Is there literally a better time to snuggle up in front of the fire with a delicious hot chocolate and a cosy blanket while watching something wonderfully Christmassy on the TV?
There’s always plenty of things that I love to watch at this time of year, whether it’s a full on Christmas film or a festive episode of my favourite TV show, there’s always something to watch on a cold winter night.
I’ve rounded up my favourite things to watch over the festive period in the hope that it gives you some inspiration to curl up on the sofa and spend a whole afternoon doing sweet FA.
Love Actually – This is definitely a contender for one of my favourite Christmas films of all time and I’ve made it a tradition for myself to watch this every year on the 1st of December. It’s such a feel-good film and as soon as I watch this I know that the countdown for the big day really has begun.
Elf – Elf is definitely most people’s favourite Christmas film and it’s not hard to see why; a lovable, Christmas elf loose in New York trying to spread festive joy, what’s not to love? This is definitely one of my favourites and I could watch it 100 times over and still never get bored of it.
Home Alone – You can’t beat a bit of Kevin McCallister at Christmas time and Home Alone is definitely a film that everyone loves to watch at this time of year. It’s perfect for all the family and it’s deffo one that has to be watched every year.
The Holiday – I only watched this for the first time a few years ago but I instantly fell in love with it and it’s now firmly in my list of ‘things to watch at Christmas’. It’s the most adorable film and contains some of Hollywood’s finest actors and actresses and it’s certainly a film that leaves me all warm and fuzzy.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – This is a film that my family and I watch religiously every single year and it’s one that definitely never grows old. No matter how many times I watch it, it never fails to make me laugh out loud.
The Polar Express – This film always reminds me of my childhood because it’s such a classic Christmas film. It’s truly magical to see the children visit Santa at the North Pole and I always dreamed of The Polar Express coming to pick me up and taking me to visit Santa…
The Santa Clause (1,2 &3) – When I was younger, these were always my favourite films to watch at Christmas time and even though I’m almost 20, they’re still some of my very favourites. I think I used to love them so much because I used to have a tiny crush on Charlie. LOL.
Gavin and Stacey Christmas special – Yet another Christmas tradition of mine is to watch this episode while I’m wrapping all of my Christmas presents and it’s something that I absolutely love to do every single year. Gavin and Stacey has been one of my favourite TV series ever since it first came out and I literally never get tired of watching it over and over again.
F.R.I.E.N.D.S – I’ve made it no secret just how much I bloody love Friends and even though I watch Friends all year round (read: almost every single day) I love dedicating a few hours during December to watch all the festive episodes.
Miranda – Miranda is yet another one of my favourite TV shows for easy watching and I always love watching the Christmas episodes as they’re so festive and funny.
The Simpsons – The Simpsons always offer the best themed episodes no matter what time of year it is but watching the Christmas episodes always remind me of being a child. They literally never get old and I’m sure I’ll be watching them for many years to come.
