Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching and even though I used to be incredibly bitter about the lovey-dovey holiday, the last few years have had me feeling pretty excited about it since being with Matt.
However, I am such an advocate for celebrating Valentine’s Day regardless of your relationship status as for many years I used to just celebrate it with friends and it was bloody awesome.
If you do find yourself hating the holiday that St. Valentine intended for those in love, then there are plenty of ways to spend the day enjoying yourself, with or without a partner. I’ve put together a list of ways that you can treat yourself this V D.
Perfume is an excellent way to treat yourself this Valentine’s Day as I truly believe that it’s something that can make you feel extra special all year round. Clive Christian have an incredible range of Gift Sets for her*, that are all perfect for treating yourself this Valentine’s Day!
I think that perfume is an incredibly personal thing so even though it’s lovely to receive perfume from someone else, I do believe that you should treat yourself to a bottle every now and then, and I really don’t think there’s a better excuse than Valentine’s Day.
One of my favourite ways to indulge and spend some quality time with me, myself and I is to have a good old pamper evening. The Feather and Down* products are absolutely perfect for indulging in some self-care as they’re so incredibly relaxing and invigorating. The lovely people at Feather and Down were generous enough to send me a number of their products to try, including the Calming Candle and the Soothing Body Oil.
I’ve tried a number of things from Feather and Down before and I certainly wasn’t disappointed with the products I received this time around. The Calming Candle* has the iconic F&D scent of lavender and chamomile and it smells absolutely beautiful, without being too overpowering. I love burning this when I’m in the bath as it helps to thoroughly relax me and it’s ever so soothing.
The Soothing Body Oil* is an incredibly luxurious product and it makes me feel amazing. I use it after enjoying a long, hot bath and I let it soak into my skin. It leaves my whole body feeling so smooth and so soothed and its lovely, calming scent helps me drift easily to sleep.
A pamper evening wouldn’t be complete without a relaxing bath, a whole lot of Friends and some fresh new pyjamas accompanied by clean, new bedding. Sundays are the day that I tend to spend a lot of time pampering, preening and cleaning but Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday this year so that’s a perfect excuse to treat yourself midweek!
Also, Valentine’s Day is also the day after Pancake Day this year so there’s really no excuse not to spoil yourself and continue eating pancakes for at least a good few days after the actual occasion…
One of my favourite ways to enjoy Valentine’s Day (before Matt came along) was to get all the girls round and enjoy an evening of gossiping, drinking and watching absolute crap on the TV. A girls’ night in is the most perfect way to spend V D if you’re not in a relationship; get the girls round, get the drinks flowing and settle down for the evening in front of a cheesy chick flick.
Other ways you can treat yourself include:
- A solo cinema date
- Try out a new restaurant
- Go for afternoon tea with the girls
- Treat yourself to some new makeup
- Take your mum out for the afternoon
Whether you choose to spend Valentine’s Day chilling by yourself or you invite the girls round for an evening of chatting and drinking, make sure you have the truly best time, and don’t forget to treat yo’ self!
