Before we started travelling last year, I would have never identified myself as a beach person; I would always say that I was a definite city person. However, now that I’ve seen and experienced some of the best beaches in the world (in my opinion, at least), my views on beach life have changed somewhat.
So when the lovely people at My Picture got in touch for a collaboration, I knew immediately that I wanted to put together a MIXPIX of some of my favourite beach pictures.

In the meantime, here are some of the best beaches in the world, according to me! They’re in no particular order as, let’s face it, it’s pretty impossible to rank things that are so uniquely stunning!
Diamond Beach, Nusa Penida – best beaches in the world
So even though I said this post was written in no particular order, I think that Diamond Beach on Nusa Penida Island might just be the most insane beach I’ve ever seen.
I’ve written more about what an absolute trek it is to get there in my guide to a Nusa Penida day trip, but my goodness, once you actually see it in real life for yourself, you can’t help but be utterly blown away.
It’s undoubtedly one of the most incredible views I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing and it’s firmly at the top of my list of best beaches in the world. It’s also why I chose it to be featured as part of my MIXPIX from My Picture as it’s a photo and memory that I want to remember and cherish forever.
Whitehaven Beach, Whitsundays
Another remarkable beach I’ve been able to enjoy, this time in the Whitsunday Islands in Australia, is Whitehaven Beach.
The sand at Whitehaven Beach is arguably the cleanest, whitest and crispest I’ve ever seen and it almost squeaks underneath your feet when you walk on it.
This magical place 1000% needs to be on your bucket list if you’re ever along the East Coast of Australia.
Orokawa Bay, New Zealand

For those of you who’ve followed me for a long time, you’ll know that I used to live in New Zealand so when we started our trip around NZ last year, I couldn’t wait to head back to one of my favourite beaches in the world.
It’s almost a secret beach and you’d only ever really know it was there if a local told you. Thankfully, we’ve discovered its magic on numerous occasions and it’ll forever hold a special place in my heart.
White beach, Panglao – best beaches in the world
The Philippines isn’t exactly short of beautiful beaches but my absolute favourite one has to be White Beach in Panglao.
Our hostel was just a 100m walk from this beach when we stayed there and I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a paradisal beach quite so empty.
We visited the Philippines in its low season which meant that the beach was remarkably quiet and we could enjoy it with very few other people around.
Hyams Beach, Australia
Hyams Beach is another one of the best beaches along East Coast Australia and the day we went at around 10am, it was so unbelievably quiet.
Stunning white sand, clear blue ocean and plenty of greenery for you to enjoy; it really is paradise.
All Day Bay Beach, New Zealand
I didn’t necessarily fall in love with All Day Bay Beach in New Zealand because of the beach itself; the sand was actually pretty bang average.
What I did fall in love with at this beach however, was its sunrises and sunsets. The picture above on the left is of the greatest sunrise I’ve ever seen and we were treated to it on our second morning on our South Island campervan road trip.
As I said, I wouldn’t go there just for the sake of going to the beach, but if you’re there at sunrise or sunset, you’ll be in for one of the most magical experiences.
Bondi Beach, Sydney – best beaches in the world
Bondi Beach is arguably one of the famous beaches in Australia, if not the entire world and for good reason.
It’s absolutely huge, it’s a great surfing spot for avid wave-riders and the sand is soft and velvety; perfect for sunbathing or volleyball.
The novelty of being at Bondi Beach for the first time was probably more impressive that the actual beach, but it’s still one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to.
Klong Khong Beach, Koh Lanta
Similarly to All Day Bay Beach, Klong Khong Beach in Koh Lanta, Thailand didn’t exactly wow me with its impressive sand or crystal clear waters.
Instead, it was home to the most magical sunset every night we were there and it’s the perfect place to enjoy a few sundowners with fellow travellers and locals.
We actually met such a lovely American couple at a beach bar on Klong Khong Beach who we still keep in touch with today so it’s that extra bit special to me for that reason.
Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida
Another entry from the island of Nusa Penida in Indonesia; Kelingking Beach is famed for looking like a T-Rex and after seeing it for myself in real life, I can totally vouch for its famous “Instagrammability”.
The trek down to the beach is known to be very arduous and as we’d already had an incredibly busy day on the day we visited (the same day as Diamond Beach), we decided against going all the way down to it.
However, even just standing on top of the cliff looking over at the majestic white sand and clear blue surf, I could tell that it would make it onto my list of the best beaches in the world.
Nobby’s Beach, Gold Coast – best beaches in the world
Yet another beach entry from Australia and probably my favourite place in the entire country is the beatific Gold Coast; specifically Nobby’s Beach.
There are plentiful little strips of differently named beaches as you walk along the coast of the city’s skyline and we stayed at a campsite just next to Nobby’s Beach.
As you walk towards the towering skyscrapers, you can see nothing but stretches of sand, sea and city scape for miles around you and it’s a view unlike anything I’ve seen before.
The Gold Coast’s beaches are famous worldwide and it was hard to just pick one to include in this post.
Hot Water Beach, New Zealand
Hot Water Beach is probably the least “attractive” beach on this list, but it’s also probably the coolest.
Situated on the east coast of the Coromandel in North Island New Zealand, Hot Water Beach is famous for holding hot water underneath its sand’s surface.
You can essentially go and dig your own hot water spa pool to sit in and relax and you don’t even need hot weather to be able to enjoy this beach. Arguably, the cooler the weather, the better, so you can fully appreciate the impressiveness of the thermal hot springs!
My Khe Beach, Da Nang – best beaches in the world
My Khe Beach will always have a special place in my heart as it was the last beach we visited before we flew home from Vietnam.
When we were there, the beach was practically empty as there were almost no tourists in the city due to COVID-19. We didn’t spend an awful lot of time on My Khe Beach, but the gentle stroll we had down it is a memory I’ll never forget as it was just before we flew home so it’s a place I’ll always love and treasure.
