For many years, I never really considered many places in Europe as desirable destinations; I always thought I wanted to visit places like America, Bali and Australia, and while I obviously still do want to visit these places, there’s also a number of places in Europe that’ve made their way to the top of my travel wishlist.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit numerous beautiful countries in Europe but there’s still so much I’m yet to see and do, and one of these things is the magnificent landmarks located throughout Europe.
I’ve compiled a list of the European landmarks I’m most looking forward to seeing; whether that’s next year on our travels or just on holiday at some point in the future.
Sagrada Familia – Barcelona
This beautiful basilica in Barcelona has been very high up on my European landmarks travel wishlist for quite some time now. I see it all over Instagram all the time and it looks absolutely breathtaking. I’m really hoping Matt and I can squeeze in a minibreak to Barcelona later this year so hopefully I’ll get to see it then!
The Leaning Tower of Pisa
Such a tourist attraction, but for good reason I think; the Leaning Tower of Pisa is iconic for a reason. I mean, have you ever seen a building as strange as this in your life?! I’d deffo be one of those geeky people who tries and ‘leans’ against the tower!
Duomo – Florence
The Duomo in Florence looks absolutely stunning and I’m literally the biggest fan of beautiful churches and cathedrals so this is definitely I’d love to see on my trip around Europe.
Mont Saint-Michel Abbey – France
This sexy piece of architecture always seems to crop up on my Pinterest feed and it’s not hard to see why. It reminds me of something straight out of a fairytale and I bet it’s even more impressive in person.
Acropolis – Athens, Greece
I’ve always been mega intrigued about Greek history ever since I learnt about it at school so the Acropolis in Athens is definitely something I’d like to see at some point. I bet the entire area is just full of so much history and culture and I would love to see it for myself.
Brandenburg Gate – Berlin, Germany
I have quite a lot of family who live in Germany and one of mine and Matt’s very good friends lives there but I’ve never actually been before! However, one place that I really want to visit in Germany is the Brandenburg Gate as it looks so impressive.
Stonehenge – England
Can you believe that I’ve never seen Stonehenge before either?! Matt has actually visited it before and he says he wasn’t overly impressed with it but I’d still really like to see it for myself anyway.
The Cube Houses – Rotterdam, The Netherlands
The Cube Houses in Rotterdam look so damn cool and ever so Instagrammable. They look absolutely fascinating to me and Rotterdam is certainly a place I’d love to visit so I’m sure I’d have no problem ticking this one off my list!
Royal Pavilion – Brighton, England
Another place that I’ve never visited in the UK is Brighton but I’m absolutely desperate to go! I really hope we can spend a weekend down there this summer and one of the places that I want to see the most is the Royal Pavilion. I think it will look particularly lovely in the summer so I just need to persuade Matt that we need to take a weekend break there this summer!
Milan’s Duomo – Milan, Italy
The Milan Cathedral really is a breathtaking piece of architecture and I’m sure I could spend hours being mesmerised by it. Milan is also another European city that I really want to visit and the Duomo in Milan is very high up on my list of things to see!
Other European landmarks that I’ve already visited and would totally recommend include; the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, the Arc de Triomphe, Big Ben & Buckingham Palace, the Trevi Fountain & the Hungarian Parliament building.
