I’ve made it no secret on my blog that date night is one of my favourite things in the world, particularly if it’s something relating to travel or food.
Whether we’re doing something sporty such as watching an England rugby match like the Autumn Internationals or we’re going on a street food tour, there are so many awesome date ideas to choose from that I thought I’d compile them into one huge post for you to take your pick from!
If you’re looking for inspiration to liven up your date night, I’ve got you covered with my huge list of the best A to Z alphabet date ideas, ranging from afternoon tea all the way to the zoo!

A – alphabet dating ideas
Afternoon tea
Afternoon tea is one of my favourite meals to enjoy in fancy places like Betty’s or Patisserie Valerie and while it’s an activity that I’d usually partake in with my mum or grandma, I also think it’s a great date idea if your partner has a sweet tooth.
Airbnb stay
Staying in a hotel or Airbnb is one of my absolute favourite dates to enjoy. Finding a cosy cabin or a beautiful apartment on Airbnb, grabbing a load of yummy food and snacks and exploring a new place is one of the best ways to spend time together.
Arcade
Dates in an arcade might feel a little bit retro, but that’s why they’re so cool! If you have an arcade near you, that’s perfect! But if not, why not head to your local seaside town and hit the fun games in the arcades?
Art gallery – alphabet date ideas
A date in an art gallery isn’t really my kind of thing as I’m not really into art, but I imagine that it would be a great idea if your date has a particular penchant for all things creative and surprising them with a trip to your local art gallery to see a cool exhibition is sure to win you brownie points.
Aquarium
An aquarium could be such a fun and exciting date to enjoy as a couple, especially if your partner loves sea life. It’ll also make for an educational experience as well, so it’s a bit different to the usual date stuff.
Axe throwing
Axe throwing is certainly an activity that’s a little bit “out there”, but if your date is daring and adventurous, it could make for the perfect alternative date activity to enjoy together.
B – alphabet date ideas
Bowling
Bowling has always been one of my favourite activities to do with friends, family and of course, Matt so I can totally vouch for it being a winner when it comes to date night. It might not be the most original idea, but it is something that most people enjoy, so you can never go wrong with a bowling date!
Bar crawl
Going on a bar crawl is always such great fun and if you can get a few of your couples friends together and make it into a large group date night activity, that can be so much fun!
Baking
Baking definitely isn’t my forte at all, but I do still quite enjoy the process of baking (especially the taste-testing part afterwards!), so if you can get your partner to bake some tasty treats with you, then you’ll have the perfect arsenal of snacks to enjoy together.
Bingo – best date ideas for every letter of the alphabet
Bingo might be associated with older generations looking to spend some time together, but that doesn’t mean to say that we young ‘uns can’t enjoy it too! It’ll also be a great way to get to know each other’s competitive sides.
Beach
A date at the beach is always a good idea, especially if you grab some fish and chips and ice cream while you’re there.
Bungy jumping
Bungy jumping is definitely a date activity that’s not for the faint-hearted, but it is certainly something fun, exciting and incredibly daring to enjoy together.
Bike ride
On the contrary to bungy jumping, a bike ride is definitely much tamer but can still be just as fun and enjoyable if you’re not quite a mad, thrill-seeking couple!
Barbecue
In the UK, our summer months often have quite sporadic sunshine, so when we do eventually get good weather, we’re always the first ones out with the barbecue. Why not host a couples date evening, complete with yummy barbecue food, refreshing drinks and great company?
Bath
This date idea can be taken literally as an actual bath which you can enjoy together for something a bit more intimate and romantic, or you could be really adventurous and actually go to the city of Bath for your date!
Bottomless brunch
Bottomless brunch is my newest obsession recently, but I’m still yet to take Matt there on a date; it’s definitely on my to-do list this autumn, though!
C – best alphabet date ideas
Cinema
I always used to love going to the cinema, but with the availability of streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+, cinema dates have become much less frequent. They’re still a great thing to enjoy as a couple though, so instead of settling down in front of Netflix next time you want to watch a movie, why not make the conscious effort to go to the actual cinema?
Crazy golf
There’s an awesome crazy/mini-golf place near us called Puttstars and Matt and I only visited for the first time recently but it was one of the best date nights we’ve had in a long time; it was so much fun and a great way to see each other’s competitive side!
Concert
You can never go wrong with going to a concert as a date in my opinion, especially if it’s for an artist or band that you both love.
Cooking lesson
Both Matt and I are pretty OK at cooking, but we could both stand to learn a few new tips, tricks and recipes and one of my bucket list items is to learn to make pasta in Italy so if you can take part in an epic cooking lesson in an epic location like that, I know for sure your date will love it!
Camping
Despite owning and converting our very own campervan back in May 2021 and travelling all around the UK in it, I haven’t been “proper” camping since I was around 11 years old. While camping in a tent might not be something that we really need to do now that we have our campervan, I think it still counts and if so, it’s one of my absolute favourite things to do together.
Canoeing
Any sports or activity such as canoeing, especially if you’re in one together, involves a lot of teamwork and support from each other, so if you’re a couple who’s into sporty and water-based activities, canoeing is a great activity to enjoy together.
Comedy show
Laughing together as a couple is one of the loveliest and most heartwarming ways to spend time together and attending a comedy show is a sure-fire way to ensure that you both get the last laugh in the best way possible!
Clubbing
Not every couple is into clubbing, but if you do like loud music, a bit of a boogie and some ~questionable~ shots, then a date night “out-out” on the town is the one for you!
Car boot sale
A car boot sale might seem like a bit of an odd place to go on a date, but if you’re a couple who’s just moved in together and looking to furnish your new home on a budget, a car boot sale will not only be really practical and helpful but also a sweet way to buy things for your new place.

