When Black Friday and Cyber Monday roll around every single year, I never really pay much attention to them; I just sort of ignore the huge screaming deals that are in my face and wait for everything to blow over.
But this year I’ve really made a conscious effort to make myself aware of some of the best Black Friday travel deals available. As a self-confessed travel addict and someone who can’t seem to go a week without booking another trip, it only felt right that I looked into how to get the best Black Friday travel deals.
Being the obsessive travel advocate that I am, I couldn’t not share my best tips, so this post includes a fully comprehensive guide on how to get the best Black Friday travel deals!
Check your inbox
Chances are, you’ll probably receive a million and one emails every single day and I bet you don’t even give most of them a second glance. This Black Friday, instead of disregarding those intrusive emails that scream BEST DEALS ON FLIGHTS, actually pay attention to them and (shock horror) read them instead of just moving them straight to the trash folder.
I’m signed up to so many email newsletters, price alerts and generic emails from my favourite travel brands and a lot of the time I don’t really have the time to read them. But this week I’ve actually made a conscious effort to open them and Matt and I accidentally bought return flights to Oslo for next February…
My point is, there’s probably something extremely juicy lingering in your inbox so definitely make sure to pay attention to it for the next week or so. You never know what kind of amazing travel deals might land in there!
Do your research beforehand
While there’s only two days until Black Friday, many brands often extend their sales over the week all the way into Cyber Monday, therefore you’ve still got plenty of time to get your research done.
Research all the places that you want to go to, make a list of the best travel brands who offer great deals on Black Friday and keep an eye out on brands that drop unexpected last minute deals.
Create email alerts
While we’ve already touched on the point of making sure you check your inbox, you may also want to create new email alerts for your favourite travel brands so you can be aware when their best Black Friday travel deals hit.
Keep your searches streamlined
When the sales hit, it can be remarkably easy to become caught up in all the excitement at the prospect of being able to book holidays at incredibly affordable prices but you should try and keep your searches as streamlined as possible.
Try and have a clear idea in your head of the places that you want to visit the most and then you can tailor your searches to those places that you actually want to go to, instead of just booking a random flight somewhere that you don’t particular want to visit, just because it was cheap.
Download travel apps for quicker booking
It’s no secret that if a popular travel brand drops an absolute banger of a deal on flights and accommodation that it’s going to be snapped up in two seconds flat.
Every single year millions of people flock to their favourite brands’ websites in order to obtain the best Black Friday travel deals and oftentimes those websites can crash.
While you’re not absolutely guaranteed to get the deal you want, you’ll probably have a much better chance by downloading all the relevant travel apps so that you can easily book on the app rather than waiting in what promises to be a lengthy queue on their website.
Some of my favourite travel apps include:
Follow your favourite brands on social media
While most brands will announce their travel deals on their websites, some may actually offer exclusive discounts on their social media channels.
Once you’ve got your list of your favourite brands and a rough idea of where you might want to go, get following the brands on everything from Twitter to Facebook to Instagram.
Some brands may have their own thread of travel deals that they share exclusively on Twitter for example, so you definitely don’t want to miss out!
Contradictory to the point above about not just booking a holiday for the sake of it, if you’re desperate to find a cheap deal and aren’t too bothered about where you go then you should definitely be flexible when it comes to getting the best Black Friday travel deals.
It’s probably not the best idea to go into Black Friday totally blind and unaware of the best deals available but you may actually find a travel bargain package to a place that you’ve never even considered visiting. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to find the perfect deal either; try and be slightly flexible with your searches and the brands you book with and you may find yourself grabbing a totally unexpected deal!
