Are you planning a cruise holiday with Royal Caribbean but not sure which cruise ship to choose? Check out my ultimate review of our 10-day Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas cruise!
A cruise is a type of holiday that I thought I wouldn’t experience until I was at least 60+ years old. However, when we were in Mexico for 6 weeks in March/April 2022 and we were trying to decide where to travel next, we decided that the Caribbean would be a pretty cool place to experience.
Unfortunately, when we started to check flight itineraries from Mexico into and around the Caribbean Islands, we couldn’t believe how expensive flights were and how difficult it appeared to get around the Caribbean.
Matt jokingly suggested that we do a cruise, but we both always thought that cruises were one of the most expensive ways to travel and that people who I knew had been on a cruise before, had paid upwards of £3,000.
Upon checking the Royal Caribbean website, however, we were unbelievably delighted to discover that last-minute cruise prices were insanely cheap. So, after discussing our options, we settled on a 10-night Caribbean cruise onboard Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship.
Right up until we boarded the ship, however, I wasn’t sure that we’d made the right decision as I’d never really heard of people in their twenties going on a cruise unless they were on their honeymoon but, spoiler alert, our cruise around the Caribbean was probably the best holiday I’ve ever been on and I already can’t wait to go on another one!
In my guide below, I’ve put together my ultimate Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas review.
From the food to the staff to the island excursions in different ports around the Caribbean, I’ve compiled my experience of a Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas cruise into a huge review that includes everything you need to know, regardless of whether it’s your first-ever cruise or just your first time embarking on the Grandeur of the Seas ship!

What to expect from a Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas Cruise

Before we embarked on our 10-night Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas cruise, I truly didn’t know what to expect. I had no idea how good the food would be, how friendly the staff would be, how many awesome people we’d meet or what the interior of the ship even looked like.
Now, however, thanks to my recent experience of enjoying this incredible cruise ship, I’m fully equipped with the knowledge to share its awesomeness with you guys, so check out my detailed review of the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship!
The Centrum (deck 4)

The Centrum is the main area of the ship and as soon as we embarked on the ship and started to take a look around, I was utterly captivated by the majestic Centrum.
The main part of The Centrum is located on deck 4 and this is where you’ll find the Grandeur of the Seas resident band playing numerous times throughout the day. It’s also where the R Bar is located (more on that below) and you get a great view of The Centrum from the balconies on the higher-level decks as well.
There are also see-through glass elevators that take you down to The Centrum, plus a grand staircase that exudes true opulence; I felt like royalty while descending that staircase!
R Bar (deck 4)

I’ve already briefly mentioned the R Bar in the section above, but this is the place to hang out on Grandeur of the Seas if you want to enjoy delicious cocktails, large glasses of vino and beers from around the world or, of course, soft drinks aplenty.
Of course, there are also plenty of other places to drink or just hang out around the ship, which I’ve included more information about below, but the R Bar has a special place in my heart as it’s the place where we spent many evenings hanging out with our new friends.
The bartenders at the R Bar are also bloody fantastic; they learn your names and preferred drinks almost immediately and the level of service you receive is just unbelievable.
Schooner Bar (deck 6)

The Schooner Bar is another great place on the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship where you can enjoy a leisurely cocktail and it’s also the place where you’ll usually find all the daily quizzes being hosted.
On an evening, there’s also a jazz pianist who plays in the Schooner Bar which offers a wonderful, relaxing background ambience.
South Pacific Lounge (deck 6)

Through the back of the Schooner Bar, resides the South Pacific Lounge which is where various events and activities are held throughout the cruise, including bingo, the Silent Disco and various art auctions.
It’s a truly beautiful cabin with gorgeous views out to sea and we had so much fun hanging out and taking part in many activities in the South Pacific Lounge.
Great Gatsby Dining Room (deck 4/5)

The Great Gatsby Dining Room is as elegant as it sounds and this is where we ate dinner most nights while onboard the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship.
The food here was wonderful but it’s the service of the wait staff that I want to mention most importantly as I have truly never experienced such impeccable service from any dining experience in my life!
Our servers were the same every evening which made it so much more enjoyable and personable and Matias, Nestor and Zarah were truly some of the nicest people I’ve ever encountered!
Chops Grille (deck 6)

