I think there’s often the misconception that Marks and Spencer is a place for older generations to shop, but over the last couple of weeks, I’ve come to realise that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, some of my most-worn clothes this autumn and winter have come from M&S, as well as some of their best dishes.
Today’s post is all about Marks and Spencer’s wonderful range of festive food, some of their best #MyMarksFave picks as well as a jam-packed hamper that they kindly sent to us!
Be sure to let me know in the comments what your #MyMarksFave is this year!
When we went into our local M&S store in York city centre, I couldn’t believe the size of the hamper that we were greeted with, or the vast amount of delicious goodies that were packed inside!
It was absolutely pouring with rain while we tried to navigate our way home with the substantial gift basket but oh my goodness was it worth it when we arrived home and had the chance to have a proper look at everything inside.
Contents of festive food from M&S #MyMarksFave
- Festive cheese bites
- Prosecco and orange topped Christmas pudding
- Champagne truffles
- Pigs in blankets
- Shortbread tin
- Mince pie martini
- Belgian truffles
- Mince pies
I honestly couldn’t believe just how many amazing things were included inside; all of which were absolutely perfect for a festive Christmas party!
Unfortunately, we’re not hosting a party at our place this year as our apartment is remarkably tiny, so we thought it was only right to test some of the goodies out for ourselves…
Pigs in blankets
Pigs in blankets are without a doubt (in my opinion) the best part of a Christmas Dinner so when I discovered a pack of 16 inside our festive food hamper, I was absolutely delighted.
In fact, these were the first things that we ate from the gift basket; we paired them with mashed potato and lashings of gravy and OMFG, they were heavenly.
Pigs in blankets can often be a little disappointing if you’ve bought them from the shop as they tend to become a bit ‘broken’; the bacon often falling off and the sausages being a bit squashed.
The ones from Marks and Spencer however, were utter perfection, they were juicy and flavoursome and had the perfect amount of crisp to the bacon. I really couldn’t recommend these enough and they were definitely #MyMarksFave from the offerings that we received!
While I don’t have that much of a sweet tooth (I much prefer savoury delicacies), I am a huge fan of chocolate truffles so when I discovered that M&S had kindly gifted us two different boxes, I was so excited!
The Belgian chocolate truffles were an absolute delight; incredibly rich and chocolatey and perfect for sharing at this time of year while you’re snuggled up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a Christmas film!
The champagne truffles aren’t usually something that I’d go for but they were still delicious and would make the perfect gift for someone special this Christmas.
Another firm favourite of mine and Matt’s from the festive food hamper from M&S was the ever-popular all butter Scottish shortbread Stag Tin.
My grandma has been purchasing the variations of shortbread from Marks and Spencer for so many years now, so I’ve always adored them and it was so nice to receive them as part of our hamper.
Matt was never too keen on shortbread, but he said these ones were excellent and would definitely buy them again! I already adored shortbread so I knew I was going to love these, and they certainly didn’t disappoint!
As well as an incredible selection of Christmas party goodies, Marks and Spencer also provided us with a hearty offering of booze! From prosecco (my favourite) to port and mince pie martini, we were certainly spoiled for choice with the range of booze from M&S!
Neither of us are actually huge fans of port or mince pie flavoured martinis, so we decided to give these bottles to our grandparents as part of their Christmas gifts as we knew they’d appreciate them and enjoy them!
I’ve never really been one to be too bothered about cheese, but in recent months I’ve come to learn it just a little bit more. However, Matt’s mum is also a huge fan of cheese so I think we might save this platter to take round to her house to enjoy with some crackers and a glass of wine just before Christmas!
I was so impressed with the range of different cheeses inside the box, and it’d be the perfect thing to bring to a festive party as it’s already beautifully presented in its packaging.
I couldn’t be more grateful to M&S for providing us with this incredible festive food hamper; there were so many incredible treats that are perfect for this time of year and we both thoroughly enjoyed tucking into the hamper’s contents!