Drive-thru food
While going to a McDonald’s drive-thru might not seem like the most romantic thing in the world, it’s actually one of the easiest, quickest and pretty cheap (depending on how much food you order 😂) date ideas that you can enjoy together.
Dinner
Similarly to the point above, you can never go wrong with a good old fashioned dinner date night. Whether it’s your first date or your 20th wedding anniversary, going out for dinner is always romantic and it’s one of my very favourite things to do with Matt.
Driving range
Even if you have no intention of playing actual golf on a proper golf course, going to a driving range can still be a really cool and fun way to spend time together as a couple.
E – unique alphabet date ideas
Escape room
Neither of us has ever done an escape room before, so it’s something that we definitely want to try out as part of data night one day. It’ll give you the chance to work together to solve puzzles and clues to get you out; how well will you work together?!
Exercise
This type of date idea is quite literally my idea of hell so working out together isn’t something that you’ll see me and Matt doing any time soon. However, if exercise is your kind of thing, then you could find a workout activity or form of exercise that you both enjoy and do it together.
F – fun alphabet date ideas
Football match
Even if you’re not a particularly sporty person yourself, attending a football match can be great fun, especially if it’s a game featuring two rival teams!
Food tour
A food tour is one of the best ways to my heart and while I have been on quite a few in different countries around the world, I don’t think it’ll ever be enough so I’m desperate to book some more on our next trips to different cities!
Festival
Many festivals in the UK last a few days at a time, so if you want to prolong your date into a whole weekend of fun-filled activities, attending a festival as a couple is a sure-fire way to do it!
Fort
Building a fort isn’t just for kids; grown adults who want to inject a bit of fun into their weekend will also love building a fort together and cramming it full of snacks and treats before watching a movie under your protective blanket walls.
Fruit picking
Fruit picking is quite a seasonal thing, so whether you do strawberry picking in the summer or visit a pumpkin patch in the autumn (or both!), it’s a great activity to enjoy as a couple. Bonus points if you take your camera along and get some adorable shots of both of you.

