As a present for my 20th birthday, my parents booked a night away for Matt and I at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester. We headed for our visit last Saturday and I couldn’t be more thrilled with our stay there.
It’s an absolutely stunning hotel with so many gorgeous amenities and I really couldn’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a more luxurious night away in Manchester.
Here’s 6 reasons why you need to stay at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester.
We were incredibly lucky that our hotel room was a superior king room with a riverside view! It was a gorgeous, sunny day in Manchester so the views looked particularly wonderful as the sunshine glistened on the river.
The windows in our room were absolutely enormous so we took full advantage of the spectacular views directly outside our window. There were people doing yoga, numerous people indulging in a good book and plenty of people casually strolling along the beautiful water.
However, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that despite being surrounded by a number of people outside, everything was remarkably quiet. I honestly think the views from our room alone were enough to convince me to go back there but I’m also thrilled to say there are many other reasons why you need to stay at this stunning hotel!
You guys all know by now just how much I love trying out new foods and sampling different menus wherever I go so it’s safe to say I was pretty excited to see what was on the menu at The Lowry.
We arrived at the hotel just after 3pm so instead of diving straight into the food menu, we decided to order two glasses of prosecco to celebrate. We actually had quite a lot to celebrate giving that we were due to move into our new house in just two days at the time of our stay so we really put the bubbles to good use!
For dinner we tried out the River Bar menu which had a fantastic selection of dishes, ranging from sandwiches to steak to pasta!
I opted for the steak sandwich with caramelised onions, mustard and a side of fries. The steak sandwich was absolutely delicious; it was cooked to perfection and the onions complimented the steak wonderfully. The only slight qualm I had regarding my meal was the fact that the mustard was pretty intense in taste and I would have preferred ever so slightly less mustard on my sandwich. Aside from that, I really can’t complain. The meal was delicious and remarkably filling!
With Matt trying out a vegetarian lifestyle at the moment, he was delighted to discover a number of options available to him. He went for the vegetable garganelli pasta and considering that he practically inhaled it in approximately two minutes; it’s safe to say that he loved it!
We decided not to go for dessert as we planned to have a night out in Manchester and didn’t want to be too full before a night of drinking!
The breakfast options the next morning totally blew us away; there was so much to choose from! A range of continental dishes were available, including fresh pastries, breads and fruits. There was also a hot breakfast buffet station which provided guests with everything they could ever wish for in a full English breakfast! We certainly left the hotel feeling incredibly full that morning but it was so worth it; the breakfast selection was definitely a stand out factor for me.
One of the most important things to me when I’m staying somewhere new is that the staff are easily approachable and friendly. At The Lowry, it appeared that my wishes were granted as the staff really couldn’t have been more accommodating!
From check-in to ordering room service, all the way to the following day when we were leaving, we were constantly greeted by friendly smiles and staff who were more than happy to cater to our every need.
Nothing was ever too much and whatever question you may have, they’ll be more than happy to assist you. It really does make all the difference to me when I’m staying in a lovely hotel if the staff are as wonderful as the hotel itself.
Sleep is without a doubt one of my favourite ‘hobbies’ so a good bed that you can sink into after a night out is an absolute must for me when I’m staying in a hotel. Thankfully, The Lowry came through with this request and went above and beyond my expectations.
The bed was insanely huge; I don’t think I could actually reach all the way across even if I starfished! The mattress was ridiculously comfortable, the pillows were light and fluffy and the crisp white sheets were absolutely heaven to snuggle up in.
I could have honestly slept in this bed all day and night if I was able to; it really was something else!
The Lowry Hotel really couldn’t be in a better location for me. It’s just a ten minute walk from Manchester Victoria, a ten minute walk from the Arndale Centre and it’s surrounded by plenty of other shops, bars and restaurants.
Despite the incredibly central location, I was so happy to discover that the hotel is actually remarkably quiet inside; we stayed on a Saturday night on the day of the Royal Wedding and we couldn’t hear a sound from our bedroom window!
The way a hotel looks is pretty important to me, especially if I’ve paid good money to stay there and I can safely say that The Lowry Hotel really does shine when it comes to aesthetics.
From the grand entrance, to the minimalist but sophisticated lobby, to the ornate decor in the rooms themselves, The Lowry really does have it all. I truly loved the little features dotted around the hotel that made it feel ever so grand and luxurious. Our room came equipped with a lush chaise longue, plenty of magazines as well as adorable finishing touches to make our stay even more lovely.
