I’m a firm believer in travelling and seeing more of the world; there’s so many incredible benefits of travel and it allows you to see so much more of this incredible world.
While you don’t necessarily need a reason to travel often, I do think that people may shy away from it a little, especially if they’re not accustomed to exploring beyond the realms of their comfort zone.
One of the most important things to me, and the main purpose of this whole blog is to encourage more people to travel and explore the world. So, if you’re not sure if you should be travelling more, here’s 16 reasons why you should travel often.
It allows you to experience new cultures
No matter where you visit in the world, whether it be a quick weekend break in Paris or a trip around the whole world, you’re sure to experience some incredible cultures. This is one of my favourite things about travelling; getting to know a new place and seeing how people’s lives differ from our own, I think it’s truly amazing to experience the different cultures of the world.
You’ll meet some incredible people
I can’t wait for when Matt and I go travelling as we’re sure to meet some amazing people with such incredible stories to tell. I know many people who’ve met some of their best friends on holidays to Spain and now go on holiday with them every year. The world is so incredibly vast and there’s an abundance of interesting and mesmerising people to encounter.
You’ll be pushed out of your comfort zone
Travelling is something that you’ll find pushes you out of your comfort zone an awful lot. Whether you’re scared of flying, afraid of heights or unsure about being in a new city, travelling will show you all the wonderful things about the world and you’ll be so proud of yourself once you’ve conquered your fears.
You can relax and rejuvenate
Holidays can see you gallivanting on a week long adventure or simply just relaxing by the pool or beach with a cocktail in hand. If you opt for a more relaxing holiday then you’re sure to return from your trip feeling thoroughly replenished and rejuvenated.
You’ll have some awesome hands-on experiences
The world is such an enormous place that there’s so much to see and do in every corner of the world. From wine tasting in an Italian vineyard to mountain biking in the Alps to kayaking in the Amazon, travelling allows you to get fully hands-on with every activity available.
You’ll build a better relationship with yourself
It doesn’t matter whether you’re travelling by yourself or in a huge group of people; travelling allows you to build a much better relationship with yourself as you’ll experience things that you never have before. With regards to pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, you’ll become so proud of the things you’ve achieved, thus creating a much better relationship with yourself.
It’ll allow you to appreciate the little things
You know when you return home from your trip and you appreciate the smallest of things such as sleeping in your own bed or a delicious cup of hot tea? Well travelling certainly allows you to appreciate the little things much more, especially if you visit places where home comforts aren’t always widely available.
You’ll learn so much about yourself and the world
I’ve learnt so much about the world just from my travels so far and I absolutely cannot wait to learn even more when we go travelling. From learning about the various dishes that are popular in a particular country, to getting to know the religion of a certain place, it can be immensely rewarding to learn new things on every trip.
It allows you to make amazing memories for life
Some of my all-time favourite memories have been created while on various holidays. My trips to New York with both my mum and Matt hold some of the most precious memories of my life and my time in America with my family was some of the funniest and greatest times of my life. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to make these incredible memories and reflect back on them for years to come.
You’ll gain a different perspective of the world
Seeing a place first hand rather than simply reading about it online or seeing images of it on Instagram can totally change your perspective of the world; in both good and bad aspects.
You’ll get to try so many new dishes and cuisines
I’m sure you all know by now just how much I love trying out new foods, both at home and when I’m on holiday, and I think travelling is truly amazing for this reason alone. Sure, you can sample Chinese food at your local takeaway but it’ll never compare to the real experience of eating it in China surrounded by the fascinating locals.
You’ll grow as a person
Since I’ve been old enough to travel on my own and with Matt, I feel that I’ve grown so much as a person. Taking your first flight alone and having to navigate your way through a new city will show how much you’ve grown as person.
It will challenge you and test your strength of character
Travelling isn’t always plain sailing and sometimes things can go wrong; your suitcase might get lost at the airport or your phone may run out of battery while you’re trying to find your hotel, but what matters the most is how you recover from those situations. That will show your true strength of character.
You’ll have some truly incredible stories to tell
My time in New Zealand was full of wonderful adventures and I still recall some of my favourite stories from my time there now. I can’t wait to gain even more experience in travelling as I’ll have so much to tell everyone in my future.
You can teach people about the things you’ve learnt
My blog is definitely a place that I try and share as much of my experiences with you guys as possible; from my best packing tips, to my most recommended places to see in a certain city, I love sharing what I’ve learnt so far as it gives me so much joy knowing I can share these things with other people so that they can experience them too.
You’ll escape the routine of your everyday life
That’s not to say that you necessarily want to escape your everyday routine but travelling certain does allow you to do that should you wish. I really love my job and I’m so grateful for my home life but I have to admit that I love a change of scenery and breaking the routine when I’m on holiday. It’s a truly awesome feeling knowing you’re waking up somewhere beautiful while the rest of the world is sat at their desks working!
