I’ve always been a huge planner, organiser and dreamer; I’ve always been one to write down my goals and ambitions and work hard to achieve them.
I lost my way for a little while when I finished my A Levels and was unsure of where life would take me, but now I’m feeling more confident in myself and my abilities than ever before.
There’s always been a number of goals I want to achieve during my life, so in today’s post I thought I would share my 4 ultimate lifelong dreams with you guys!
Travel the world
I’m sure it’s no surprise to anyone reading this that one of my ultimate lifelong dreams is to travel the world. This dream is actually coming into fruition next May (hopefully!) when Matt and I head off for our trip around the world.
Travelling the world is something that I’ve wanted to do from an extremely young age and I’m so glad that I’ve been blessed with the ‘wanderlust bug’. I owe an awful lot of my obsession with travelling to my mum and dad who have always told me that the world is such a big place and that I should go out and explore it.
Our trip around the world is currently on an indefinite timescale; in other words, we have no plans to come back. Of course, we’ll come back to the UK to visit family and friends and will probably return for at least a couple of weeks at a time but overall, we’re not planning on returning any time soon.
I’m so lucky to be in a relationship with someone who feels exactly the same way I do about exploring the world. It’s such an incredible position to be in and I can’t wait to make this lifelong dream come true next year.
Live in New York for at least 6 months
To live in New York for at least six months has been on my list of ultimate lifelong dreams for so many years now. I haven’t been shy about my obsession with New York and to live there, even just for a short period of time, is something that I’ve always wanted (and almost needed) to do.
Matt doesn’t quite share the exact same obsession with the Big Apple that I have, but he would also love to live there for a little while one day so I’m incredibly lucky (again) in that respect as it means I can one day live in New York with my very best friend.
Ideally, we’d have an apartment in Manhattan that overlooks Central Park but I think that may have to be added to a list of ‘slightly unrealistic ultimate lifelong dreams’.
Of course, I will endeavour to work incredibly hard to make my dreams a reality and to have an apartment that overlooks Central Park would be quite the dream, I just don’t want to commit to it just yet. We’ll see in a couple of years, maybe once I’ve made my millions… 😉
Write a book
I think this goal has probably been on my ultimate lifelong dreams for the longest amount of time. I’ve been a ‘writer’ pretty much ever since I first learned to spell my own name; it’s a passion that’s only become increasingly more adored by me over the years and so writing a book has always, and will always be at the top of my list.
I always thought that I’d write a chick-lit novel for my first ever book, and while I would still absolutely love to do that, I think I maybe want to explore the travel book sector first.
Whether it’s a travel book based on my own experiences (sort of like a memoir) or it’s a novel based on travelling, I’m not entirely sure yet. All I know is that one day I have to have my writing published as a book.
Bonus lifelong dream: Similarly to the idea of having a Central Park-facing apartment, I would also truly love for a book that I’d written to be made into a movie. When I was younger, I was always sure that I could achieve the same level of fame as J.K. Rowling did with the Harry Potter franchise. Now that I’m older – and slightly wiser – I realise that it’s pretty much impossible for anyone to achieve what J.K. Rowling did. However, that’s not to say that I won’t give it a bloody good try!
Leave an impact on the world
This lifelong dream sounds incredibly cliche and I’m sure there are millions of people in the world who would love to leave their mark on this world when they’ve gone but it’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a number of years now.
I often question my role in the world and I always wonder what I can do to ensure people remember me and that I leave a lasting, good impression on the world when I’m gone.
Whether it’s a travel-related legacy in which I inspire people to travel the world, or it’s through the words of my books that leave an impact on the world, I want to make sure that I leave something good and meaningful behind.
