I’ve been shopping at Monks Cross ever since I first moved to York almost 12 years ago. It’s the place that I always went with my grandma to do my Christmas shopping and it’s the place where I got my first ever ‘proper’ job at Starbucks. Monks Cross has been a huge part of my York life for many years now so I was so excited when they reached out to me to collaborate.
Last weekend, I headed up to my favourite shopping outlet in York for a day of retail therapy, an Instagram takeover on the Monks Cross Instagram account and to purchase some fab new items for our new home.
Monks Cross very kindly invited me to their shopping park with a challenge to spend £100 in their various stores including Primark, Boots and Debenhams. It was an extremely busy but productive day with my mum, who helped me to film everything and choose my favourite items. Here’s what I picked up on my shopping trip with Monks Cross.
I’m pretty sure you’re all sick of hearing it by now but a couple of weeks ago Matt and I moved into our own apartment. As it’s our first home together, we needed to pick a few more homely bits up so I knew there was no better place to go to than the substantial Primark store at Monks Cross.
The first item I picked up were these gorgeous Tiffany blue cushions for our sofa. They were only £4 each (a pack of two for £8) and as they’re my favourite colour and so stupidly comfy, I just knew I had to get them.
They’re ever so soft and squishy and they go really well with our sofa but they’d also look fab on our bed too so I’m so glad I picked these up!
For me, it’s always so important that my home smells nice and I’ve always been obsessed with home fragrances and candles ever since I was a young teenager. These reed diffusers from Primark are the perfect new home gift as they’re unbelievably affordable – with the small one being only £1 and the larger one costing £3 – and they also smell divine.
I’ve put the vanilla scented one in our bathroom to make that smell fresh all the time and the pink lemonade one (which is definitely my favourite) now lives on our kitchen windowsill so that our home always smells delicious.
I also picked up a pack of these 24 adorable iced lemonade tealights for only £1! They smell absolutely exquisite – so good that I almost want to eat them! I think tealights are a great addition to any room in your house as they’re not overly imposing but they give off a lovely scent and romantic vibe.
To house the iced lemonade tealights, I picked up this stunning marble dish that holds three tealights. It’s very blogger-esque but I absolutely love it and it’s currently residing on our dining table which I think gives off a very cute vibe.
Tealight holders are always a great addition to any home as they add a more elegant feel to a home as opposed to just a stand-alone tealight.
You all know by now just how obssesed I am with travelling so naturally this gorgeous little money box from Primark immediately caught my eye. I’m not sure if we’ll actually use it as a money box yet, or whether it’ll just have a lovely little home as a travel prop but either way, I’m totally in love with it. For only £4 as well, I really am impressed with the quality and design of this little box!
The next stop on my Monks Cross shopping trip was Debenhams which is home to a plethora of beauty, skincare, homeware and clothing items. It’s one of my favourite stores at Monks Cross, especially at Christmas time, as it always feels so elegant and glamorous.
My adoration for Tiffany & Co has been with me ever since I was so young so when I heard about the new Tiffany & Co perfume being released, I was beside myself with excitement. However, for £52 I couldn’t really justify spending that much money on a perfume for no particular reason but when I saw it in the Debenhams store at Monks Cross I just knew I had to have it.
If you haven’t had the chance to smell it yet then I seriously urge you to go and take a whiff because it honestly smells like something the gods have created. It’s housed in the world-famous Tiffany coloured blue box and the bottle itself resembles a beautiful Tiffany diamond. I’m terrible at describing scents but this perfume smells fresh, feminine and absolutely divine. It’s so elegant and sophisticated and the lasting power of this perfume is unlike anything else I’ve ever tried!
My next and final stop at Monks Cross was my favourite shop, Boots.
I’ve loved Boots ever since I can remember as it’s always been my mum’s favourite place to buy beauty and skincare items from so I guess I’ve just inherited her love for it. At the time of my shopping trip I was in desperate need of a new cleanser as the one I was currently using just wasn’t working for me.
That’s where the beauty of the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish came into play. I’ve been a huge fan of this cleanser for almost three years now and I can’t see my love for it petering anytime soon. It’s an absolutely wonderful cleanser that leaves my face feeling so clean, soft and refreshed and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a more luxe cleanser.
The Liz Earle offering that I picked up was the 100ml one which retails for £16.50 in Boots but I seriously think it’s worth the money. This is now my fourth bottle of the stuff and I’ll continue to purchase it until I can find something better (which I really don’t see happening anytime soon).
While in Boots, I also picked up a few ~feminine~ items but I didn’t really think they warranted being photographed!
I had such an amazing time shopping at Monks Cross and I really can’t thank them enough for treating me to all these wonderful goodies!
