Welcome to the I’m Just A Girl travel blog!
Inspiring people to travel and live the life they want to lead.

I’m Chloe and I’m a 27-year-old nomadic traveller, blogger and freelance writer who loves visiting new countries, cities and continents! Fuelled by a love for travel, an adoration of garlic bread, and an overwhelming obsession with New York and New Zealand, I created this blog to share my travel experiences and to hopefully inspire you guys along the way too!
The original concept of this blog began in 2014 when I was just 16 years old, but I turned it into the platform that it is today in late 2018 when I decided it was time to focus on travel content before our huge trip around the world.
With my background in digital marketing, SEO and copywriting, along with my freelance writing business, I am able to work remotely from anywhere in the world, as long as I have my laptop and a decent internet connection! My fiancé and I have been travelling pretty much full-time since April 2019, with stints of living back in the UK, as well as months at a time in New York, Australia, Croatia, Cyprus, Vietnam, Malaysia, and more.
I’m Just A Girl is an award-nominated UK travel blog that focuses on affordable luxury travel in the form of long-form travel guides, accommodation recommendations and restaurant reviews.
I also specialise in road trip content, particularly in the UK, New Zealand, Australia and the USA. Between April 2019 and March 2020, my fiancé Matt (who’s featured heavily throughout my blog and social media and who’s an integral part of the I’m Just A Girl brand), and I travelled around New Zealand, Australia and most of Southeast Asia.
We’d planned to continue travelling indefinitely and with our nomadic lifestyles of being able to work online, we had no plans of returning back to the UK. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 outbreak had other plans for us so, in March 2020, we returned home for around 18 months. During that time, we split our time between York and the Lake District while travelling around the UK in our self-converted DIY campervan.
In December 2021, we decided to pick up our international travels again and booked a one-way ticket to New York City where we spent one month over Christmas and New Year living in the East Village before travelling around America on an epic 3-month USA road trip.
We then spent a month living in Playa del Carmen in Mexico before embarking on our first-ever Caribbean cruise where we visited six different countries across two continents! To conclude our North American trip, we had a brief stint in Chicago and Toronto , Canada before flying home to spend the summer with our families.
In the summer of 2022, I was also commissioned with the task of writing my first-ever book about New York City with a huge American publisher which was released in November 2023!
In October 2022, we moved to Split in Croatia for one month where we worked, met tonnes of new people and immersed ourselves in the beautiful seaside city. We then travelled to Paphos, Cyprus for a month in December before heading back to the UK for a couple of weeks over Christmas and New Year.
At the start of 2023, we packed our trusty backpacks once again and headed on an epic 2-month European interrail trip as part of a collaboration with Interrail EU.
From June 2023 to February 2024 we travelled to numerous places in Asia and Australia again, starting in Japan for 6 weeks, then South Korea for 3 weeks, Taipei for one week before heading to Vietnam for 2.5 months on their new 90-day visa!
After Vietnam, we spent a month back in one of our favourite cities in the world, Kuala Lumpur, before heading back to Singapore for a week and then over to Sydney, Australia for 5 weeks over Christmas and New Year! We then headed to the West Coast and embarked on a 10-day road trip from Perth all around the South West Coast which was absolutely amazing, before flying back to the UK at the beginning of February 2024.
We then spent 18 months living in a stunning apartment in the city centre of our hometown of York, during which time I visited Madeira and Mallorca with Jet2, and we also spent ten days in NYC working with some incredible hotels and companies such as Archer Hotel, LUMA Hotel Times Square, Staypineapple Hotel, Go City, Perfect Picnic, Secret Food Tours, and over a dozen rooftop bars!
In January 2025, we headed back to New York for a long weekend break, during which time my then-boyfriend Matt proposed on Bow Bridge in Central Park; it was truly the best day of my entire life!
As of July 2025, we’re back to travelling full-time around Asia and America, before we head to New Zealand in February 2026 to get married!
Keep up with our latest travels and adventures closer to home on my Instagram.
I also run a successful New York Facebook Group which has over 300,000 members (which is growing at an incredible rate!) where I share plenty of New York travel tips, advice and inspiration! My self-published Ultimate New York City Travel Guide ebook is also where you can find tonnes of NYC tips and advice, and my first ever book, Date Night: New York City, was officially published in November by Harper Collins Focus and Cider Mill Press!
I adore luxurious holidays as well as budget city breaks and I have a plethora of expertise in both! From luxury island resorts in Vietnam to a cheap weekend away in Budapest, I can help you to find your dream holiday destination and make your travel dreams a reality! Here you’ll find extensive travel guides, restaurant reviews and stylish hotel recommendations as well as many budget travel tips and tricks!
My blog, I’m Just A Girl, is all about my travels around the world; I’ve visited 50 countries so far including New Zealand, Singapore, Italy, Norway, Iceland, Australia, Vietnam, Netherlands, Czech Republic, America, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Croatia, Poland, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium, plus many more. Counting countries isn’t something that I’m a particularly big fan of, but I often get asked where I’ve been so I thought I’d share that little snippet of trivia!
I love mountains, cities and gastronomic travel and I’m obsessed with New York City, New Zealand and a good (but cheap!) bottle (or two!) of wine!
I’ve been lucky to work with brands such as Babbel, Jet2, The TEFL Org, Aldi, Marks and Spencer, Visit Northumberland, The Great British Food Festival, Cosy Club, Hotels.com, Tinggly, Original Travel, Osprey, ghd and many more. I also write for publications such as Culture Trip, Bookaway, Rough Maps, Trip101, Time Out, Harper’s Bazaar and more, and my work has been featured in BBC Business and the Yorkshire Press.
My aim with this travel blog is to inspire and encourage as many people as possible to travel the world, discover its unique and wonderful things and try all the best dishes from around the world. I definitely caught the travel bug at a young age and I hope I can inspire you to travel the world with me!