Chops Grille is one of the paid-for dining options on the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship and while we didn’t eat there during our cruise, we did hear from numerous people that it’s a great fine dining experience if you want an extra special meal while you’re cruising.
You’ll find slightly fancier dinner options such as high-quality steaks and seafood options at Chops Grille, so if you want to splash out and enjoy a more exclusive dinner on your cruise, this is a great option.
Windjammer Cafe (deck 9)

I told you there are plenty of dining options onboard Grandeur of the Seas!
While we certainly loved dining in the Great Gatsby Dining Room, we also really loved eating at the Windjammer Cafe buffet. We ate here almost every day for lunch and we also enjoyed dinner here on a couple of evenings, too.
The food here isn’t quite as fancy or sophisticated as it is in the Great Gatsby Dining Room, but if you prefer buffet-style eating, the Windjammer Cafe can cater to your every need. There are tonnes of food options to choose from and as it’s a buffet-style dining experience, you can eat as much as you want!
We also preferred to eat breakfast in the Windjammer Cafe as opposed to the Great Gatsby room as we found that the food was slightly higher quality for breakfast and we loved the fact that we could eat as much as we wanted!
The Windjammer Cafe itself is also a beautiful location, with vast windows that boast stunning views out to sea, so it’s a truly lovely place to enjoy breakfast, lunch and even dinner on some evenings (they don’t offer dinner every single night, however).
The Palladium Theatre (deck 5/6)

The Palladium Theatre is one of Grandeur of the Seas’ top entertainment hotspots. Throughout the cruise, there are shows and performances on an almost nightly basis, from the ship’s resident performers Broadway Rhythm and Rhyme and Tango Buenos Aires to the occasional magician (Chris Dugdale performed while we were on board and my God, it was one of the best things I’ve ever witnessed and we also hung out with him in the Schooner Bar the following day and he did close-up magic for us; it was awesome!), as well as numerous musicians, singers, comedians and more!
All the entertainment and shows on the ship are included in the cost of the cruise, so you can enjoy as much entertainment as you want, completely free of charge!
Casino (deck 5)

Grandeur of the Seas’ onboard casino is like a mini Vegas casino and even if you’re not a big gambler and you don’t want to partake in any of the tables or slot machines, it’s still worth having a nosey around the Royal Casino as it’s very impressive to see such a huge space on a ship!
Swimming pool/lounging area/movie screen (deck 9)

Undoubtedly one of the coolest areas on Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship resides on deck 9 and that’s the giant swimming pool/lounge area/enormous movie screen.
This area of the ship is perfect for enjoying during the full days at sea as there are plenty of sun loungers located on both decks 9 and 10, plus the swimming pool and the whirlpools are an idyllic way to cool off during the hot summer cruising months, especially around the Caribbean.
Of course, you can enjoy the swimming pool and lounge area at any time during your cruise, it doesn’t just have to be on cruising days, but we took full advantage of the ability to do very little apart from relaxing by the pool and soak up the sunshine.
The Solarium (deck 9)

The Solarium is another area of the ship that’s perfect for relaxing and unwinding and if you’re travelling without kids, you’ll be happy to know that the Solarium is an adults-only area!
It’s a partially-indoor pool, complete with several whirlpools and plenty of sun loungers, so if you want to soak up the lovely warmth of the ship, without sitting in direct sunlight, it’s utterly perfect for doing so!
Vitality at Sea Spa (deck 9/10)

The Vitality Spa on the cruise ship is the place to be if you’re looking for even more opulence and relaxation during your cruise.
With a state-of-the-art gym, sauna and steam room system, plus dozens of spa treatments to choose from, the Vitality Spa is an incredible feature of the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship.
Of course, the spa treatments and massages don’t come free and in fact, they’re pretty pricey for most of them, so we skipped those while we were on the cruise. We did, however, take advantage of the free steam room and sauna.
Running track/climbing wall/shuffleboard (deck 10)

If you’re looking to maintain your exercise routine while you’re on a cruise, then you needn’t worry as the ship’s running track provides the perfect opportunity for you to get your steps in (I worked out that it was approximately 500 steps walking around deck 10 on the running track) or if you want a more intense workout, you can always run around the track!
There’s also an amazing rock climbing wall at the very back of the ship on deck 10 which is certainly not for the faint-hearted! Matt managed to get to the top of the wall, but I barely got a third of the way up before I started to feel a little wobbly!
Centrum Shops (deck 6)

