If you’ve read almost any packing-related post on my blog over the last year or so, you’ll know that I have an almost-weird obsession with my Vango Velan women’s walking boots.
As someone who used to be obsessed with Louboutins (and I somewhat not-so-secretly am), I truly never thought that I’d be here on the internet writing my second post about walking boots.
However, that’s where we find ourselves and in today’s post, I’m sharing the details of my new love affair with the Holcombe IEP Mid walking boots from Regatta.
The team at Regatta sent over their Holcombe IEP Mid walking boots for me to provide my honest review and I’ll be perfectly honest – I did kind of feel like I was cheating on my beloved Velans at first, but once I took the Regatta Holcombe walking boots out for a spin, it felt like love at first wear.
Here are all my thoughts on the best Regatta women’s walking boots – the Holcombe IEP Mid hiking boots!
Holcombe IEP Mid walking boots – features

- Vegan-friendly
- Weather-resistant
- EVA comfort footbed
- Rubber outsole with self-cleaning and angled lugs for propulsion
- Hydropel water-resistant technology
- Isotex waterproof footwear
- Rubberised toe and heel bumpers
- Deep padded neoprene collar and mesh tongue
One of the things that first piqued my interest in these walking boots is that they claimed to be “self-cleaning” and I instantly thought that this couldn’t be true. However, after putting them to the test while walking the dogs over mega muddy fields, I was immensely surprised to find that there was almost no mud in sight once I had my feet back on solid ground!
See the pictures below for evidence!

Another thing that I love about these hiking boots is that they’re relatively stylish compared to many other styles of walking boots. I love the black and blue detailing and I think that they actually look pretty smart, rather than huge and clunky like many other boots seem to be.
In terms of comfort, I’ve certainly put these boots to the test over the last month since I received them, having walked tens of thousands of steps in them, across numerous terrains and I’m delighted to say that they haven’t felt uncomfortable once. The mid-ankle height of the walking boots provides great protection for my ankles and the rubber soles give my feet an almost spring in my step.
The main downside that I have to report about the Holcombe IEP Mid Regatta walking boots is that they tend to make my feet pretty sweaty when I’ve been walking for a couple of hours. However, I’ve found that almost every pair of shoes I’ve ever had have this downside too, so perhaps I just get particularly sweaty feet when walking for hours at a time?! This “downside” really hasn’t bothered me too much at all and I’d happily wear them in all climates and terrains.
The only type of weather that I haven’t worn these boots in yet is snow or ice, so I can’t actually vouch for how winter-proof they are, but if their resistance to rain and mud is anything to go by, I’m sure they’ll hold up just fine in colder climates.
Despite feeling pretty solid and sturdy when they’re on my feet, they’re actually pretty lightweight, weighing just 420 grams. This is a huge advantage for me as when I’m travelling with just my Osprey backpack, I need to ensure that it weighs as little as possible, so I have every confidence that these will be fine when packed in my backpack.
Pros – Regatta women’s walking boots

- Good ankle protection
- Self-cleaning – I honestly thought this was a joke!
- Attractive shoes – you can’t always say this about hiking boots!
- Relatively waterproof
Cons

- A little bit hard to put on at first – just because they’re so sturdy
- They make my feet pretty sweaty after a few hours of wearing
Price – Holcombe IEP Mid walking boots

The Regatta Holcombe IEP Mid walking boots are usually £80 RRP, but Amazon often has a sale on which saves you a lot of money!
If you’re in the market for a new pair of women’s walking boots, then I really couldn’t recommend these Regatta ones enough. They’re remarkably comfortable to wear, they’re weather-resistant and I couldn’t believe how well they held up when it came to walking through muddy fields!
