3 Days In Jersey - The Ultimate Long Weekend Itinerary

Are you planning to visit the beautiful island of Jersey in the Channel Islands? Want to know the best things to see, do and eat in 3 days in Jersey? You’ve come to the right place!

Jersey was never really a destination that I’d considered visiting until I was contacted by Jet2holidays for their upcoming press trip to this particular Channel Island.

However, after spending 3 days in Jersey with a group of truly wonderful bloggers, I can safely say that it’s now one of my favourite places in the UK (although it’s technically not part of the UK, but rather a self-governing British Crown Dependency!).

In my ultimate long weekend itinerary below, I’m covering everything you need to know about spending 3 days in Jersey, including how to get there, where to stay, where to eat and what to see and do!

Flights to Jersey with Jet2

Is Jersey worth visiting?

Jersey is 100% worth visiting! It’s the perfect short break destination as it’s such an incredibly beautiful place that’s super accessible from the UK and France and it’s a great alternative to going “abroad” for your summer holiday as the weather is so pleasant during the summer months!

Here are a few more reasons why Jersey is worth visiting:

  1. It’s part of the Common Travel Area so it’s easy to visit (you don’t need a passport).
  2. Flights from most major cities in the UK take less than an hour to get to Jersey.
  3. It’s home to some truly fantastic beaches.
  4. The average temperature is 2°C warmer than the UK (it’s also the sunniest place in the British Isles!).
  5. It’s an excellent place for food and drink.
  6. It’s a dream location for water-based activities and adventures.
  7. It’s easy to get around by hiring a car or using public transport.
  8. There are so many wonderful things to see and do.
  9. It boasts plenty of incredible places to stay.
  10. You can easily visit nearby islands such as Guernsey, Sark and Herm.

How many days do you need in Jersey?

You could easily spend an entire week in Jersey, but I think that 3 days is the perfect amount of time to spend in Jersey to get a good feel for the beautiful Channel Island.

It allows you to visit some of the island’s top sights, sample the incredible food at the many restaurants and even take a wine tour of an utterly spectacular vineyard!

How to get to Jersey

How to get to Jersey - Jet2holidays

Flights to Jersey from Leeds Bradford Airport run three times a week from the end of May to the end of September, and with a flight time of around one hour, you’re in Jersey before you’ve even had the chance to stretch your legs on the plane!

With Jet2holidays, you get 22kg hold baggage and 10kg hand luggage included as standard, which is ideal for travelling to Jersey as you’ll undoubtedly want to bring plenty of souvenirs home with you after reading this ultimate guide to spending 3 days in Jersey!

Check holidays from Leeds Bradford Airport to Jersey here!

Alternatively, it’s possible to get a ferry to Jersey from Poole (approx 4 hours) or from Portsmouth (approx 10 hours). If you’re travelling without a car, ferry prices can start from as little as £40 return or from around £120 return for vehicles (be aware that these prices will likely be much higher in the peak summer months).

How to get around Jersey

The best way to get around Jersey is by hiring a car, using public transport such as the bus, or by booking trips with tour companies such as Bay Tours.

Prices for car hire in Jersey usually start at around £50 per day, but these prices can significantly increase during the busy summer months.

It is possible to see Jersey by using the bus system and you can buy multi-day family passes for as little as £45 for 3 days which gives you unlimited bus travel during your time in Jersey. Check the Visit Jersey website for more information on bus timetables and ticket options.

During our trip to Jersey with Jet2holidays, we also used Bay Tours for transfers to attractions such as the Jersey War Tunnels and the Jersey Museum, and we also used Domino Cabs for many of our shorter trips as well when we were taken to various restaurants, castles and beaches.

Where to stay in Jersey

During our 3 days in Jersey, we stayed at The Club Hotel & Spa with Jet2holidays. This beautiful 5-star hotel is located in the heart of St Helier, so it’s in a super excellent location for exploring the very best of what Jersey has to offer.