I’ve already talked about The Centrum in great detail, but I also wanted to mention the awesome Centrum Shops which you can find on deck 6, just before the Palladium Theatre.
The shops boast a range of goodies that you can purchase onboard, including souvenir gifts, alcohol (which you can purchase but cannot drink until you leave the ship on the last day, unfortunately), jewellery, designer handbags, perfume, clothes and much more.
The onboard liquor store has tonnes of alcohol to purchase which is then held until you disembark the ship but the best part of the liquor shop is that there are numerous alcohol tastings throughout the cruise, usually on cruising days which are so much fun and a great way to try new alcohol without having to spend a penny!
Viking Crown Lounge (deck 11)

The Viking Crown Lounge is described as the ship’s onboard disco and as younger travellers, we expected this to be a cool place on the Grandeur of the Seas cruise, but every time we went to the 11th deck to check it out, it was pretty quiet.
However, the ship only had around 700-800 people onboard, whereas it normally holds around 2,500 people, so we assumed that the Viking Crown Lounge wasn’t as busy as usual due to there being fewer people onboard. The bar area is still a cool place to hang out, however, even if it’s not super busy.
Adventure Ocean/Video Arcade (deck 10)

We didn’t realise that there was a whole area dedicated to kids and teenagers on the ship until our very last day, but as we weren’t travelling with children, I suppose it makes sense that we bypassed this area of the ship entirely!
The Adventure Ocean and Video Arcade areas are such cool places for kids and teens to hang out; Adventure Ocean is dedicated to a younger audience, almost like a nursery or crèche where parents can leave their children for a little while.
The Video Arcade, on the other hand, is the perfect hang-out spot for older kids who want to experience a bit of independence away from their parents while on the cruise ship, but it’s still a super safe space that’s regularly monitored by staff.
Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas cabins and suites

There are four room types to choose from on the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship; interior, outside view, balcony and suites.
For our first cruise, we booked an interior room which meant that it didn’t have a window inside our room. We decided to go for an interior room as we didn’t think that we’d be spending too much time in our room and we were right; the interior room worked perfectly for us on our first cruise and I’d happily opt for it again if it was the much cheaper option.
A little disclaimer: we were actually upgraded to an outside view room four days into our cruise as our neighbours in the room next door were horribly loud and they were even kicked off the ship for bad behaviour so the incredibly kind Guest Services staff moved us to a new room which happened to be a gorgeous outside view room!
In terms of the balcony rooms and suites, I can’t actually comment on how good they are as we didn’t stay in one and I didn’t get the chance to see how big they are while onboard the ship. However, after conducting research on the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship and from comments that I’ve gathered from other travellers, I think the more elegant and sophisticated (and therefore much more expensive) rooms are better suited to older travellers who will probably spend more time in their room or suite.
Balcony rooms and suites are also usually twice the price of an interior or outside view room, sometimes even more, so unless you want to experience a truly high-end way of travelling on a cruise ship, I think a standard interior or window view room should do the trick!
Pros of Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas

- We met some of the most awesome people I’ve ever encountered in my entire life.
- We found a delicious rosé that we liked and drank pretty much exclusively for the entire cruise (a White Zinfandel).
- The rooms are much bigger than I expected, even with no window.
- The live band in the Centrum makes for excellent background music.
- You really get to know the staff and their names and backgrounds etc.
- Everyone is ridiculously friendly.
- There’s so much more space than I ever realised.
- The shower is amazing and so powerful, although it is very small.
- The food in every onboard restaurant and cafe is incredible and there is so much choice.
- There is always something going on, so you’re never bored.
Cons of Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas

