The best places to go on a date in Yorkshire

1. A day at the seaside
A day out at the seaside is one of the most fun and romantic days out for couples in Yorkshire. From paddling in the sea to seeing who can win (lose) the most 2ps on the slot machines, to eating a whole lot of candy floss; the seaside is a perfect place for a date.
Head there early and enjoy a day playing on the arcades, have fish and chips for your tea and then take a romantic stroll along the beach just as the sun is setting; terally nothing more romantic. Visit one of the many seaside towns in Yorkshire, whether it’s Scarborough, Filey or Whitby, you’re sure to have a date to remember.
This North York Moors and Whitby Tour from York is one of the best days out in Yorkshire for couples as the whole itinerary is taken care of for you, so you get to spend the whole day with your partner exploring the wonderful Yorkshire countryside and seaside!

2. Visit Dalby Forest
If you’re more of an adventure couple then Dalby Forest can be a great place for a date. You could take a picnic and enjoy exploring the forest, or take your bikes and go mountain biking. There’s even Go Ape! there where you can embark on a tree-climbing adventure.
3. Go on a bar crawl – date ideas in Yorkshire

This one might not be the best idea if you’ve only just met but if you’re in a relationship then going on a bar crawl can be so much fun.
Matt and I love going out for cocktails and exploring the local bars, whether it’s in York or Leeds, there are plenty of places to visit to enjoy a drink or five. Some of my favourite places to go for a drink are Cosy Club, The Botanist and Lucia.

4. Go to the races
There are nine different racecourses in Yorkshire, with some of the most popular being York Racecourse, Doncaster Racecourse and Ripon Racecourse. The races can be such a fun day out, whether it’s your first date or your 100th date. Enjoy a day of getting all dressed up, having a few drinks and enjoy watching the horse racing.
5. Doncaster Dome
While you might not immediately think that there would be tonnes of inspiration for date ideas in South Yorkshire, you might be surprised to discover that there are a few cool things for couples to do in Doncaster, including visiting The Dome.
There’s plenty to do at The Dome, from ice skating to swimming to bowling. It’s a perfect place for a date as there’s so much to enjoy and take part in. Race your partner around the rink or enjoy a few hours in the water park. Visiting The Dome is undoubtedly one of the best date ideas in Doncaster and as there are so many activities you can enjoy there, it’s easy to spend an entire day at The Dome!
6. Flamingo Land – date in Yorkshire

Theme parks are one of my favourite places to go, no matter who I’m with. But, going to a theme park for a date in Yorkshire can be incredibly fun. As long as you both enjoy going on rides and having a fun-filled day, then Flamingo Land is the perfect place for you!

7. Yorkshire Wildlife Park
There are plenty of things to see at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and you can be sure to have an incredible time with your beau. If you’re both animal lovers then YWP will be the ideal place for a first date in Yorkshire as you’ll get to do something you both love while getting to know each other.
8. Winter Wonderland at York Designer Outlet
While the photo above may be from my time ice skating at The Rockefeller in NYC, the concept still applies so please bear with me. Ice skating can be an incredibly romantic thing for you to enjoy with your partner as you can wrap up warm, get your skates on and then enjoy a delicious hot chocolate afterwards.

9. The Deep
Located in Hull, The Deep is a great place for a date as it’s not your typical kind of date. You’ll get to explore the vast aquarium while wandering around and getting to know each other more. If you’re both fans of everything sea life-related then this will be the perfect place for you to visit together.
10. Leeds Festival – things to do in West Yorkshire for couples
If you’re looking for a fun and quirky date idea in Leeds, then look no further than the infamous Leeds and Reading Festival that’s held every summer.
Leeds initely one of the most unique places to go on a date in Yorkshire but it will be incredibly fun. It’ll allow you to see your partner in an entirely new light as you’ll see how well they handle living in a tent, trekking through copious amounts of mud and sh*tting in the worst portaloos imaginable…
If you’re looking for fun and alternative things to do in West Yorkshire for couples in the summer, be sure to book tickets to Leeds Festival for a weekend full of sun, booze and a whole lot of fun!
11. Xscape – date in Yorkshire
Xscape is open from early morning to late into the evening so you can enjoy a full day doing so many different things. From Snozone to Gravity trampolining to Laserzone, there’s so much to do you’re sure to have an incredibly memorable date.
12. Brimham Rocks

Whether you’re into climbing or not, Brimham Rocks can be a lovely place to go on a date as there’s a plethora of gorgeous scenery to be admired. You’ll have a lovely time at Brimham Rocks, especially if it’s nice weather as you’ll be able to see miles of picturesque countryside.
13. York Maze
York Maze is often something that’s largely associated with families and children, and while that’s true, it can still be a great place to go if you’re a couple. You’ll get to wander through the puzzling maze and it’ll give you a chance to work together, so if it’s your first date in Yorkshire then it could be a great ice-breaker.
14. Watch the sunset from York Minster

I’ve made it no secret how obsessed I am with my beloved hometown of York and I truly think that the York Minster is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and one of the most romantic places in Yorkshire, especially if you manage to go up to the top of it on a clear day and enjoy the stunning views of the city at sunset.
The York Hop on Hop off bus tour is an excellent way to see as much of the city as possible in one day, including the incredible York Minster, the City Walls and Clifford’s Tower.
15. Stay in a fancy hotel

Yorkshire’s romantic hotel scene is quite the elaborate one, with some of my absolute favourites being The Grand in York, The Principal Hotel in York and Rudding Park Hotel & Spa in Harrogate.
A stay in a fancy hotel is one of my favourite dates to enjoy wherever I am in the world, but it’s safe to say that Yorkshire is positively teeming with spectacular hotels that make for the perfect date night. Bonus points if you use the spa facilities and enjoy a couple’s massage as well!

16. Go on a street food crawl in Leeds – date ideas in Yorkshire
Another great date idea in Leeds that you need to try is going on a street food crawl around the city.
There are tonnes of places in Yorkshire that offer awesome street food vendors, but Leeds is probably one of the top Yorkshire destinations for street food lovers. Whether you’re after a cheeky gyro or some delicious Indian cuisine, taking your date to eat street food will always be a winner in my book.
This Leeds Local Food Tour is an excellent activity for couples on a date in Yorkshire as you get to try out plenty of scrumptious food and drink at six different pubs, restaurants and market stalls in Leeds!
17. Visit Fountains Abbey

I only discovered the beauty of Fountains Abbey for the first time last year and I can’t believe that it took me so long to visit as it’s truly one of the most gorgeous and romantic places in Yorkshire.
While you’ll certainly find plenty of families on days out there, it’s also a great place for couples to enjoy a lovely date in Yorkshire as there are numerous walks to enjoy and it’s a great place to bring a picnic and spend some quality time together in the great outdoors.
18. Row a boat down the River Nidd

Knaresborough is one of the most beautiful towns in Yorkshire, with so many lovely romantic things for couples.
Hire a boat and row down the River Nidd; you’ll either end up with a romantic scene out of The Notebook or a hilarious tale like Bridget Jones and Daniel Cleaver, but either way, you’re sure to have a great time!
