Autumn and Winter is without a doubt my favourite time of year (as I’m sure you’ll know if you’ve been reading my blog for the last few months) but it also means that the temperatures drop significantly, the nights get darker earlier and many people choose to stay indoors instead of heading out.
With this in mind, I began thinking of ways that I could help make sure that people enjoy this time of year as much as possible and when the inevitable winter colds roll around, that they were stocked up with as many essential items as possible.
When Prestige Hampers* got in touch with me about their range of Christmas hampers, I instantly knew that I could use one of the hampers as the perfect care package for someone in need this winter.
A good care package should include lots of yummy treats and snacks that can be enjoyed on a cold winter’s day. Things like cheese and crackers are always a fab idea because they usually last for ages and can be enjoyed by yourself or sharing with someone else.
The Highland Oatcakes included in the Christmas hamper* from Prestige Hampers make the perfect addition to a winter care package because they can be eaten on their own or paired perfectly with some delicious cheese.
Speaking of cheese, the hamper that I received also contains an array of different cheeses including Wensleydale with cranberries, Waxed Cheese with Red Wine and Chilli and Double Gloucester. While I’m not the biggest fan of cheese myself, I think that cheese would be the perfect addition to any self care package as I know SO many people bloody adore cheese.
This fab Christmas hamper also contains a bottle of Louis Filipe Cabernet Merlot which I think adds a perfect touch of sophistication to any hamper or care package. I think a glass of this wine paired with the cheese and the oatcakes will make the perfect companion on a cold evening while wrapped up warm in front of the fire.
Another perfect addition to this Christmas hamper is a jar of Beetroot and Orange Chutney which I’m sure many elderly people would love to receive as it’s a very comforting thing to eat.
This Christmas hamper is the perfect gift to give to anyone who needs a little extra love this winter but I think it’s an especially thoughtful gift to give to someone elderly to show them that you’re thinking of them. I’m sure my grandma or one of her friends would certainly love to receive one so I’m definitely going to be gifting this to someone who could do with a little extra love this winter.
Other things that you could include in a winter care package:
- A warm, fluffy blanket
- A cosy pair of socks
- Some winter pyjamas
- A little box of tealights
- Some delicious fruit
- Soup – the perfect winter meal!
- Box of chocolates
