It’s been a little while since I last wrote a ‘happy things‘ post so I thought I’d put another one together as there’s been many amazing things happening in my life recently.
It’s been a very busy couple of months but as Christmas rapidly approaches, I’m hoping that things might start to slow down. The many things that have put a smile on my face in the last few weeks were hard to condense into a list of just 10 things but here goes…
1. Finally getting the extension finished and being able to relax in the living room
It feels like years since we’ve been able to sit down in front of the tele and cuddle up on the sofa as we’ve been having the house extended which has taken ages. It was finally finished a few weeks ago though, just in time for the festive season to truly start and I’ve absolutely loved snuggling down with Matt and Poppy while watching I’m A Celeb.
2. Incredible freelance opportunities
I don’t want to say too much about this just yet as I don’t want to jinx it – there should be an official blog post all about it in the New Year – but things have been really picking up on the freelance front in the last few weeks. I’ve been working so incredibly hard on my writing projects and it’s finally paying off; I can’t wait to show you guys what I’ve been working on!
3. Getting prepared for Blogmas
The last few weeks have been all about preparing for Blogmas and I’m so excited for all of my posts to go live! There’s already been some Christmas content around these parts but come the 1st of December, things will get a whole lot more festive!
4. Seeing The Killers in Leeds with my mum
The Killers have been one of my absolutely favourite brands for so many years now so when my mum and I headed to the First Direct Arena to watch them live a few weeks ago, I was truly beside myself. I’m always slightly apprehensive that my favourite artists won’t live up to my expectations when I see them live but Brandon Flowers and the gang were literally unreal. I had the most amazing night singing along to my favourite songs with my mum and it’s definitely a night that I could relive over and over.
5. Attending two blogging events in one week
I’m always so wholeheartedly grateful whenever I get invited to events because it really feels like people are recognising my hard work and last week I attended two events with one of my oldest friends. The first one was to celebrate The Botanist’s first birthday party and even though I’ve already wrote a whole post all about it, I just want to reiterate the fact that it was bloody amazing! We also visited the Origins store in York to take a look at some of the Christmas gift sets and even though I didn’t buy anything (although I could have easily snapped up the entire ginger range!) I did win a full size cleanser as part of a raffle prize!
6. Watching Stranger Things with Matt
We managed to watch both seasons in less than a week because we were absolutely obsessed with them. We didn’t watch it last year when it originally came out because we didn’t think it would be for us but omfg I’m SO glad we decided to watch it. I completely fell in love with it and I already can’t wait for series 3 – I’m actually tempted to rewatch the whole thing again already!
7. Starting my Christmas shopping
On Sunday, Matt was away at a Rugby dinner with his dad and grandad so I decided to head into town and start on my Christmas shopping. In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best idea to do in on a Sunday afternoon because town was absolutely teeming with Christmas shoppers and tourists but it was nice to have finally made a start on buying gifts.
8. Being told that I can finally have my tonsils out
This one may seem like an incredibly strange thing to be happy about but I’ve had tonsilitis every two weeks for almost two years now and it’s got to the point where I’m literally always in pain. When the doctors finally told me I could have them out I was so relieved and so happy; I don’t think they’d ever seen someone so happy knowing that they had to have an operation! I’m having them out just two weeks before Christmas which isn’t really ideal as I’m likely to be in a lot of pain but if it means that I’ll be healthy in the long run then I’m all for it!
9. Watching Riverdale
Riverdale was yet another TV show that I didn’t jump on the bandwagon with but after hearing so much about it I finally decided to give in and give it a watch. I’m so glad I did because I’ve been binge watching it everyday for the last week and I love it so much. It’s like a weird combination of Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl and some weird murder mystery but I’m absolutely hooked.
10. Spending lots of time with Matt
For the last few weeks (weekends included) Matt has been incredibly busy working on his coursework so that he can finish in time for Christmas so it’s been lovely to spend so much time with him this last week. We’ve cooked dinner together, watched I’m A Celeb on the sofa and enjoyed lots of cuddles with the cat and it’s been absolutely lush <3.
