A Note About Belonging In The Blogging Community

the blogging community

Last week, I tweeted about the fact that I’d managed to land myself a small writing position for a travel guide website and the amount of support that I received was UNREAL. I’ve seriously never seen such wonderful words of encouragement and congratulations and I can’t believe that hundreds of people that I’ve never even met could be so lovely and inclusive.

That’s what led me to writing today’s post. To say thank you. Thank you so much. I can’t even explain how amazing the blogging community is, and I truly feel so lucky to be a part of it.

I know there is often quite a bit of drama that circulates the Blogosphere, particularly on Twitter, but I honestly have to say that I’ve never experienced anything negative from my time here. All I ever get is the loveliest girls offering advice, words of encouragement and the most genuine comments I’ve ever had. If you saw my Facebook post, you’ll know that I had a bit of a *thing* with my IRL friends who I don’t speak to anymore, but since being involved in the blogging community I’ve never felt more included and loved.

I know this is getting *quite* soppy but I just had to document just how bloody grateful I am to each and every single person who reads my blog. To the people who leave comments or even just like one of my tweets; it genuinely makes me so bloody happy. There’s always this stigma in blogging regarding the ‘numbers game’ and it’s definitely not about that for me, but the community that I’m surounding myself with makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world.

I can’t even begin to list the amount of incredible people that I’ve come to know because of blogging, because there’s literally so many. These girls are people that I talk to and engage with every single day, simply because they make my day a little bit brighter. I know if I have a burning question about the latest GOT theory, I can turn to Twitter. Or if I ask for the best foundation recommendation, I know I can turn to my favourite beauty bloggers for the best advice around.

Blogging can often be perceived to be seperated into cliques and cliches but I honestly haven’t experienced anything but inclusiveness and positivity. I’ve gained an overwhelming amount of confidence since I started blogging, but that’s a whole other post for another time!

I’m so lucky that if I ever post a selfie to Instagram, I know that there will be an abundance of beautiful girls offering their compliments and while this could be perceived to be shallow, it’s actually an incredible confidence boost. To know that these people, who are effectively strangers, are being so nice and welcoming, it really warms my heart.

I’m also lucky enough that whenever I scroll through Instagram or Twitter, I know I’ll be greeted with the most wonderful and inspiring content from the girls that I admire the most. I can’t believe how much I learn from these girls, and how much they lift me up and inspire me each and every day. As I previously mentioned, I couldn’t even begin to list my favourite bloggers because we’d be here until next year, but I’m sure you know who you are.

So, it’s to the girls (and the occassional boy) that I say thank you. Thank you ever so much for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful community. Thank you for continuing to inspire me and thank you for always, always being there.

You guys are bloody awesome.

Congratulations on the job! Yes, I wholeheartedly agree, I have felt so much love in the blogging community I just can’t get in person. I have no problem meeting or talking to a stranger thousands of miles away yet I can’t get myself to tell family or friends about my blog. They won’t or can’t understand. I have heard of some blogging drama but I try to avoid it too. My confidence has been better since blogging. I’m glad you feel the same <3

I think the blogging community is nice. I can definitely see the clique thing though, especially when it comes to follower counts. Sometimes I feel a bit overlooked because my follower count is small on Facebook and Instagram. But what matter is sincerity and authenticity, am I right?

Awww Chloe, it’s wonderful to hear that you’ve had such a positive experience with being in the blogging community! I have also made some amazing friends through blogging, which I really wasn’t expecting when I first got involved! I couldn’t agree more about how supportive and kind everyone is, if I ever tweet looking for help and advice, or just a pick-me-up on a bad day, someone is always on hand to send a cute response! Couldn’t ask for more! Thanks so much for sharing this heartwarming post!

Congratulations on your achievements! I love the blogging community for all the wild and wonderful people I have met – sometimes, it can be hard to juggle a blog with other responsibilities, but I realised that my fellow bloggers cared more for my well-being than how many posts I put out a week! There are negatives in the blogosphere of course, but it’s easy to ignore…I don’t see much of it on my timeline, so I must be following the right people 😉

First of all… OMG CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for you 🙂

Secondly… love this post. When I went through my breakup the blogging community was such an unreal help. Really don’t think I would have got through it as easily without everyone on twitter. Sure there’s drama, but there’s drama everywhere, and it’s simply a case of ignoring it and not involving yourself.

Congrats on the new job; how exciting! I always see the drama and antics unfolding over social media but I try to avoid it. I blog because I love to write, not to make money or get freebies! I’m so grateful for all of the bloggers that I’ve connected with because I love them more than my IRL friends sometimes!