Glamping
Glamping in a luxury yurt is much more my idea of heaven rather than sleeping in a tent (although I do adore travelling and living in our campervan). If you’re looking for a really luxurious way to spend time together, glamping is a great choice for you.
Go-karting
Go-karting is another fun and energetic way to spend time together and encourage each other’s competitive side, especially if you’re able to race each other.
Games night
Games night is always a blast, regardless of who’s involved so if you have a few couples friends you can invite over, it’ll make it even more competitive and fun and you’ll get to showcase your skills as a couple when it comes to games night!
Go Ape
Swinging from trees, balancing on ropes and unleashing your inner Tarzan is a great activity to do together and it’s a great way to test your own limits and capabilities, as well as working together.
Ghost tour
If you’re a couple who’s into spooky things, a ghost tour will be the perfect date idea to enjoy together. I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat, so I’m not 100% sure this kind of thing would be good for me, but if you enjoy horror and spooky stuff, you’re sure to love a ghost tour!
H – alphabet date night ideas
Hot air balloon ride
This is something that’s at the very top of my bucket list and while I have a few places in mind that I’d love to go on a hot air balloon ride, I would happily go on one in my hometown of York as I think it would be the most magical and romantic experience to enjoy together.
Helicopter ride
Another ridiculously expensive date idea, but one that’s sure to wow your partner is a helicopter ride! You’ll likely break your bank embarking on this excursion, but if you find an epic location to take your flight over, you’ll win infinite partner points!
Horse riding
Horse riding sounds like a truly romantic and idyllic activity to enjoy as a couple. While it might not look quite as picture-perfect in real life as it does in movies due to the inevitable mud, sore bits and the smell, if outdoors, nature and animals are your things, then a horse riding date will be perfect for you.
Hiking – alphabet date ideas
Hiking is a great date idea as it can be as easy or as strenuous as you want. While some couples might prefer a gentle stroll through the woods, other couples may wish to embark on an epic mountain hike; whichever one is best suited to you, make sure you’re both going to enjoy the activity.
Holiday planning
I think it’s pretty clear by now on this blog that I adore travel with a ferocious passion and planning future trips and holidays is one of my favourite pastimes. If both you and your partner also love to travel, why not carve out some time for a date night where you plan some holidays together?
Hotel
A hotel stay doesn’t have to have smutty connotations attached to it; sometimes the best hotel stays are simply when you order a takeaway or room service to be delivered to your hotel room and you get under those incredible hotel duvets and cosy up for a night of watching crap on TV. This is literally one of my favourite date ideas of all time.

Ice skating
Ice skating is definitely more of a seasonal thing, but that just makes it even more romantic if you enjoy it during the festive season. Of course, you could go to places like Doncaster Dome which are open all year round for ice skating dates.
Italian-themed night
Italian food is one of my most loved cuisines and while I think I’m much better at eating Italian food than making it, I think organising an Italian-themed night for your partner would be an awesome and inventive thing to do.
J – fun alphabet date ideas
Jet skiing
Jet skiing is an activity for the adrenaline junkie couples and it’s one that’s sure to get your heart racing!
Jigsaw
For those less inclined to race around vast expanses of water on the back of a speeding boat, a nice quiet night in together completing a jigsaw might be more up your street.
K – unique alphabet date ideas
Kayaking
Kayaking is yet another water-based activity that could be an incredibly fun thing to enjoy together. It’s slightly less hectic than jetskiing, but it’s still sure to get your heart pumping and better yet if you can find a place to kayak together that’s totally gorgeous.
Karaoke
Karaoke is so not my thing, but that’s largely due to the fact that I cannot sing to save my life! However, if you and your partner have got the voice of an angel, or you just really don’t mind humiliating yourself by singing terribly, then a night at a karaoke bar could prove to be a lot of fun!
Karate lessons
Any kind of sports lesson could be great fun to enjoy together and karate seems to be one of those activities that you could easily take part in as a couple.

