If you saw my previous post, you’ll know that I spent last week with my family in the stunning commune of Morzine, France.
We stayed at the gorgeous Chalet-Hotel Starlight and were hosted by the most lovely lady called Clarissa and her husband, Elderon and the hotel manager, Archie. I can wholeheartedly say that I’ve never experienced such an incredible level of hospitality and I truly believe you need to visit the hotel purely for the gracious hospitality that everyone offers.
Here’s what we got up to during our summer stay at Chalet-Hotel Starlight.
My parents had actually visited this resort a couple of times before as they host an annual skiing retreat as part of their business; with the intention of the retreat being held at Chalet-Hotel Starlight next year.
When we arrived at the resort on Monday evening, we were warmly welcomed by Clarissa, the owner of Chalet-Hotel Starlight. Clarissa is genuinely one of the most gracious and accommodating hosts I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting; not only that, but she is also an incredibly lovely woman who is more than happy to do anything to ensure her guests are as comfortable and happy as possible.
After a brief tour of the hotel, we were shown outside to a beautiful garden area accompanied by a large swimming pool, an extremely inviting hot tub, plenty of lawn space, a huge outdoor pizza oven plus a BBQ that smelled absolutely delicious.
There were a number of other families staying in the hotel at the same time as us but it never felt too overcrowded or loud. Chalet-Hotel Starlight sleeps up to 44 guests across 17 different bedrooms and offers a selection of twin, triple and quadruple rooms; perfect for large families or parties who all want to stay in the same place.
All bedrooms come equipped with excellent features including tasteful en suites, spacious wardrobes and most rooms have stunning views of the surrounding valley vicinity.
After indulging in scrumptious burgers, sausages and salad, we ordered drinks from the bar and settled outside for an evening of chatting, drinking and enjoying the hot tub. Clarissa ensured that we had everything we needed and even made some popcorn for my younger siblings, as well as supplying us with an abundance of yummy snacks. If our first night staying at the Chalet-Hotel Starlight was anything to go by, then we were sure to have a truly wonderful stay.
Breakfast was served in the dining area of the resort and offered a selection of cured meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, tea and coffee plus eggs made to order. While I do enjoy a full English breakfast as a decadent treat whenever I’m on holiday, it was actually quite a refreshing change to enjoy a lighter breakfast.
Rooms at Chalet-Hotel Starlight are offered as half-board or B&B, which gives you ample opportunity to discover the many restaurants, bars and eateries located just a stone’s throw away in the quaint town of Morzine.
I shared a twin room with my little sister on the first floor that came equipped with a substantial shower, two incredibly comfortable and cosy twin beds and a spacious balcony offering stunning views of the bountiful hills. All the rooms at Chalet-Hotel Starlight are remarkably cosy and while they are more designed for the winter months when Morzine transforms into a winter wonderland, Clarissa has done an amazing job at ensuring the accommodation is fit for the summer months too. I’d definitely love to come back during the winter and experience the resort in its true cosy state; I think it would make an absolutely idyllic winter getaway!
The outdoor space at the hotel is just lovely; the swimming pool area is surrounded by a secure fence that prevents little ones accidentally entering without supervision, there’s an astro turf type surface around the edge of the pool with a number of sun loungers and chairs for guests to relax on and then there’s the actual pool itself. I didn’t actually go in the pool during my stay here as I just wasn’t feeling it but my younger siblings spent hours frolicking in the refreshing water.
At the opposite end of the garden area is a hot tub that both children and adults are welcome to use. It’s a truly magical experience relaxing in the warm water while gazing out at the impressive views and sprawling mountains. There’s also a decking area with a little shelter and comfy seating arrangements where guests can enjoy indulging in a delicious alcohol drink while keeping an eye on the kids. It’s the perfect area to unwind in, regardless of season, weather or time of day.
Inside the hotel, tucked neatly away in a corner of the dining area is a quintessentially cosy cabin-like bar area, serving a plethora of beverages for all guests. We spent every night nestled in this adorable little corner after a busy day out exploring and it was such a lovely way to end our day. Clarissa often chatted with us and told us stories of her time running the Chalet-Hotel Starlight. The relationship that the staff here had with their guests was unlike anything I’d ever seen before and I’d happily enjoy that kind of relationship with everyone I have the pleasure of meeting during my travels!
Chalet-Hotel Starlight offers guests so many incredible features during their stay, including a cinema room, bar area, hot tub, secure bike shed, swimming pool, kids playroom and free wifi.
We all had such a wonderful stay here and I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to head back to Chalet-Hotel Starlight; I’d definitely like to head back in the winter during ski season as I know just how amazing it is thanks to my parents’ stories of their times there!
Thank you so, so much to Clarissa, Elderon and Archie for making our stay in Morzine so lovely and for being the most accommodating hosts I’ve ever known!