I think you can probably tell by my profound gushing so far in this review of Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship that I seriously cannot rave about my first-ever cruise experience enough.
However, as much as I truly loved it, I always want to ensure that my blog remains as honest and as authentic as possible so that I can provide you guys with as much information as possible so that you can make your own decisions based on my travel experiences.
Therefore, I’ve included a few of the slight issues I encountered onboard the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship, just so that you’re fully informed!
- The toilet in our first room smelled a bit funny which I suppose is to be expected on a ship in the middle of the ocean! You also have to really shove the button in hard and hold it in for a few seconds to ensure that it flushes properly.
- The walls in the rooms are quite thin so it can be a little noisy, especially if you have loud neighbours (like we did in our first room).
- I felt super motion sick and dizzy on the first night, but this completely subsided by the following morning and I was fine for the rest of the cruise.
- As it was a repositioning cruise, the ship wasn’t at full capacity so it felt a little quiet at times, but we actually kind of enjoyed this for our first cruise experience.
- Gratuity is set at a daily rate of $14.50 per person, with an 18% charge added to every single purchase onboard the ship. I am always more than happy to pay gratuity and tip for good service, so I kind of wished that it wasn’t compulsory to pay a set amount each day per person, but I’m just so glad that the service we received on the ship was exceptional and worth the amount we had to tip.
- The ship’s ATM charges you $6.50 in withdrawal fees which is pretty steep and it actually stopped working for the first 24 hours that we were on the ship, so we had to use a local bank in Grenada at our first port instead.
Grandeur of the Seas cruise review – dress code

I’ve written a full blog post dedicated to exactly what you need to pack for a Royal Caribbean cruise, but I know that many people will have a fair few questions about the dress code situation onboard Grandeur of the Seas.
From my personal experience, the dress code on our cruise was much more laidback than I’d anticipated. I’d read numerous blog posts and reviews before embarking on our cruise that suggested that cruise attire tends to be pretty formal most of the time and while that might be the case on other cruise lines, I didn’t find Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas to be too strict at all.
Of course, on the ship’s formal nights (held on day 2 and day 8 of our cruise), you are encouraged and almost expected to dress nicely, with some people opting for super formal wear such as tuxedos and ballgowns, whereas others (like us) opt for a nice dress or jumpsuit and a simple shirt and chinos combination for the men.
In terms of attire during the day, you can expect most people to be dressed pretty casually, with shorts and t-shirts being accepted pretty much all over the ship.
You are expected to cover up for breakfast and lunch (and dinner, of course) which means no swimwear and you must wear a top and shoes, but apart from that, we didn’t find the clothing situation to be too strict or formal like we were anticipating!

Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas cruise review – activities

I could honestly write an entire blog post about all the wonderful activities you can experience and take part in onboard Grandeur of the Seas; there are just so many!
I’m so happy that we managed to take part in plenty of fun activities on our cruise, some of which I never expected us to do as they were a little out of our comfort zones at times, but this meant that we really pushed ourselves which resulted in one of the best holiday experiences of my life!
Below, you can see just a few of the awesome activities and events that are available on Grandeur of the Seas, all of which we took part in!

- Shuffleboard
- Drinks in the R Bar
- British TV theme tune quiz
- Learnt how to play craps in the casino
- Hush silent disco
- Watched a comedian in the Palladium Theatre
- Saw the remarkable Kuba – an insanely talented musician
- Watched an awesome magician called Chris Dugdale perform – this was truly one of the highlights of the cruise!
- Took part in an art auction (we didn’t buy anything!)
- A raffle on cruising days
- Numerous general knowledge quizzes (we won once!)
- Friends quiz (which we won and scored 19/20!)
- Couples game show (we didn’t win, but this was so much fun!)
- My first ever karaoke experience (we sang Take Me Home, Country Roads with Bonnie and Lynn!)
- Plus SO much more!
Grandeur of the Seas cruise review – notable staff

