Brew And Brownie

I’ve been wanting to try out Brew and Brownie for literally years now and last week, Matt and I finally got around to trying it out.

It’s a gorgeous little cafe right in the centre of York and I think I may be in love with it. The food was out of this world and I genuinely had the most incredible hot chocolate of my entire life.

Today’s post includes pictures of the most insanely drool-worthy food ever and all the reasons why you need to visit Brew and Brownie.

Brew And Brownie

Brew and Brownie is always heaving with customers and we were pretty sceptical about whether we’d get a table or not but a couple were leaving just as we walked in and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been happier.

The atmosphere of the cafe is laid back and casual with an extremely cosy feel to it. There are only around 12 or so tables so it’s pretty small but it’s an absolutely perfect place to enjoy an intimate lunch with a loved one. The cute wooden tables, gorgeous interior and friendly staff make Brew and Brownie a truly delightful place to enjoy breakfast or lunch – or in our case, brunch.

As soon as we entered the cafe my eyes were drawn to the selection of delicious baked goods; primarily the oreo brownies that looked like they had been made by the chocolate gods. We didn’t actually purchase one of these straight away as we were so full, so we bought one to take home with us and it was truly divine.

We took our seats and were presented with an adorable menu that had every blogger’s dream list of brunch options available. I opted for the ‘Benny’s Eggs’ which was two scrumptious poached eggs accompanied by thick slices of ham, sourdough toast and a generous drizzle of hollandaise sauce. The toast was perfectly crunchy, the eggs were heavenly and the yolk was incredibly runny while the ham was thick, juicy and succulent.

No, your mouth is drooling just remembering it.

Matt chose the sourdough toast, fried eggs, smashed avocado and streaky bacon sandwich; yes, apparently my boyfriend is now a “typical blogger”. I’m not actually the biggest fan of avocado at all but Matt said it was incredibly delicious. The fried egg was perfectly cooked and the streaky bacon had just the right amount of crispiness.

I also had the most delicious hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was so rich and creamy, without being too sickly and if there’s one thing you try if you ever visit York, it has to be this hot chocolate.

I’m pretty sure they do takeout drinks too, so I’d definitely recommend grabbing a brownie and a hot chocolate. The mug was huge and I had to share it with Matt, partly because I’m incredibly generous and partly because I felt bad for him to miss out on what can only be described as a masterpiece.

I really couldn’t recommend Brew and Brownie enough and I will 100% be heading back there very, very soon!

  1. That hot chocolate really does look incredible, and so do both of your brunch meal choices. I’m not really that big a fan of avocado either, I don’t get everyone’s fascination haha xx

  2. This looks like such a cosy place! I think I’d have to make it a monthly thing though as I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from eating all the brownies if I went often! x
