I’m already tearing up at the thought of writing this post as I really can’t believe that we’re now at four years of I’m Just A Girl.
Four years of travel content, eyeshadow reviews, blogging tips and budgeting advice (plus more) and now I’m back here in front of my laptop celebrating the most incredible four years imaginable.
It’s become a tradition over the years to write about my year of blogging as I did with three years, two years and one year, so of course, my four year blogging anniversary is going to be no different.
One thing that will be different of course, is the contents of this post as my blog has experienced more over the last 12 months than I could have ever imagined.
I can’t believe it’s been four years since little 18 year old me sat and wrote her first post all the way back in October 2016 and I certainly never expected to be where I am today when I first wrote 50 facts about me.
Thank you all so, so much for sticking by me through the years. Regardless of whether you’ve been around since the beginning, or this is the first post you’ve ever read on my blog, I truly hope you continue to stick with me for the foreseeable. I’m so grateful to each and every person who reads a post on my blog, shares my content, likes my photos on Instagram or replies to my Tweets. I know it’s cliché and soppy, but this blog really wouldn’t be possible without all your support and for that, I’m eternally grateful!

This time last year, as I was celebrating my three year blogging anniversary, we’d just arrived in the Philippines which was the fourth country on our trip around the world.
Since then, we’ve been to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Portugal. Oh. And we’ve also been in the midst of a global pandemic thanks to the arsehole that is Covid-19…
It’s safe to say that our travel plans for this year did not go to plan and while the last few months since we arrived back in the UK have been tough, I’m still beyond grateful that we managed to visit so many places before the world quite literally fell apart.
In terms of my actual blog, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind year. Year four of blogging started incredibly, with me achieving consistently high pageviews each month. Since the start of the year, however, when Covid hit, things have dwindled a little, but I’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that I’m still creating as much awesome content as possible and the pandemic has just proven to me even more how much I love writing and travelling.
While the travel industry has taken a pretty huge hit over the last 7+ months, travel blogging included, it’s only cemented my love for what I do even more and it’s made me more determined than ever to continue down this ~career~ path to achieve my dreams of nomadic travel.

I’ve also actually managed to work with some incredible brands over the last year and I even secured a freelance writing position at Culture Trip for a little while which was an absolute dream come true to write for such a prestigious brand.
I’ve also worked on some of my highest-paying collaborations to date, including with Babbel on some language-learning, as well as The TEFL Org on ‘working while travelling’ and Bookaway on a collaborative basis.
The opportunities that arise out of this little corner of the internet continue to humble me every single day and I really don’t think I’ll ever fully get used to the fact that this is my life.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s been challenging at times (hello Covid), but it’s also the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done and I love my little space so much that it often overwhelms me.
I’d love to say that I knew what the next year holds for I’m Just A Girl, but right now, I truly don’t.
All I know is that I’m determined to make my blog better than ever and for it to be a constant source of inspiration to you guys. Whether you’re here for travel guides, restaurant reviews, budgeting tips or just because you feel somewhat obligated (hi, mum!), I hope that the next 12 months are more awesome than ever.
Thank you so much for being here and helping to make I’m Just A Girl what it is today. The last four years of blogging have been an absolute dream and I wouldn’t change anything for the world. Even the mishaps of Covid have taught me such valuable lessons and while I certainly had different plans for this year, I’m more confident than ever of this little space and what it holds for the future.
Here’s to the next four years!