This point might not exactly be relevant in years to come as naturally staff will change and leave regularly, but I just wanted to make a note of some of the incredible members of staff that we were lucky enough to meet on our Grandeur of the Seas cruise with Royal Caribbean in April/May 2022.
- Jan was our stateroom attendant from Manila in the Philippines and he was the most accommodating and friendly guy. He learned our names from the second we got on the ship and would always check in with us and regularly stop to chat whenever we were leaving/returning to our room. He even gave us his phone number and told us to get in touch if we’re ever back in the Philippines which we will 100% do as I honestly don’t think I’ve met a nicer member of staff before.
- Matias was our head waiter in the Great Gatsby dining room. He’s from the Dominican Republic and would always check in with us while we were eating to ensure everything was OK and I feel so lucky to have been looked after by him.
- Nestor was our main waiter in the Great Gatsby dining room and he was the nicest guy who remembered our name immediately. He also recommended different dishes for us each night based on what we typically ordered and this level of service certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
- Zarah was another one of our waitresses in the Great Gatsby dining room on an evening; she was so sweet and friendly and I absolutely loved her.
- Leizle is another wonderful member of staff onboard Grandeur of the Seas from the Philippines who regularly served us in the Schooner Bar during the many daily quizzes. She learnt the wine that we liked straight away and would just know what we wanted to order and she even helped us out with one of the quizzes one day!
- TJ is from the UK and he was the resident “Quizmaster” on Grandeur of the Seas. At the time of our cruise in April/May 2022, he’d been on the ship for 6 months straight with only 7 hours in total on dry land during that time! We spent many evenings chatting with TJ and if he didn’t pretty much live on a cruise ship, I think we’d be firm friends!
- Luiz is from Brazil and he works in the liquor store on board the ship and does liquor tastings on sea days. He’s such a super nice person and he even did a private tasting for us with friends one evening!
- Darlene is one of the bar staff at R Bar in the Centrum. He’s from the Dominican Republic and was so chatty and friendly and we only really properly got to know him because of the wonderful friends we made!
- David, from Mexico, was another one of the R Bar staff and he was such a cool guy. He knew exactly what drinks everyone loved and he would happily stand and chat with you for ages.
- Archie also works in the R Bar and he’s from the Philippines. He’s so super friendly and chatty and he always made our drinking experiences so fun!

Top tips – Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas cruise review

Below, you’ll find even more information and top tips for experiencing Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship!
- If you don’t want to do a particular excursion that’s offered by Royal Caribbean when you visit a port, city or island as part of your cruise, find a local taxi driver to take you around (we did this in Grenada and Bonaire and it was a much cheaper way of experiencing the different stops on the cruise, rather than paying a small fortune for the cruise-approved excursions.)
- I would argue that the Windjammer buffet food is better than most evening meals in the Great Gatsby Dining Room, but it’s so nice to dress up for the evening meals in the Great Gatsby Dining Room and the food is still incredible in there, I just personally preferred the Windjammer offerings a lot of the time.
- Bottled water on the ship costs $3 for 500ml, and as we drink tonnes of water between us every day, there was just no way that I was paying that! We discovered that there are water filling stations on decks 6 and 10, so we just used these every day to refill our water bottles!
- Before you embark on the ship, you are provided with a Sea Pass Card that acts as your form of identity while on the cruise so you need to take it with you when you get on and off the ship, plus you use it to make purchases on board and it also acts as your room key.
FAQs about Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas cruise review