Complete with an on-site spa, a Michelin-star restaurant, an indoor and outdoor pool and comfy rooms complete with giant beds, a well-stocked minibar and air-conditioning, I couldn’t believe my luck when we checked into The Club Hotel & Spa.

Day 1 – 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Day 1 - 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Your first day in Jersey involves going back in time to experience the Jersey War Tunnels and the Jersey Museum & Art Gallery. You’ll also indulge in a wine-tasting experience and tour of the beautiful La Mare Wine Estate before enjoying a gorgeous stroll along Havre Des Pas before heading for a delicious dinner at Oyster Box.

Jersey War Tunnels – 3 days in Jersey

The first official stop on your 3 days in Jersey itinerary is the fascinating Jersey War Tunnels.

The War Tunnels transport you back in time to the German occupation of Jersey Island during WWII. It shows the hardship that the people faced in the initial days of the occupation, as well as what life was really like for the people of Jersey during the war.

The museum is located within the walls of the tunnels that were built by the Germans using slave labour during the war and it can be quite a harrowing experience at times. If you’re intrigued about the war and want to learn more about Jersey and the Channel Islands’ involvement in WWII, this experience is for you.

I’d recommend spending 1-2 hours at the Jersey War Tunnels; we spent just over an hour in the tunnels, but you can spend longer if you want to read every single fact and informative plaque in the museum.

La Mare Wine Estate – lunch, tasting and tour

Our time at La Mare Wine Estate was my favourite experience during our three days in Jersey and if there’s just one thing I can recommend to you in Jersey, it would be this remarkable vineyard!

La Mare Wine Estate is Jersey’s only vineyard and it also boasts a wonderful on-site restaurant, a distillery, chocolate-making facilities and wine-tasting tours.

The grounds of La Mare are absolutely breathtaking and we were so lucky to enjoy a gorgeous blue-sky and sunshine day during our wine-tasting tour.

The food inside the restaurant at La Mare Wine Estate was also some of the best that I ate during my weekend in Jersey, so even if wine tasting isn’t your thing, I’d still recommend adding it to your itinerary for lunch.

It’s free to enter the estate and take a look around the grounds and restaurant and it’s only £14.95 per person for the vineyard tour and wine-tasting experience, so it’s 100% worth the money!

Jersey Museum, Art Gallery & Victorian House

Once you’ve enjoyed lunch and a tipple or two at La Mare Wine Estate, head back to St Helier to check out the Jersey Museum, Art Gallery & Victorian House.

The Jersey Museum showcases the story of Jersey for free on the ground floor and then you can pay £12.10 to step back in time to 250,000 years ago in the upstairs attraction rooms that depict what life was like when the first people of Jersey arrived on the island.

It wasn’t my favourite place on our Jersey itinerary, but it’s worth visiting for a little while if you’re interested in the history of the places you’re visiting.

Afternoon drink at Botana – 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Botana - 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Just around the corner from the Jersey Museum, you’ll find a beautiful area known as Liberation Square which is home to plenty of fantastic bars and restaurants.

If you’re visiting Jersey in the summer months, I’d recommend heading to Botana which is a gorgeous cocktail bar with outdoor seating overlooking the square.

Stroll along Havre Des Pas

Once you’ve quenched your thirst at Botana, head for a gentle stroll along the waterfront in St Helier known as Havre Des Pas. You’ll find gorgeous sandy beaches, a beautiful swimming area and a pier that you can walk along to enjoy the sea view.

Swim in The Lido

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, don your swimwear and check out The Lido, a tidal pool with changing facilities and toilets.

It’s a great alternative to swimming directly in the sea as it’s surrounded by a sea wall that helps to keep the water flowing in and out a bit more regulated, so it’s much safer for swimming.

Sunset stroll along St Brelade’s Bay

After a quick change and a freshen-up back at your hotel, transfer to St Brelade’s Bay on the southwest coast, approximately a 20-minute drive from St Helier.

