A Lazy Sunday Routine

Sunday routine

Sundays are the perfect time to unwind with a cup of tea, (or a glass of wine) have a good ol’ pamper and prepare for the week ahead.

My Sunday morning usually starts with the biggest lie in, usually until around half 10/11 ish, although sometimes it can be longer (no joke – Matt and I once slept in until 3.30pm, oops). Once we’ve awoken from the most heavenly sleep, we head downstairs for a delicious brunch consisting of bacon, eggs and tea, all served with an episode or two of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Sunday routine, brunch

As Sundays are purely designed to be as lazy as possible, I don’t usually bother to change out of my pyjamas, although I do *occasionally* make the effort to wash my face…

A Note About Belonging In The Blogging Community

the blogging community

Last week, I tweeted about the fact that I’d managed to land myself a small writing position for a travel guide website and the amount of support that I received was UNREAL. I’ve seriously never seen such wonderful words of encouragement and congratulations and I can’t believe that hundreds of people that I’ve never even met could be so lovely and inclusive.

That’s what led me to writing today’s post. To say thank you. Thank you so much. I can’t even explain how amazing the blogging community is, and I truly feel so lucky to be a part of it.

I know there is often quite a bit of drama that circulates the Blogosphere, particularly on Twitter, but I honestly have to say that I’ve never experienced anything negative from my time here. All I ever get is the loveliest girls offering advice, words of encouragement and the most genuine comments I’ve ever had. If you saw my Facebook post, you’ll know that I had a bit of a *thing* with my IRL friends who I don’t speak to anymore, but since being involved in the blogging community I’ve never felt more included and loved.

I know this is getting *quite* soppy but I just had to document just how bloody grateful I am to each and every single person who reads my blog. To the people who leave comments or even just like one of my tweets; it genuinely makes me so bloody happy. There’s always this stigma in blogging regarding the ‘numbers game’ and it’s definitely not about that for me, but the community that I’m surounding myself with makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world.

I can’t even begin to list the amount of incredible people that I’ve come to know because of blogging, because there’s literally so many. These girls are people that I talk to and engage with every single day, simply because they make my day a little bit brighter. I know if I have a burning question about the latest GOT theory, I can turn to Twitter. Or if I ask for the best foundation recommendation, I know I can turn to my favourite beauty bloggers for the best advice around.

Blogging can often be perceived to be seperated into cliques and cliches but I honestly haven’t experienced anything but inclusiveness and positivity. I’ve gained an overwhelming amount of confidence since I started blogging, but that’s a whole other post for another time!

I’m so lucky that if I ever post a selfie to Instagram, I know that there will be an abundance of beautiful girls offering their compliments and while this could be perceived to be shallow, it’s actually an incredible confidence boost. To know that these people, who are effectively strangers, are being so nice and welcoming, it really warms my heart.

I’m also lucky enough that whenever I scroll through Instagram or Twitter, I know I’ll be greeted with the most wonderful and inspiring content from the girls that I admire the most. I can’t believe how much I learn from these girls, and how much they lift me up and inspire me each and every day. As I previously mentioned, I couldn’t even begin to list my favourite bloggers because we’d be here until next year, but I’m sure you know who you are.

So, it’s to the girls (and the occassional boy) that I say thank you. Thank you ever so much for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful community. Thank you for continuing to inspire me and thank you for always, always being there.

You guys are bloody awesome.

Joe’s Kitchen – Places To Eat In York

Joe's kitchen, places to eat in York

Trying new places to eat is one of my favourite things to do, especially considering the fact that I’ve always been a fussy eater; it feels like now I’m making up for it!

Matt and I try to go on date night a few times a month, and one of our favourite things to do is to try out different restaurants. Seeing as we venture out into the culinary world quite a lot, I thought I’d start a mini series and document all my favourite spots to eat in York!

33 Thoughts That Every Girl Has On Their Period

thoughts that every girl has on their period

There was one time, a few weeks ago, when dear old Mother Nature paid me a visit and at 11pm on a Saturday night, she had me in tears because I’d put too much Sudocrem on my face.

Sudocrem.

Matt couldn’t speak properly for about 15 minutes as he was laughing too much and he found the whole situation genuinely hilarious. I, however, did not.