If you’re still not convinced that a Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas cruise is for you, I’ve included a detailed FAQ section below which includes more information about the cruise and what you can expect!
Of course, if you have any more questions about the Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship or indeed, just a Royal Caribbean cruise in general, please let me know in the comments or feel free to email me!
What to pack for a Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas cruise
Packing for a 10-day cruise was something that I was really worried about before our first cruise, but thankfully I’ve now got the experience to share my ultimate guide about how to pack for a Caribbean cruise!
How much does the cruise cost? – Grandeur Of The Seas cruise review
We paid £417 each for the 10-night Grandeur of the Seas Royal Caribbean cruise from Barbados to Galveston , stopping in 6 different ports (Grenada, Bonaire, Curaçao, Panama, Costa Rica and Cozumel) along the way.
This didn’t include flights from Mexico City to Barbados (we paid approximately £450 for two of us to fly from Mexico City to Miami to Trinidad and Tobago to Barbados – it was a 33-hour journey and it was the only way to get there that was relatively cheap!).
What extra costs can I expect onboard Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas?
Once we were on the cruise, we spent roughly an additional $1000 (approx £800) for the two of us.
This included the following costs:
- $290 (approx £231) on compulsory daily gratuities for two people ($14.50 each per day).
- $403.24 (approx £322) on alcoholic beverages for two people for the 10-day cruise.
- $327.98 (approx £261.55) on cruise-approved shore excursions in Panama and Curaçao.
- $60 (approx £48) for two people for extra excursions on land.
Is there Wi-Fi on board the Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas cruise ship?
You can get Wi-Fi on the ship, but unfortunately, it doesn’t come for free! You can purchase a Wi-Fi package that varies in price depending on when you purchase it, how long you want it (daily pass or for the whole cruise), and what kind of deal you can get from Royal Caribbean.
We decided against getting Wi-Fi onboard, firstly because it was pretty expensive (we were told it would be $30 a day for each device!) and we also wanted the “challenge” of being without internet for 10 days so that we could fully immerse ourselves in the cruise experience without having the distraction of our phones and it was also great to take some properly dedicated time off work, especially as our working lives fully revolve around being on the internet!
Is a cruise just for older generations?
Ever since I first learned about what a cruise was, I always assumed that cruises were just for older generations but after spending 10 days onboard Grandeur of the Seas, I can safely say that they’re not just for retired travellers with a lot of time on their hands!
Sure, the majority of passengers on board our cruise were aged 60 and above, but we never once felt out of place while cruising. I think cruises get a reputation for being better suited to older travellers because they’re typically a more leisurely way to travel and they’re ideal for people with more time on their hands, but that certainly doesn’t mean to say that younger travellers can’t enjoy them too.
There is an entire part of the ship dedicated to young children and teenagers as well, so if you’re travelling with kids, you can rest assured that they won’t be too bored.
Do you get motion sickness onboard the ship? – Grandeur Of The Seas cruise review
Experiencing motion sickness was one of my biggest fears before embarking on our first cruise but I was happy to discover that it didn’t really affect me at all.
I felt a little wobbly on the first night on board the ship, but I think that was because it was my first time on a boat for longer than an hour so it just took a few hours to get used to. After that, we only had one day at sea where it was a little rocky during dinner time, but it didn’t make me feel too sick, I almost just felt tipsy!
If you do suffer from extreme motion or travel sickness, I’d recommend stocking up on anti-sickness medication and remedies so that you’re prepared for any ship “turbulence”!
Do you ever get bored on a cruise?
This was yet another one of my many musings and queries before we embarked on the cruise but I can now safely say that I didn’t feel bored once!
There are so many activities to take part in on the ship, especially on cruising days where you’re at sea for pretty much 24 hours straight and then on the days where you’re visiting different ports and islands, you’ll likely spend hours off the ship exploring the local towns and beaches.
I’ve listed just a handful of the many activities that we took part in on the ship in the section above and there are dozens more things to enjoy too, so you’re very unlikely to experience boredom while you’re onboard.
Are there things to do for kids onboard Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas?
Grandeur of the Seas isn’t necessarily a cruise ship that’s entirely dedicated to providing entertainment for young kids and teenagers, but I was pretty impressed to discover that it still has plenty of things for children to do while on board the ship.
From the Adventure Ocean kids programme to the video games room and the arcade to the swimming pool on deck 9 and numerous kid-friendly activities hosted throughout the day, I think there are plenty of things to keep kids entertained.
Is the Royal Caribbean Grandeur Of The Seas cruise accessible?
Grandeur of the Seas has taken every precaution to ensure that the ship is as accessible as possible. There are elevators conveniently located throughout the ship, plus there are wheelchairs available to hire and the staff take extra care to accommodate those with accessible needs when it comes to boarding and disembarking the ship, including on the days when the ship is at a port.
Is a cruise suitable for solo travellers? – Grandeur Of The Seas cruise review
As I travelled with Matt on the cruise, I can’t personally comment on how good it is for solo travellers but if the number of people we met and hung out with every single day is anything to go by, I’d feel pretty confident in saying that a cruise would be great for solo travellers.
Grandeur of the Seas even hosted regular solo traveller meetups throughout the cruise and as it’s a relatively small ship, you’ll bump into the same people many times so it’s very easy to make friends and arrange to meet up throughout the cruise.
Does Grandeur of the Seas have a slide?
Unfortunately, unlike some of the much bigger cruise ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet, the Grandeur of the Seas ship doesn’t have a water slide on board.
It does, however, have a sizeable swimming pool, complete with multiple whirlpools on deck 9, plus the Solarium also has its own pool and whirlpools too.
How old is the Grandeur of the Seas ship?
Built in 1996, Grandeur of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s oldest cruise ships, but thanks to its numerous refurbishments over the years, you would have thought that it was only a few years old!

Fantastic review, we are going on Lady G in April. Thanks x
So excited to hear that she is a great ship. We have a booking in August and was very nervous about all the negative thing being said about her. Thanks for putting out an outstanding review!!