St Brelade’s is perhaps the island’s most popular and desirable beach thanks to its stunning golden sand and crystal-clear blue water. We visited St Brelade’s Bay just before dinner at Oyster Box and we somehow had it pretty much all to ourselves.

It’s a stunning beach for a sunset walk or if you want to skip The Lido and Havre Des Pas in St Helier, head straight to St Brelade’s for the afternoon/evening to enjoy its sunbathing and swimming opportunities.

Dinner at Oyster Box – 3 days in Jersey

To conclude your first day in Jersey, reserve a spot for dinner at the stunning Oyster Box restaurant which boasts remarkable views of St Brelade’s Bay and beach.

The menu at Oyster Box is vast and extensive and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a dish that you don’t like! I opted for the pot roast chicken which was absolutely scrumptious and many people on our press trip went for one of the many seafood dishes.

Unfortunately, I’m not a big fan of seafood, but everyone on the trip positively raved about the seafood such as the crab taglierini and the scallops.

Day 2 – 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Day 2 - 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Day 2 of your three days in Jersey involves even more beautiful beaches, castles and coastal walks and also includes some of my favourite places to eat in Jersey!

Check out Gorey Pier/beach

Begin day 2 in Jersey at Gorey Pier, a beautiful fishing pier/beach with adorable little shops, restaurants and cafes.

The coastal views from Gorey Pier are some of the best in Jersey, so it’s worth spending a little while exploring this area before you head to the next stop of the day.

Mont Orgueil Castle – 3 days in Jersey

Mont Orgueil Castle is one of the best things to do in Jersey, not only because the castle itself is utterly breathtaking, but also because it boasts spectacular views out to sea and down to Gorey below.

There are more than 800 years to be discovered within the walls of Mont Orgueil Castle and if you’re feeling up to it, you can climb 200 steps to the very top of the castle to enjoy unparalleled views.

If you’re planning to spend the weekend in Jersey, you can even take advantage of the outdoor yoga sessions every Saturday morning at the top of Mont Orgueil Castle during the summer months.

We took part in an outdoor yoga class with Ashley from Kalimukti and it was certainly one of the most unique places I’ve ever done exercise!

Of course, the castle can still be enjoyed without joining in on a Saturday morning yoga class, but if you are looking for something fun and unique to do in Jersey, I’d highly recommended checking this out!

Entrance to Mont Orguiel Castle costs £15.35 per person, but you can enjoy it for free as part of the Jersey Heritage Pass.

Wander around Rozel Bay

Transfer to Rozel Bay on the northeast of the island where you can explore the beautiful bay and maybe even go for a dip in the sea or hire paddleboards to explore the water!

Lunch at The Hungry Man

The Hungry Man

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, stop by The Hungry Man food kiosk for a spot of lunch.

Serving up substantial burgers, crab sandwiches, hearty portions of fries and breakfast baps, The Hungry Man is a great place for lunch in Jersey, especially if you can grab one of the nearby benches so you can enjoy your food while looking out at Rozel Bay.

Coastal walk – 3 days in Jersey itinerary

If you go for one of the burgers or sandwiches on the menu at The Hungry Man, you’ll likely want to walk it off and the north coast walking route from Rozel Bay gives you plenty of opportunity to do just that!

We were so incredibly lucky with the weather during our three days in Jersey, so the water looked even more magical during our excursion around the coast.

Écréhous RIB trip with Jersey Seafaris

In the afternoon, make your way to St Catherine’s Breakwater a little further down the coast to embark on a thrilling RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) tour to the Écréhous with Jersey Seafaris.

The Écréhous are a group of islands and rock formations situated in the sea almost exactly halfway between Jersey and France.

The RIB tour takes you on an exciting cruise along the reef where you’ll get the chance to spot wildlife such as birds, seals and even dolphins if you’re lucky!

