Anyone who knows me, you’ll know that I hate exercise with a ferocious passion, always have and probably always will. It’s something that I wish I could enjoy and do more but it’s just not something that exhilarates me in the slightest.
However, one form of exercise that I genuinely do enjoy is walking, whether it’s just my 20-minute walk to work, or whether I’m spending hours walking around a new city exploring everything that it has to offer, it really is something that I love doing.
Having said that, I don’t think I’ve ever really been on a ‘designated’ walking holiday which is what today’s post is all about. Here’s a list of the best UK walking holidays you need to try!
Inntravel specialises in ‘slow’ holidays which are carefully and thoughtfully curated to each individual’s needs. Their self-guided holidays allow you to embark on an inspiring journey, whether you’re walking, cycling or even travelling by train, they endeavour to make your holiday as relaxing, enjoyable and authentic as possible.
With self-guided holidays throughout the most remote corners of Europe, Inntravel have been creating bespoke walking holidays since 1984.
The best walking holidays in the UK

1. Yorkshire Gastronomic Trail – best walking holidays in the UK
One thing in particular that resonated with me about Inntravel is their Yorkshire Gastronomic Trail; being a proud Yorkshire girl myself, I was proud to see Inntravel catering to everyone’s needs and showcasing just how beautiful the Yorkshire countryside is.
The YGT holiday provides you with an eclectic mix of self-guided walking, superb quality dining at Michelin star restaurants and delightful stays at some of the most stunning countryside hotels.
Furthermore, this particular trail allows you to discover the wonders of the ‘Yorkshire Food Capital’ – Malton – where you can enjoy delectable dishes at the Malton Food Lovers Festival. Walking, beautiful views and yummy food? Count me in!
You all know how much I love my city breaks but you may be surprised to discover that I do occasionally like to dabble in a spot of countryside living and I think the Yorkshire Gastronomic Trail would be utterly perfect for this.
2. A Cotswolds Treat
The stunning scenery, quaint little villages and bespoke, authentic cottages are all reasons why the Cotswolds stand out as a go-to destination for me.
With Inntravel, my dreams of spending a weekend in the quintessential countryside could be realised. A self-guided walking tour from each hotel with your luggage transported for you makes for an intriguing getaway. I’d love to discover the history of the Cotswolds while sipping on something fresh, fruity and delicious. I really can’t imagine a more perfect weekend away.

3. Landscapes of the Peak District
One place that I’d love to spend more time in is the Peak District. With stunning towns such as Bakewell and Chatsworth, magical rivers and breathtaking views, the Peak District is somewhere that I’d love to visit with Inntravel on one of their walking holidays.
4. Classic Yorkshire Dales
The Yorkshire Gastronomic Trail isn’t the only Yorkshire-based walking holiday that Inntravel offers; their Classic Yorkshire Dales offering appears to be immensely popular too.
This walking tour holiday offers guests an insight into the classic backdrops of the Yorkshire Dales as well as admiring the Dales’ outstanding history in the form of ancient castles such as Castle Bolton.

The thing I love the most about Inntravel’s walking holiday offerings is that they’re all unique and bespoke, with each one tailored to the individual’s needs. The Yorkshire Gastronomic Trail has proved to be a hit with many as it showcases everything that Yorkshire has to offer, from the gorgeous countryside to lovely hotels nestled away in the most beautiful villages to the plethora of different dishes that you’ll find along the way.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed holiday that still provides you with stunning landscapes and fervent history, Inntravel can help tailor your holiday to suit you.

I absolutely love walking holidays! Debra-Bow and I went on a gorgeous walk through the Peak District on our night away there, taking in the views of Alderley Edge, and we had such a good time! Getting out into nature and listening to the birds singing is lovely… until the inevitable rain starts because y’know, it’s the UK! ???? The Cotswolds sounds like a wonderful place to stay, I need to check out InnTravel!
