Three Chick-Lit Books That You Should Read

Books to read

Reading is one of my absolute favourite things to do and it has been ever since I can remember. I used to spend countless hours getting lost in the Harry Potter series or indulging in the mishaps that Sophie Kinsella’s characters used to get into. With the stress and hustle and bustle of every day life, I’ve found it increasingly hard to relax and get myself stuck into a good book or two.

When Matt and I headed off to Spain a few weeks ago however, I took that opportunity to do little else but read by the pool while sipping refreshing cocktails. There were a number of books that I took on holiday with me and I want to share my girly, romantic recommendations with you in today’s post.

Chick-Lit Books

I’ve read a number of books by Rebecca Chance and the most recent one I read was Divas. I won’t give too many spoilers but it’s basically about an upper class, extremely privileged girl (Lola) who lives off her father’s money. That is, until one day she is cut off by her wicked stepmother after her father suddenly dies and Lola has to prove her innocence in her father’s death and try to take back what is rightfully hers. It’s full of drama and suspense but it’s an incredibly easy read and you end up liking the most unexpected characters.

Read if you enjoyed Bad Sisters or Gone Girl.

I Heart Forever book

Lindsey Kelk is one of my favourite all-time authors EVER. I’ve been obsessed with the ‘I Heart’ series for as long as they’ve been out and they’re some of my absolute favourite books. I was delighted to see the latest installment, ‘I Heart Forever’ available in W H Smith in the airport when we were on our way to Spain so I knew I just HAD to pick it up. I started reading it on the plane and I’d finished it within a matter of days; it was so good! All my favourite characters from the series were back and better than ever and I absolutely loved the twists and turns that were in the book. Lindsey’s way of writing genuinely is one of my favourites and I adore all of her books. This book probably only really makes sense if you’ve read the rest of the ‘I Heart’ series so if you haven’t checked them out already, you definitely should!

Read if you enjoyed the Shopaholic Series or Fairytale of New York.

Wilde Like Me

I’m sure you’re all no stranger to the amount of YouTubers that have been releasing books lately, however Louise Pentland’s latest novel is nothing short of brilliant. Louise has such a creative writing flair and I absolutely love the characters that she’s created. I haven’t quite finished this book yet but I already absolutely love it. The story is simple yet wonderful and I’m loving see how the characters’ stories develop as the novel goes on. It’s centred around Robin Wilde and her daughter Lyla and it’s all about how she’s navigating single motherhood while looking for love and maintaining a sense of sanity. It’s incredibly relatable at times and definitely well worth a read.

Read if you enjoyed Bridget Jones or How To Be Single.

YASSS, you can’t beat a good bit of chick lit to keep you entertained on holiday! A review of a Lindsey Kelk book was actually the first book I ever featured on my blog, it was “I Heart New York”! I really enjoyed her frothy style and how easy the book was to read, I flew through it! I have been hearing so many people rave about Louise Pentland’s books that I definitely have to pick one up! Fab post as always, and how cute is your photography too?! Love it!

I’m back into reading regularly now but I must admit that I haven’t tried anything of this genre before – I’m more of a disturbing crime/thriller kind of girl but these also sound quite interesting.