The journey itself is a truly enthralling ride and it can be quite bumpy at times, so bear that in mind if you’re a bit of a nervous sailor! Once you get to the Écréhous, you’ll get the chance to explore the main island before heading back on the RIB to mainland Jersey.

Prices for the Jersey Seafaris Écréhous excursion are as follows:

  • 1.5 hours – £39.99 for adults, £34.99 for children under 16
  • 2 hours – £45.99 for adults, £40.99 for children under 16
  • 3 hours – £55.99 for adults, £49.99 for children under 16

Dinner at La Bastille – 3 days in Jersey

Dinner at La Bastille - 3 days in Jersey

You might be a little sea-soaked after the RIB excursion, so head back to your hotel to get changed before venturing out to dinner at La Bastille.

Situated in the heart of St Helier, La Bastille is just a 5-minute walk from The Club Hotel & Spa, so if you’re staying in the same wonderful hotel that we did, you really don’t have very far to go!

La Bastille is a beautiful bar and brasserie with an excellent menu consisting of dishes such as sea bass, crab linguine and steak. I’d recommend booking a table in advance as every table was full when we visited La Bastille on a Saturday night!

Evening cocktails at The Porter’s Store

The Porter's Store

If you don’t want to end the night there, head to one of the most highly-rated and sought-after establishments in Jersey; The Porter’s Store.

This speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar boasts a vast array of elaborate cocktails and nightcaps. It’s certainly not a cheap place to drink, with most cocktails costing between £13 and £15 each, but the atmosphere is electric and it has true New York cocktail bar vibes that cannot be missed!

Day 3 – 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Day 3 - 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Your final day in Jersey includes a ride on the amphibious “duck boat” to Elizabeth Castle, lunch at El Tico, an afternoon stroll along St Ouen’s Promenade and a relaxing visit to the spa at The Club Hotel.

“Duck boat” (amphibious Castle Ferry) across West Park Marine Park

If you’re staying at The Club Hotel & Spa in Jersey, it’s just a 20-minute walk to the Elizabeth Castle Ferry Kiosk next to West Park Marine Park where you can jump on the amphibious Castle Ferry, also known as a “duck boat”.

The “duck boat” takes you from the sand into the water where it transforms into a boat that takes you across to Elizabeth Castle island. The journey takes less than 10 minutes and while it feels like a strange sensation at first as it moves from land to water, the Castle Ferry is such a fun and unique experience!

You can purchase tickets for the Castle Ferry and Elizabeth Castle for £17.85 as part of a package. Alternatively, it is possible to walk to the castle at low tide, but it’s imperative to check tidal times so that you don’t get stranded on the island!

Elizabeth Castle

Once you arrive on the island, you’ll be able to explore the magnificent grounds of Elizabeth Castle.

Built on a tidal island with views overlooking St Aubin’s Bay, Elizabeth Castle once defended Jersey for more than 400 years!

Spread out amongst a whopping 15 acres of land, the castle fortress and its grounds are one of the best places to visit in Jersey.

The water in St Aubin’s Bay surrounding Elizabeth Castle looks like you’ve stepped straight into the Mediterranean; I don’t think I’ve ever seen such beautiful water in such close proximity to the UK!

The views from the top of the castle fortress are also astonishing and I’d recommend allocating at least an hour on the island to explore its many walls, hidden nooks and fantastic viewpoints.

Lunch at El Tico – 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Lunch at El Tico - 3 days in Jersey itinerary

Once you’re back on mainland Jersey, transfer to the west of the island to El Tico Beach Cantina for lunch.

El Tico was one of the best and most popular places that we ate at during our 3 days in Jersey and that’s largely due to its location right next to St Ouen’s Promenade and beach.

The food and drink at El Tico is also sensational and the vast menu was probably the best we experienced in the whole of Jersey!

Wander down St. Ouen’s Promenade and beach

After lunch, head outside to enjoy one of the best free things to do in Jersey Channel Islands; St Ouen’s Beach.