Laser tag
Another date idea for the competitive couples out there; laser tag! Whether you choose to be on the same team or you go on opposing sides and try to beat each other, it’s sure to be an awful lot of fun.
Live music
For a more chilled-out date night vibe, attending a live music evening together is sure to be a lovely way to spend time as a couple, without all the hecticness that comes with a huge concert or festival.
M – top alphabet date ideas
Movie marathon
A full day dedicated to doing nothing apart from watching a movie franchise such as Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings is literally my idea of heaven. Throw in a few of my favourite snacks for good measure and you’ve got the recipe for one of the easiest, cheapest and best date nights on this list.
Museum
A museum date might not seem like the most enthralling thing to do, but if you’re a couple who loves history, then a museum date could be a great idea for you.
Massages
Massages are the perfect indulgent date night activity and Matt wouldn’t need to tell me twice if he’d booked us massages as a date night treat!
Market
A date at a market could involve anything from a food market to a farmer’s market, or even just a supermarket if you feel like shopping for groceries ticks all your date night boxes!
N – alphabet dating ideas
Netflix
Netflix and chill is a date night idea as old as Netflix itself and while it might not be the most original date in the book, it is one that’s super simple and a great way to spend time together.
Nap
When Matt and I first got together, taking an afternoon nap was one of our favourite things to do and while napping as an adult can feel super lazy, it’s also supposedly good for you, so you’d actually be helping each other out in terms of your health…
O – best alphabet dating ideas
Open mic night
Whether you choose to join in on the open mic night or you just go as an audience member and enjoy listening to people share their songs, this is a fun and somewhat unique date to enjoy as a new couple or for people who’ve been dating for years.
Outdoor cinema
Going to an outdoor cinema will feel incredibly cool and retro and probably like you’re on the set of Grease, which adds to the excitement and enjoyment even more.
Opera
The opera certainly isn’t for everyone, but if you’re a couple who enjoys classical music, then a night at the opera might be the perfect activity for you.

Paintballing
Paintballing is a crazy fun activity to enjoy as a couple and whether you choose to be on the same team or opposing teams so you’re against each other, this is a great activity for a date.

A date paragliding certainly isn’t going to be cheap but it will certainly blow your date’s mind. If you manage to paraglide somewhere beautiful as well, it will be even more magical.
Pub quiz
A good pub quiz is a perfect way to spend a Friday evening together. Head to the pub early, grab a couple of drinks and spend the evening putting your general knowledge skills to the test.
Picnic
Picnics are one of the cutest and most romantic date ideas on this list. Try and plan your picnic on a gorgeous sunny day if possible and head out into the sunshine with some tasty treats and a fancy bottle of wine.

While your partner might say that they’re not into pampering themselves, I guarantee that as soon as you break out the facemasks, luxury body lotion and cosy pamper essentials, your partner will be desperate to be a part of it!
Ping pong
Ping pong will forever and always remind me of Forrest Gump which is also incidentally my favourite film of all time, so I love playing ping pong, despite the fact that I’m terrible at it.
Pool
Pool could involve going to an actual swimming pool or the game on a table where you hit balls into a hole; whichever one you decide, you’re sure to have great fun!

Quad biking
Quad biking is an activity that’s more on the extreme end of the date idea spectrum, but it could be great fun if you’re a couple who’s into extreme sports.

Rugby match
I’m not the biggest fan of playing sports myself, but I do really enjoy watching good games of football and rugby and if you’re like me, a date at a rugby match could be great fun.
Rock climbing
Another one for the adventure-seeking couple; rock climbing. Rock climbing is a great choice for couples who like to push their limits and have an awful lot of fun together.
Road trip
The great thing about a road trip is that it can be as little or as long as you want. Take off in your car together for a few hours, days or even weeks and enjoy one of the best adventures of your life!
Rollerblading
Rollerblading is a fun and energetic date idea that will make your hearts pounds and your body move in the best way possible, especially if there’s music!
Rooftop bar
A rooftop bar makes for the perfect way to spend an evening together over fancy cocktails and yummy bar nibbles, preferably in a gorgeous location so you can enjoy beautiful views.

