6 years of blogging.
It’s been six whole years since I decided to create my first-ever blog post and share my thoughts, feelings, travels and more with the world and I’m overwhelmed with the fact that it’s been well over half a decade since I made the decision to start a blog.
Check out five years, four years, three years, two years and one year of blogging here!
Little did I know that six years later, it would have literally changed my life in so many ways. This blog has allowed me to travel to over 30 countries and in the last 12 months alone, since I wrote my five years of blogging post, I’ve been to 15 countries, completed a 3-month cross-country USA road trip, visited an entirely new continent (South America), been on my first-ever cruise, embarked on a European interrailing trip and so much more.
I’ve also been nominated for another two awards in the digital content creation space; one for “digital woman of the year” with Digital Women and one for “travel blogger of the year” at the Yorkshire Blogger Awards. These award nominations mean so much to me and they’re something I could never have imagined happening when I first started writing on the internet all the way back in 2016.

Arguably the biggest and most exciting opportunity that this blog has afforded me is the opportunity to WRITE A FREAKING BOOK!
In May 2022, a huge publisher in America got in touch with me after reading my New York content and offered me a book commission to write about date ideas in New York City. Writing a book has always been my number one lifelong dream and being given the opportunity to write my first ever book about my favourite place in the world means more to me than I could ever put into words.
The process of writing the book was incredibly enjoyable and while it was difficult and somewhat scary at times, it’s one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done and I cannot wait for it to be released next spring.
You can buy a copy of the book here if you fancy!

We’ve enjoyed so many wonderful travel experiences over the last 12 months as well. From our cruise in the Caribbean to the best road trip from New York to California to actually living in NYC for one month over Christmas and New Year, this has been a huge year for us, both personally and professionally.
After almost two years of very limited travel due to the pandemic, being able to get back out into the world again and see so many wonderful places, meet so many remarkable people and enrich our lives with the most life-changing experiences means so much to me.
When I think of all the opportunities that this little space of the internet has created for me, it truly fills my heart with so much joy. I will never, ever take it for granted and I adore the fact that I can call writing my job.
These yearly celebration posts are definitely more for me to look back on than to share anything of huge importance with you guys, but I do want to express how insanely grateful I am for every single person that reads any of my posts, comments, likes or shares or tells me that I’ve inspired them in anyway.
I started I’m Just A Girl as an outlet to share my creative side and immense passion for writing and while I always loved the idea of it “going somewhere”, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would afford me the life it has.
So, thank you. To each and every single person who has helped me and supported me in any and every way. There are no words to express my immense gratitude and I’m going to have to conclude this post here because it’s making me tear up in a small coffee shop in Carlisle as I write it!
Here’s to another 6 years of blogging, and hopefully many, many more!