This long, golden-sand stretch of beach is one of the most beautiful places on the island and I could have quite happily spent an entire day just looking at the beach and sea. It’s the perfect place to sunbathe, go swimming or just enjoy a long, leisurely walk across the sand.

Spa and swimming pool at The Club Hotel & Spa

When you’ve had enough of the beach (I don’t think that’s actually possible in Jersey!), head back to The Club Hotel (providing that you’ve booked to stay there!) to enjoy an afternoon at the on-site spa and swimming pools.

There are dozens of treatments to enjoy at The Club Hotel & Spa, including facials, hot-stone massages, Indian head massages, mud experiences, manicures, pedicures and even hair removal treatments. Check out the full list of treatments, packages and prices on the spa website.

If you don’t feel like indulging in ultimate luxury, opt for an afternoon of lounging by the stunning outdoor pool or go for a few laps in the indoor pool, instead.

Dinner at The Bass & Lobster

The Bass & Lobster Jersey

To conclude the final evening of your weekend in Jersey, make your way to The Bass & Lobster for dinner.

The Bass & Lobster was probably the best restaurant we experienced in Jersey as the food, drink, staff and atmosphere were all wonderful.

I had the “posh” fish and chips with homemade curry sauce and it was probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Every single ingredient is locally sourced and freshly caught and the staff at The Bass & Lobster were remarkably accommodating and attentive to our every need; it’s an incredible place to conclude your time in Jersey!

FAQs about spending 3 days in Jersey

FAQs about spending 3 days in Jersey

How many days should I spend in Jersey?

As part of my press trip to Jersey with Jet2, we spent approximately three and a half days/three nights in Jersey which I think is plenty of time to experience most of what the island has to offer.

You could easily spend just 2 days in Jersey, but if you want to dedicate an afternoon to La Mare Wine Estate and try as many of the island’s best restaurants as possible, I’d recommend spending 3 days in Jersey.

What is the best time to visit Jersey?

Jersey is best visited during the summer months between May and September. We spent 3 days in Jersey at the end of May and the weather was absolutely perfect; it felt like we were on a Mediterranean island!

Of course, the summer months in Jersey will get very busy with tourists, but enjoying the island at its best in the summer sunshine is worth it.

Is Jersey an expensive place to visit?

Jersey can be expensive to visit as a tourist, but it’s not necessarily more expensive than other UK destinations such as London , for example.

A standard 3-course meal in Jersey will likely cost around £50+ per person without drinks. A standard glass of wine can cost around £8, a cocktail can cost as much as £15 in some bars and we even saw a gin and tonic priced at £19.20 in one place!

If you’re looking to visit Jersey on a budget, it’s possible to take advantage of free/cheap activities such as hikes, boat trips and spending time at the beach.

However, despite Jersey being a very expensive place to visit, I still think it’s 100% worth visiting as it’s one of the best places I’ve visited in/near the UK!

Is it better to go to Jersey or Guernsey?

While I haven’t personally been to Guernsey (yet!), from what I could gather from the Visit Jersey tourism board, the general consensus is that Jersey is the better of the two Channel Islands.

It’s the bigger of the two islands and there’s more to do in Jersey than Guernsey. If you want to add an extra day to your Jersey itinerary, I’d recommend adding a day trip to Guernsey so that you can check both islands out for yourself!

Is Jersey warmer than the UK?

Our Bay Tours guide, Jane, told us that Jersey is warmer than the UK by an average of 2°C all year round! While that doesn’t sound like an awful lot of difference, those extra two degrees of warmth make the weather much more enjoyable and even when we visited Jersey at the end of May, temperatures reached 20°C+ and it was absolutely lush!

Do I need a passport to travel to Jersey from the UK?

You don’t technically need your passport to travel to Jersey from the UK, but you do need a valid form of ID such as your driving licence. For ease and convenience, I would personally recommend travelling to Jersey with your passport, just in case.
