As much as I love going out and drinking Jäger bombs until the early hours of the morning, I also love having a cosy night in with my favourite people. Whether it’s with my mum, with Matt or even just on my own, it’s sometimes so lovely to be able to just sit at home and spend an evening relaxing.
I’ve put together my top tips for indulging in the perfect cosy night in and I wanted to share them with you in today’s post.
Get some tasty food in
Whether you opt for a delicious takeaway pizza and garlic bread or decide to make yourself a homemade salad, (each to their own but EW) make sure you choose food that you absolutely love. If I’m having a cosy night in I like to make sure I’ve got plenty of yummy snacks in to eat throughout the night and I always love to get a takeaway if I’m feeling particularly in need of ultimate comfort food.
Get straight into your cosiest pyjamas
Snuggly pyjamas are an absolute must for the ultimate cosy night in as they just make everything much more lovely. This time of year is perfect for getting your Christmas pyjamas out of storage (whoever says it’s too early is clearly a massive Scrooge) and getting into them as soon as you get home. The last few weeks have seen me swapping my work clothes for my pyjamas as soon as I step through the door on an evening so it’s no wonder that the perfect night in calls for your snuggliest attire.
Stock up on drinks
The ultimate cosy night in usually always calls for a mug of hot chocolate or a cup of tea but if you find youself having a particularly trying week then you could always swap these out for a [tall] glass of wine. One of my favourite things to do is to enjoy a glass of wine (or three) with my mum while we’re sat in our pyjamas having a good old gossip. It’s the perfect way to spend an evening in.
Indulge in a relaxing pamper routine
Having a good pamper is essential when you’re having a cosy night in and there’s nothing better than having a long, hot bubble bath complete with all the best smelling goodies. Enjoy a relaxing bath and then lather yourself in your favourite moisturiser before getting in to your warmest pyjamas. Just writing this is leaving my all heart-eye emoji and desperate to jump straight into a bubble bath.
Light all the candles and fairy lights
No cosy night in would be complete without an abundance of candles and fairy lights. My obsession with candles is pretty extreme so there’s plenty of them dotted around the house making it smell like autumn exploded on it. Fairy lights also add a touch of magic to any room so these are a definite must for a cosy night in.
Pick a selection of the greatest movies
A cosy night in must-have is definitely a large selection of your favourite movies or TV shows. I’ve got a few movies and series that I always turn to when I need to have a chilled night in and they always make the night so much better.
Cuddle up on the sofa or in bed with all the blankets and pillows
Our living room has been getting redecorated and we’ve had an extension put on to the house so we haven’t actually been able to sit and relax in the living room for weeks but I am SO excited to curl up on the sofa once it’s all complete. Having a cosy environment is a definite must when you’re enjoying a night in because it’ll leave you feeling remarkably chilled out and content.
