Winter Beauty Essentials

Winter is probably my favourite time of the year to really experiment with my makeup and try out new products. My skin does tend to suffer quite a bit but I think I’ve pretty much nailed my skincare routine so as long as I take extra care of my skin, my makeup tends to sit *almost* perfectly on my face.

The cold season means that Christmas is just around the corner and it’s always my favourite time of year as I’m able to crack out all the red lipsticks, the heavy coverage foundations and all the sparkly eyeshadows. Here are some of my top winter beauty essentials that I reach for as soon as December rolls around.

There’s been one particular base product that I’ve been absolutely recently and I’ve only just recently rediscovered it in my collection; it’s the Younique Touch Mineral Skin Perfecting Concealer. There’s been many times where I really couldn’t be bothered to put much effort into my makeup so I’ve been using this concealer all over my face and the coverage that I get from it is unreal. It’s perfect at covering my immense dark circles and it also hides any blemishes or scars; I honestly couldn’t recommend this enough and I already know that I’ll have to pick another one up once this one runs out as I honestly don’t think I could live without it in my makeup bag!

I’ve been reaching for my two favourite palettes recently; the Urban Decay Naked Heat and the Urban Decay Naked Smoky as they’re two of the most beautiful, highly pigmented palettes I’ve ever used. I only picked up the Naked Heat palette a few months ago but it’s already made its way to the top of my favourites pile and I’ve been using it most days to create a gorgeous bronzed hue look. While some people may argue that it’s a palette more suited to the summer months, I’ve still being using it in the colder temperatures as I feel like it’s so incredibly versatile.

The Naked Smoky is a palette that I’ve had for a number of years now and when I first picked it up while on a trip in America, I instantly knew that I would love it. It contains some of the most gorgeous shimmery shades and it’s perfect for creating the ultimate Christmas party look.

The mascara that I’ve been absolutely loving recently (along with many other people it seems) is the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. Along with the Benefit They’re Real and Maybelline Lash Sensational mascaras, it’s made its way into my top three favourite mascaras. The amount of volume that I get from using this is unreal; it’s an intense black that coats my lashes with lashings of velvety mascara. I’ve been asked so many times while wearing this if I’ve been wearing false lashes so it’s amazing that other people can notice the dramatic difference too.

There’s two products from Bare Minerals that I’ve been loving recently; the Velvet Charcoal loose eyeshadow and the Round The Clock cream eyeliner. The Velvet Charcoal eyeshadow comes in a little round pot that contains loose eyeshadow that you simply sprinkle into the lid and then use as desired. While I wasn’t quite sure of this at first, I’ve come to love it in the last few weeks as it’s ideal for creating dark, sultry smoky eye looks.

The cream eyeliner is in a gorgeous purple shade and I’ve been using this both on my eyelids along my lash line as well as along my waterline. It’s incredibly long lasting and I absolutely love the beautiful purple colour.

For those who know me, know that I’m notoriously bad for biting my nails (totally disgusting, I know) but I’m really determined to try and grow them in time for Christmas so that I can paint them in gorgeous red shades. Two of my favourite nail polishes are the Barry M nail paint in Siren and the No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour. These shades are the perfect colours for Christmas as they’re so festive and vibrant. I really hope I can manage to grow my nails in time for Christmas so that I can sport one of these beautiful shades.

I’ve made it no secret on these parts just how obsessed I am with Charlotte Tilbury makeup and one of my absolute avourite products to use at this time of year is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Red Carpet Red. I received this for Christmas a couple of years ago and now it’s always my go-to lipstick for literally any occasion but I particularly love wearing it during the festive period. It’s one of the most long lasting lipsticks that I have in my collection and I love the vibrant colour so much. Even though it’s a matte finish, I never find it to be overwhelmingly drying on my lips and I very rarely find myself having to top it up, even after an evening of eating and drinking!

  1. So many amazing picks, the Urban Decay palettes really are incredible aren’t they? I’ve been using the Naked Heat palette still too. I love the sound of the Younique concealer and the Marc Jacobs mascara too xx

  2. GIRLLLL I literally loved this post, theres so much I want to try from it… Can we just do a huge swap (lol). I love the UD palette (especially the heat) and the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish although its not one I reach for enough… so that needs to CHANGE. I loved collaborating with all of my huns on this post so much! xxxxxx

  3. I don’t really reach for many UD products anymore but the naked palettes are the kind that can be used all year round as their shades are so versatile! Lash sensational is always my go to mascara too, I’d love to try some high end ones but I worry that they won’t live up to the trusty £8 one!

  4. I absolutely love the urban decay palettes. I’m a fellow nail biter. I can go for awhile without doing it but then I’ll get stressed and start again. I find having gel nails done really helps x
