For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been an incredibly sentimental person. Whenever I went on holiday, I’d always come home with an array of assorted souvenirs such as seashells, magnets and mugs. When I got old enough and I had my own camera/phone, I would make it my mission to take as many pictures as possible when visiting somewhere new so that I’d have plenty of photos to remember my trip by.
Having spent the best part of the last year travelling New Zealand, Australia and Southeast Asia, it’s fair to say that I took a lot of pictures and I knew that when we arrived home, I wanted a way to collate some of my pictures together in a sort of scrapbook-style manner.

When I first looked on Colorland’s website to choose my design for my photo book, I was absolutely blown away by just how many different designs there are to choose from.
With over 200 classic photo book designs to peruse, there’s definitely something for everyone! The best part? It doesn’t even need to be a travel photo book either!
There are dozens of designs relating to family scrapbooks, Christmas collections, school and graduation books, wedding and baby designs, plus many more. I love the diversity of every single design and even though each book might fit into a certain category, you can tailor the book to completely suit your needs.
My travel book
Of course, being a travel blogger and having recently returned home to the UK after travelling the world for 11 months, I knew exactly what I had in mind when it came to creating my very own travel photo scrapbook.
I wanted a design that reflected our trip beautifully so I opted for the travel map design. With 50 pages and the option to add as many images per page as I wanted, this book was the perfect way for me to collate some of my very favourite pictures from our travels.
I separated my book into different sections based on each country we visited. During our 11 month trip, we travelled to 9 countries in total, so I spread out my images and pages accordingly.
One thing in particular that I do want to mention about the Colorland photo book is just how impressed I am with the final product. The quality of the book is truly astounding (I went for the hardcover with matt laminate); the front and back cover of the book is solid so I know it won’t be getting damaged any time soon.
With regards to the pages inside, they’re also incredibly high quality and the finish of the images is spectacular; I was slightly apprehensive that the image quality would be reduced somewhat once the book went to print, but I really couldn’t be happier with the final design.
Choosing the pictures that I wanted to include in my travel photo book was the hardest part! I took so many amazing pictures in so many countries that I really struggled to narrow it down so that they all fit in one book!
Finding my favourite images from places such as New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand wasn’t an easy task but I really wanted to ensure that I created a final product that would last for years and would provide me with the opportunity to reflect on our travels with fond memories.
Creating a visual product in order to relive some of the best experiences of your life can sometimes be a tricky task to navigate but using the photo book services at Colorland allowed me to not only relish in the creative process, but to also have a physical book that contains recollections of the most epic travel moments of my life.
Creating a photo book
With so many designs to choose from, plus so many ways to personalise your photo book, you can create something that’s truly unique to you.
I love the way you can add photos, text, quotes, backgrounds, frames and even clipart to create a photo book that’s truly yours. I’m not much of a fan of photo books with lots of text (I prefer the images to do the talking), but I did add a few captions to each picture so I knew exactly where the picture was taken.
One of the best things about creating a unique photo book on Colorland is that you can save your design, exit the page and then go back and edit it at any time. This is an extremely convenient feature as it means you have the freedom and flexibility to create your book at your own leisurely pace, instead of having to rush through it in one sitting.
It also gives you the chance to collate all the pictures you want to use, upload them and then decide which pictures should go where. I thoroughly enjoyed the creative process of putting my travel photo book together as not only did it give me the chance to look through all my travel pictures, but it allowed me to put my time and effort into a finished product that I’ll be able to cherish forever.
