Ways To Bring Hygge Into Your Home This Autumn*

Hygge

Way back in spring I wrote a post about the ways that you can bring Hygge into your life and as it’s a concept that I love, I thought I’d put together an autumn edition.

Hygge is a Danish word that is used to describe a feeling or a moment that can be experienced alone or with others that leaves you feeling content, cosy and warm. For me, autumn is the perfect time to practice the art of feeling cosy, warm and content, so I’ve put together a list of the things that you can do to bring Hygge into your life this autumn.

hygge

One of my favourite ways to create a gorgeous atmosphere is by bringing candles and diffusers into the home. Candles create a lovely, warm ambience and can bring so much cosiness into any room. My favourites include fresh and clean scents, and warm, cinnamon scents from the Yankee Candle range. There’s literally so many different scents to choose from in order to make your room smell absolutely divine.

hygge

Fresh bedding is a firm favourite of mine in order to bring Hygge into the bedroom. Sunday always marks “fresh bedding night” for us in our house (so rock and roll, I know) and there’s no better feeling than slipping into fresh, clean sheets with freshly shaved legs and a tonne of moisturiser lathered onto your body. These sheets are from Groupon and they’re perfect for autumn/winter as they’re so incredibly cosy and cute.

hygge

There’s nothing better on an autumnal, rainy day than getting into your cosy pyjamas, especially if they’re super cute. I always opt for super warm pyjamas or a big fluffy onesie; perfect for spending a lazy day tucked up reading. The pyjamas in the photo above are a couple of years old now but they’re still in immaculate condition and they never fail to make me happy when wearing them. This also applies to fluffy socks or slippers as these too are an imperative piece of autumnal wear.

While flowers are generally more associated with spring and summer, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should miss out on a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers when autumn comes around.

hygge

The lovely people at Prestige Flowers* kindly sent me a bouquet of their luxury range flowers to enjoy, and enjoy them I did. They certainly brightened up the room and made it smell beautiful. The colours of the flowers are truly spectacular and I was so impressed by how large the bouquet was! Prestige Flowers offer a wide range of beautiful bouquets, gifts and hampers for you to choose from, all at a range of different prices. Spring isn’t the only time to flood your home with flowers; autumn can also be the perfect time to bring some colour into your home and fresh flowers are the perfect way to do this.

The flowers were neatly packed into this box and they were very well packaged so as not to experience any damage while being delivered. The service I received from Prestige Flowers was excellent and I’d thoroughly recommend purchasing a gorgeous bunch of flowers from them if you feel like your home needs a bit of TLC.

hygge

Another way in which you could bring Hygge into your home this autumn is by adding fairy lights and light-up objects to the rooms in your house. Not only do these create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, they also make everything appear much more cosy as there is less harsh light. I picked up some adorable LED tealights from Wilko and not only do they make excellent blog props, they’re also great at creating a much more relaxed atmosphere.

Other ways that you can bring Hygge into your home include:

  • Lots of throws, blankets and cushions.
  • Make an autumnal playlist.
  • Add some snuggly rugs to your bedroom and living room.
  • Paint your nails an autumnal colour.
  • Make your own wreath to hang on your front door.
  • Enjoy your morning coffee while looking out the window.
  • Pick some autumnal paintings and place them around your home.

  9. I’m not really a flower person but those are pretty! I love autumn, being cosy is my fave thing in the entire world so I love that it’s an excuse to leave my PJs on all day, stay in bed and watch movies/box sets. I do that all year round but at least I can blame the cold outside now!