That incident however, led me to writing today’s post as that’s not the only thing that happens when shark week arrives…

Here’s 33 thoughts that every girl has when it comes to leak week:

Summer Date Daytime Activities

summer date daytime activities

Going on dates with Matt is one of my favourite things to do. Whether it’s something lavish and expensive like going on holiday, or simply just having a cosy night in together, spending time with my favourite person is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

In today’s post, I thought I’d share some ideas that you and your bae could indulge in on a lovely summer’s day. However, with the British weather being *quite* unpredictable, I’ve split this list into two categories, so you have the option of both indoor and outdoor activities.

Indoor

  1. Spend the day playing board games.
  2. Build a fort and make lots of yummy snacks, and enjoy spending some precious time with your SO.
  3. Watch your favourite movies or TV shows.
  4. Make some summer snacks together- think fruity cocktails, summery salads and yummy fruit bowls.
  5. Make a scrapbook full of summer memories.
  6. You could have an indoor picnic.
  7. Try out a Pinterest DIY together.
  8. Make homemade ice lollies.
  9. Have a day pampering each other with face masks while watching a cheesy film.
  10. Spend a rainy day in bed eating ice cream and cookies.
  11. You could go bowling or go to the cinema to watch the latest movie.
  12. Make some delicious pizzas.
  13. Play old video games together.

Outdoor

  1. Spend an afternoon in a beer garden – you could even get a group of friends together!
  2. Go to a theme park.
  3. Have a water balloon fight.
  4. Spend a leisurely afternoon in a park having a picnic.
  5. Go to an outdoor cinema with bae and watch a romantic film.
  6. Play card games in the garden drinking cider.
  7. Spend a day at the beach eating ice cream and playing in the arcades.
  8. Go on a road trip together.
  9. Watch the sunset on a hill while drinking prosecco.
  10. Go camping and spend the evening watching the stars.
  11. Enjoy a bike ride together.
  12. Go on a long walk and spend time getting lost in the woods.
  13. Pull an all-nighter and watch the sunrise.

Six Hours In Rome: Travel Guide!

Rome Travel Guide

If you saw Tuesday’s post or if you follow me on any of my social media channels then you’ll know that I spent a few days in Venice with Matt and his family. The day before we flew home to England however, Matt and I decided to take the four hour train journey to Rome; we were only there for six hours but that was all it took for me to fall in love with the beautiful city!

things to do in rome

We got train tickets for around €100 each which was pretty pricey, but considering we only booked them the day before we went, we didn’t really expect much less! Both Matt and I agreed that it was definitely money well spent though, and I would 100% recommend making the journey to Rome if you’re ever in Venice (or vice versa).

Venice Travel Guide: What To Do, Eat And See!

Venice St Mark's Square

*Warning, this post contains a LOT of wanderlust-worthy pictures!*

For those of you who follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ll know that I spent last week in Venice with Matt, his mum and his stepdad. I can hands down say that it was one of the most beautiful places that I’ve ever been to (in fact, it’s probably made it into my top three favourite places in the world; New York, Budapest and now Venice).

Tuesday

We woke up bright and early last Tuesday (I mean literally, it was 2am) and we headed to Manchester Airport to catch our flight. The two and a half hour flight was extremely pleasant and we landed just before lunch in Venice mainland.

Why I Took A Break From Facebook & What I Learnt From It

facebookI’ll be honest, I’ve never been the biggest fan of Facebook. I only got an account in 2011 as all my friends had one and I didn’t want to be left out of this super cool technology. LOL.

Fast forward six years and I finally decided to delete my Facebook account. Why, might you ask? Well, it’s a VERY long story but basically, I was just ‘done’.

I was bored of the drama and the incessant updates from ‘friends’ who I’m actually not all that friendly with… Even though I didn’t particularly like the social media app, I seemed to spend a good proportion of my day mindlessly browsing the endless ramblings of people who I actually had no real interest in.

Things That People Who Love Airports Will Understand

Airports

Okay, so I’m sure you’re all probably bored of hearing about the fact that I’m in Venice at the moment but I’ve completely fallen in love with this incredible place.

One of my favourite parts of going on holiday is actually spending time at the airport before I fly. I know for many people that killing two or three hours inside an airport is basically something that is an annoying necessity to get to the desired loctaion. However, I absolutely bloody love them! And here’s why:
