One of my absolute favourite things about going away – whether it’s just for the night, or for two whole weeks – is staying in a hotel room.
There’s just something about staying in a hotel room that makes me so happy and giddy and whether it’s a five star luxury suite, or just your standard Premier Inn, I always get so excited! So I’m sure you can imagine my excitement and enthusiasm when we rocked up at the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments on our first night in Prague; I don’t think I’ve ever stayed somewhere so ‘me’.
The Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments were an absolutely stunning choice of accommodation while we were in Prague and I really couldn’t have been happier! In this post you’ll find an extensive review of our stay at the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments, and what you can expect from a few days of luxury while staying there!
- Two toilets
- Sleeps four guests
- 80m2 floor space
- Air conditioning
- Accessible via elevator and stairs
The Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments are situated in the Karlín district in Praha 8. It wasn’t exactly in the centre of town but the main attractions of Prague (Old Town Square, Charles Bridge etc) were all incredibly accessible by Metro, tram or even walking – which took about 30-40 minutes depending on your pace.
We actually used the Metro an awful lot during our stay; the closest stop to our apartment was Křižíkova (literally a two minute walk from the front door!) so it made getting out and about so convenient and accessible!
As for the actual location of the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments, we couldn’t have been happier. We were on a relatively busy street full of cars, but we were absolutely delighted to discover that there was very minimal noise while we were inside the apartment.
Just around the corner of our Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments, was a plethora of delicious eateries, cake shops, off licences and cafes. It wasn’t heaving with the bustling nightlife of Prague that you find closer to the centre but it still had enough atmosphere to make it a truly enjoyable place to base ourselves while in Prague.
Now for the good stuff – the interior of the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments!
Our particular apartment was located on the third floor, and while there wasn’t any particularly spectacular views to be seen from our windows, it was still nice to have the height advantage.
As soon as we walked in, I genuinely let out a little yelp because I couldn’t believe just how enormous the place was! When you live in a tiny studio apartment like us, any place with more than one room is a huge bonus! There was a great big hallway as we walked in, which led to the most beautiful, clean and spacious living area.
The whole room was remarkably bright and airy and the furnishings were absolutely stunning; I desperately wanted to take that bookcase home! The high ceilings, white walls and wooden flooring made the place look so sophisticated and elegant and both Matt and I said it’s exactly the kind of place we could see ourselves living in!
While the sofa wasn’t exactly the comfiest I’d ever experienced, I was willing to let it slide when we discovered that it actually pulled out into a double sofa bed; perfect for cosying up and watching TV after a full day of exploring!
The interior design was probably my favourite thing about our stay at the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments; it was so classic and minimalist but it had such a unique charm to it, I couldn’t help but fall in love!
Matt and I are more than used to cooking in our tiny kitchen in our studio apartment so we absolutely marvelled at the size of the kitchen in the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments! The white decor made the whole place look even better, and everything was absolutely spotless!
There were also so many utilities available for our use in the apartment including a dishwasher, table and chairs set, enormous oven, huge fridge/freezer, microwave and a dryer! The only thing that it was missing was a toaster which seemed like the most obvious thing to have but alas, we certainly didn’t complain!
As I’m sure you’re aware if you read my post all about where to eat and drink in Prague, you’ll know that we didn’t really spend much time eating in our apartment while in Prague but from the amazing facilities available, it would have been remarkably easy to spend all our time there!
Accessible via two sliding doors from the living area, the bedroom was situated next to the bathroom and offered a huge window with sprawling views of the street below.
The stunning decor of the apartment carried all the way into the bedroom, with white, black and red being the dominant colour scheme. Equipped with a fully functional air conditioning system, bedside tables and a huge, floor-length, free standing mirror, the bedroom was an idyllic haven to retreat to after a very busy day of exploring Prague.
The bed itself was huge, incredibly comfortable and an absolute treat to sleep in after such a busy day. The only slight downside of the room was that the blinds didn’t quite offer enough protection from the sunlight outside so we found the room to be not as dark as we would have ideally liked.
However, that was a small price to pay in order to sleep in such a heavenly paradise!
As for the bathroom, it was an absolute dream come true and reminded me very much of a luxurious spa! While it was lacking in terms of an actual bath, the enormous shower and sink facilities more than made up for it and we couldn’t have been more impressed with all the wonderful toiletries and space available in the bathroom.
The shower had two shower heads available which is always an added luxurious bonus when it comes to staying in a hotel or apartment as it’s not often something you see in most people’s homes!
The huge bathroom mirror made it incredibly easy and accessible for me to do my hair and makeup and as there was already a hairdryer fitted into the wall, it meant that I didn’t have to bring my own which meant more room in my case for snuggly jumpers!
As the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments are obviously apartments and not a hotel, it’s kind of hard to judge the level of service offered. However, the main reception desk was monitored by one or two people during the day and everyone that we met as we were coming and going were incredibly lovely, welcoming and extremely helpful.
We arrived in Prague quite late at night on our first night so there was no one to let us in the building but the wonderful staff at Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments sent us an email complete with detailed instructions on how to access the building and get the key to our room. We were very pleased that the whole process was so easy so we didn’t have to worry about someone letting us in (which is often the case with many apartments and Airbnb).
We paid roughly €46 (£40) each per night for our room at the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments – about £335 for four nights between us – and I think I’d probably pay double that considering the impressiveness of the suite! It was 100% worth the price and I would absolutely pay that and more again!
Would I stay again?
I really can’t rave about the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments enough and I would definitely recommend staying there to anyone who’s looking for somewhere affordable and luxurious to stay in Prague.
The apartment was just overwhelmingly beautiful, the staff on reception were lovely and the location couldn’t have been better. I’m already dreaming about going back to Prague just so we can stay at the Empirent Karlín Residence Apartments again!