Skydiving
If you’re looking for another activity that might just break the bank, but that will ensure you have the best time together, book a skydiving experience for you and your partner!
Scuba diving
Similarly to skydiving, scuba diving is an activity for adrenaline-junkie couples who love to explore. Under the ocean can be a pretty overwhelming place if you’re a beginner (I’ve only done it once and it was such a crazy experience!), but it’ll also be incredible and a great thing to enjoy together.
Stargazing
Stargazing is undoubtedly one of the most romantic date ideas that you can experience together. I’m obsessed with the stars and moon and Matt and I spend many a night on an unofficial stargazing date!
Spa day
While a pamper day/night at home is always lovely, why not go one step further and actually book in for a spa day at a proper spa? You’ll both leave feeling so refreshed and relaxed.
Surfing – best date ideas for alphabet dating
Surfing is honestly one of the most intense forms of exercise I’ve ever done and while I don’t think surfing is exactly the most romantic date activity, especially if you’re a beginner, it is incredibly fun to do together.
Seaside
A trip to the seaside is a fool-proof date idea for every couple. Enjoy some fish and chips and a gentle stroll along the sand, hit the arcades and spend far too much money on crappy games and maybe even have a little paddle in the sea!
Shopping
Shopping is not an activity I enjoy on my own, never mind as a date, but I know many girls would adore it if their partner suggested going shopping as their date activity.
Sunrise
Watching the sunrise is without a doubt one of the best date ideas and best of all; it’s completely free to do so not only will you enjoy seeing a magical start to the day, but it won’t cost you a penny!
Sunset – alphabet dating ideas
Of course, if you’re not a couple who enjoys waking up early, then you could skip sunrise and just enjoy a lovely evening watching the sunset instead.
Snooker
Snooker is a great game to play as a couple as you can play for as little or as long as you want. If you find a pub with a snooker table, you can get a few drinks and play a good few games of snooker.
Staycation
A staycation in your own city is a perfect idea for a date as you could do a date day, night or both! While you might go out in your own city a lot, giving a dedicated excuse to explore it properly as tourists by calling it a date will make you appreciate it (and each other) even more.

Theme park
A theme park is undoubtedly one of my favourite places for a date. Exciting rides, overpriced food and the chance to hear your partner scream in fear; it’s all part of the fun!
Trampolining
Trampolining might seem like a kid’s playdate activity, but it’s also a great thing to do as an adult on a date as it’ll make you feel like a kid again and there’s nothing wrong with that!
Theatre
If your partner is a fan of shows and musicals, a great date idea gift would be to take them to the theatre to watch one of their favourite performances or something that neither of you has seen yet.
Tennis
Tennis is a great game to play if you can ask another couple to come along to make it a doubles game/couples date.

UNESCO World Heritage Site
This one is a bit vaguer, but there are over 1,000 UNESCO World Heritage Sites around the world to choose from and some of them are really cool, so this is a great and unique date idea.

Vineyard
A vineyard tour is most girls’ idea of heaven (if you’re me, at least) and while you don’t have to be a wine connoisseur (I’m certainly not!) to enjoy a wine tour around a vineyard, it does help if you’re at least partial to a glass or two!
Volunteer
Volunteering together is such a lovely idea as it gives you the chance to spend time together while helping other people at the same time.
W – alphabet date ideas
White water rafting
This activity is great for adventure-loving couples who enjoy living life on the edge. It’s sure to get your heart racing!
Waterpark
A waterpark date is a great summer date activity for water-loving couples who enjoy thrilling rides and making a splash.
Walk
It’s certainly not the most exciting or thrilling date idea in this list, but a nice walk together is one of the simplest and easiest ways to spend some dedicated time together as a couple.
X
X-box
If your partner is a big gaming fan, but you never join in the fun, why not spend an evening playing their favourite video game so you can see what all the fuss is about?

Yoga
If you’ve had a bit of a hectic time recently and you want to find a way to relax a bit more, or you’ve never tried it but you’ve always wanted to give it a go, why not head to a yoga class together, or just follow along with one on YouTube at home?

Ziplining
Matt and I have been zip-lining together numerous times and it’s always such great fun hearing your partner laugh and scream as they soar through the air!
Zoo
And finally, the zoo! An easy date for animal lovers who would rather spend their time with animals than with humans; the zoo is a great place to enjoy each other’s company and the company of animals too!
