the Green Route anyway so it just meant that we overlapped slightly on our second leg.

Top travel tip: Make sure to redeem your tickets before you ride the bus at City Tourist Hub.

FunVee bus routes

When you book on the FunVee Singapore Hopper: 1-Day Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus Tour with Isango!, you’ll enjoy three different routes; Green Route, Orange Route and the Red Shuttle Route.

The beauty of having so many different routes and bus stops is that it allows you to hop on or off as you please.

While you probably couldn’t get on and off at every single stop on all three routes, many of them are actually close together so you can easily walk between the stops too (we actually did this on the Orange Route between Little India and Arab Street).

Green Route

The Green Route is aptly named as such as it covers the top heritage landmarks of Singapore along the city’s green belt.

There are actually 23 stops along the Green Route; some of which are iconic hotels within Singapore, others are just famous streets that are home to famous landmarks within the city.

Orange Route

The Orange Route on the other hand, only has 14 stops so it’s a much shorter route but still one that’s definitely worth doing.

The best thing about these routes is that they link up with each other at numerous points, so you can easily switch between them, depending on which landmarks and attractions you want to see.

Red Shuttle Route

The FunVee Red Route is a slight anomaly as it only runs four times a day and only stops at Marina Square Bus Stop (where the other two routes start and finish too), Mount Faber Cable Cars and Sentosa Island/Universal Studios.

We didn’t actually make use of the Red Route when we did on the Hop on Hop off bus tour as we had planned to visit Sentosa Island and Universal Studios (post coming soon!) a couple of days later so we wanted to prioritise the main attractions within the city.

FunVee Hop on Hop off Bus Singapore

From what we discovered on our Singapore city sightseeing tour with Isango! and FunVee, there are actually two different buses.

One (pictured above) looks like you’d imagine a typical open-top sightseeing bus to look like, and the other was smaller and only a single decker, with a few seats that were open-top at the back.

Decked out in FunVee’s signature orange colours, the buses have ample room and even though we were visiting over the Christmas and New Year period and it was pretty busy all throughout the city, we didn’t struggle too much getting a seat inside or outside the bus.

Of course, ideally you want to spend the majority of your time outside in the open-top part of the bus so you have a much clearer view of all the landmarks and attractions.

You can sit inside and still see everything, but if you want to take pictures through the glass windows, then you may struggle to get a decent and clear picture!

Top travel tip: the outside seats get incredibly windy so hold on to your hat (literally!) and make sure you’re wearing plenty of suncream too.

Top sights and attractions on the Hop on Hop off Bus Singapore

Now it’s time for the fun part – what top attractions and landmarks can you actually see/visit on the FunVee Singapore Hopper bus?!

As I mentioned above, there are many stops spread across both the Green, Orange and Red Routes and depending on how early you collect your tickets and begin your day of sightseeing, really depends on how much you can see.

We managed to tick off pretty much every stop along the Green and Orange Routes. While we didn’t get off at every single stop, as this would be almost impossible given the time restrictions, we did cruise past every stop on the bus.

Here are some of our favourite stops on both routes:

Green:

Singapore Flyer
Esplanade
Clarke Quay
Botanic Gardens
Orchard Plaza/Road
Marina Square

There are also countless famous hotels that this bus route stops at including the Park Hotel, Rendezvous Hotel and Carlton Hotel. While the hotels themselves might not be that good of an attraction to see, you can easily access other top sights nearby.

Orange:

Singapore Flyer
Marina Bay Sands Hotel
Gardens by the Bay
Chinatown
Sri Mariamman Temple
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
Little India
Arab Street

The Orange Route is much shorter than the Green Route but it still includes many of Singapore’s top city highlights.

Top tips you should know

On the website when booking the bus tour in Singapore with FunVee, it says that you don’t need to redeem your voucher, however that’s not actually the case. You will need to head to the information desk at the City Tourist Hub in Marina Square shopping centre to redeem your tickets.
Make sure you bring a copy of your passport (a picture on your phone will suffice) when redeeming your voucher!
Wear/bring suncream with you; if you’re sitting outside on the open-top bus, the sun will inevitably be beating down on you all day so make sure you’re well protected!
Don’t forget to bring spending money! While all your transport costs for the day will be covered on the Hop on Hop off Bus in Singapore, you will need spending money to buy any food or drink you want during the day, plus entry fees to any attractions you want to visit!

City Tourist Hub redemption point:

If you’re travelling to Singapore for a few short days, then I’d highly recommend booking a Hop on Hop off bus tour as not only do you get to see all the top sights and attractions in the city, but all your transport costs are completely covered too!
