For me, there’s literally no better time than autumn to cosy up on the sofa with a blanket, a hot chocolate and endless hours of wonderful TV to indulge in. Autumn just screams cosiness to me and if you saw my post all about bringing Hygge into the home you’ll know just why autumn is my favourite…
I’ve actually only just started watching this (well, I’ve just finished the first season) and I’m absolutely loving it. It literally radiates autumnal goodness to me and it’s the perfect show to watch on a cold, rainy day.
Watch if you loved Gossip Girl or Ugly Betty.
Orange Is The New Black
I was pretty reluctant to start watching this – Matt and I had just finished watching every episode of Game of Thrones and after watching Jon Snow grace my screen for countless episodes, I knew it was going to be hard to find something to fill its shoes. Spoiler: OITNB deffo doesn’t fill the shoes of Game of Thrones, BUT it is a funny, quirky and unique show and it has some great storylines.
Watch if you liked Breaking Bad or 13 Reasons Why.
Pretty Little Liars
I’m sure everyone and their Nan’s dog has watched Pretty Little Liars and had their own opinion regarding the identity of ‘A’ but despite many people’s disappointment, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. It’s full of drama and suspense and it’s a definite must-see.
Gavin and Stacey
Gavin and Stacey is one of my all-time favourite TV shows ever; I’ve watched it literally dozens of times and I never get bored of it. It’s a show that you can watch no matter what mood you’re in and it never fails to cheer me up and make me laugh.
Watch if you loved The Inbetweeners or My Family.
I recently rewatched all six seasons of GG and I definitely prefered it the second time around. I was constantly swooning at Chuck Bass’ jawline, hated Diana with so much passion and watched with admiration over Blair’s neverending adoration over Chuck. Gossip Girl is easy to watch and perfect for autumn as the seasons go through the calendar year and celebrate each occasion in turn.
Watch if you loved Pretty Little Liars or The Hills.
Miranda is another one of my favourite shows to watch when I need a pick me up. No matter how many times I watched I still always giggle at Miranda’s misfortunes and it’s one that I’ll come back to again and again.
Watch if you loved Mrs Brown’s Boys or Outnumbered.
I think most of you will know by now just how much I love Friends and it’s definitely a show that I can watch at any time of the year. However, it just seems a lot more acceptable to spend a full day watching as many episodes as possible during the colder months, all the while devouring a whole pizza and unleashing your inner Joey.
Watch if you loved Sex and the City or How I Met Your Mother.
Great British Bake Off
I feel like it’s not really autumn until the GBBO graces us with its presence and its soggy bottom. Despite the move to Channel 4 and the fact that Mary Berry is no longer on it, I think everyone was pleasantly surprised to discover that this series’ return was actually rather good. Of course it’ll never be as good as its BBC One predecessor, but it’s definitely a show to watch on a cosy night in.
Watch if you love to see the silver fox that is Paul Hollywood.
The Vampire Diaries
I haven’t actually finished watching the whole thing but I’ve seen enough to know that this show is perfect for autumn. It’s dark, sexy and compelling and it’s the perfect thing to watch as Halloween approaches.
Watch if you loved Pretty Little Liars or The Originals.
I think I’ve saved the best ’til last. Harry Potter is literally the epitome of autumn, cosiness and all-round loveliness. It’s the ultimate thing to watch as the dark nights draw in, surrounded by candles and snuggled up on the sofa.
